No more free cold water from Coke Freestyle Machines!!!

How many Freestyle outlets are there?
I feel that number is constantly changing. Right now they're doing construction next to MIB to add more to the Universal Studios side. The IOA side has them all over the place. I have always seen hoards of people around them int he middle of the day though. I don't have a cup so I've never paid attention to the actual number.

This is a huge mess over on the UOAP Facebook page. People are getting mean!

We don't drink sugar drinks and we've always had great luck when asking the TMs to fill water bottles. In the last year we've been using the Freestyle machines and they are super convenient. I'm a bit annoyed that they're taking it away but as long as they'll either fill my water bottle at stands or give me a big cup of water I'm okay! If they start doing what Disney does in some locations Anne they give me a small cup of water I'll be annoyed. Then I order 3 cups for each person in my party. That has to be a waste of money on cups!

The cups are very small. It's like having a shot of water.

Someone just mentioned in the facebook group that even those who have paid for the Freestyle cup may not have access to plain water... now THAT puts another spin on it. IMO, those who have paid for the cup should be able to choose water as their option if they want to! I thought this was just to rid the Freestyle line of those who are filling other containers with water... I'm curious to hear the results when someone tries it out with their Freestyle cup....!!

I was going to say no access to water for even paying. I would do the freestyle if there was a water option too. Maybe they can make the chip only dispense water for a cheaper rate.

They are everywhere really.

Again you explained it with that twist

Those with the freestyle cups also can not get water

There are times in the park when it is hot, only water helps me, not soda

Speaking as someone who didn't know they had free water at the Freestyle machines until after my last trip, while disappointing, I won't really miss it. I usually just fill my water bottles at the regular water fountains at both Universal and Disney, as the water taste doesn't bother me.

Do we have to get in counter service lines to get water in our bottles? What are the carts you are talking about? Fountain drink carts?

We carry around the camelbak water bottle with a charcoal filter wherever we go. Makes getting water anywhere easy. Water fountain, sink, etc. If this remains true, it's something to try. Avoids the QS lines and small cups.

I went the freestyle cup route last week and there are a bunch of locations. However, there are huge lines at almost all of them, and from my observations only, about half of that line just got water. We quickly learned which locations had shorter lines than others, but we always used the water feature just to rinse out our cups if it had been sitting in a hot locker for an extended period of time.

The reasoning doesn't make sense. As stated, you need the water for the drinks. I am a Powerade Zero drinker in the heat, and you can literally see the water and the flavoring coming out at the same time. And, quite frankly, one of the ideas I had standing in a long line by MIB watching little kids hitting the screen to see EVERY OPTION AVAILABLE before selecting their choice, was to have one with ONLY WATER. It was actually quite efficient when there were 4 or 5 people who only wanted water - they could just follow each other, hit the pour button and move on. No having to navigate the screens, which shouldn't take long, but does. The waiting is really watching people who have trouble with the language or common sense figure out how to work the dang machines.

Ah Bluer you started a thread.

Can I add my voice to the disappointment. Such a small thing, but when you're in Florida quick access to cold water is a real plus!

Very cool! Thanks! The quick service plan looks like a good idea too, I think I'll add that!

Ah crud!:furious: I really loved the Freestyle water. I have rarely waited in a line. In fact, I have always filled up in my hotel room with my own supply or the Freestyle machines. I have never gotten it from a QS or cart at Universal. I have tried the fountains at WDW. Once the water is no longer ice cold, or it never was, it has a horrible taste that actually makes me physically ill:crazy2: I have a thing with bad tasting warm water from being traumatized as a child during day care in the hot Oklahoma summers:rolleyes2 Anyway, and the QS at WDW often times have nasty tasting cold water too. I guess it's bottled water for us at Universal from now on. Luckily, we usually have a car and can buy cheap big bottles offsite. However, we don't really have the time to do that for our trip next month:( I am not so upset at the cost of buying bottled water, but it's such a horribly, environmentally-unfriendly thing to do:sad2:, especially with all of the water that I drink. I liked the machines so much, that I complained to WDW guest services that they should provide cold, free, filtered water dispensers, not that garbage from the QS.

Does this also mean that it's been removed at Cabana Bay's Freestyle machines?

Not happy with the change as I drink a lot of water. I will definitely let GS know when I get there in September that I'm not pleased to see it removed.

Water is the most healthy option and they remove it, not the greatest plan. They should be encouraging healthy options when you can refill as often as you want.

It's starting to remind me about snack credits at WDW. I wanted to use one for a carton of milk for cereal and my options were a tiny carton or larger bottles of flavoured milk. I had a long conversation with a CM about how I thought it was strange that the chocolate or strawberry milk was in a larger bottle and must cost them more than the white milk and why they weren't encouraging people to drink the more healthy option. He was convinced that the chocolate milk was more healthy than the white milk. I could not change his mind. I finally walked away shaking my head.

Being able to get ice water easily was a life saver for us in May. We found that if we went to a location that had a long line for the freestyle machine, we just did something else for a moment or two and the line would go away soon. Most people were honestly only getting water. I really wish they would keep the water option or offer another one that is self service ice water. It helps so much in the Florida heat.

That is a really good point. I wonder if we can still get water at CBBR... its going to be a killer if i have to buy bottled water as I won't have a rental car.
