Where else do you vacation with family? We have two more DVC WDW trips planned which will wind down our three trips in one year of Disney. We plan on taking a break after out last trip in May 2016 and take the kids elsewhere. But where? We live in Ohio, kids will be 10 and 7. Thinking of Caribbean- can anyone recommend a family friendly resort? Disney has been our go-to for awhile now since its easy to get to, safe, and offers activities for the whole family to enjoy.

We love to cruise with the kids. We have done the disney fantasy but prefer Carnival and Royal caribbean since we have 3 teens. Disney is great but you can get great deals and have an awesome time on the others.

We love cruising with our 3 teens. Started cruising when they were. 3. We loved DCL Fantasy but prefer Royal Caribbean and Carnival for the teens. DCL cost us an unbelievable amount of money and you can get great deals on the others.

National Parks.

Agreed! We went to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons for the fourth time on June. Last year, Denali. Next year maybe Rocky Mountain NP. We also find we're using our DVC points more for HHI and less for WDW as the years and price increases go by.

Marco Island, FL. But we also like the national parks, like Yellowstone and the Everglades (near Marco Island).

But we are doing six trips to WDW this year on one AP, mostly because of our new CM son.

Take a cruise.
Stay at DVC, but go to some of the other Orlando area attractions.
St. Pete beach area.

HH, Gatlinburg, HI, FL coast, Aruba, LV. If you're thinking Carribean I'd consider Aruba and Cancun. A number of good resorts for both though MX is not going to be a good option for RCi exchange using DVC. It'll be easier and cheaper than HI.

Williamsburg. You can drive from Ohio. There are a number of nice timeshares (you could trade via DVC/RCI) or rent directly from the resort and also tons of decent hotels. The historical village is excellent with many programs and mini-talks. You could easily spend 2+ full days at colonial Wllbg, or 3-4 partial days. You also have Busch Gardens, which has a nice European theme. It is a relatively inexpensive vacation with a multi-day pass being around $100 and kids even less and BG having an annual pass for under $100. We have stayed at Governor's Green, Greensprings and Marriott Manor Club timeshares and liked all of them. There is also a Great Wolf Lodge, but it ia a bit farther from actual Wllmbg.
Otherwise, we really liked SMugglers Notch in Vermont (RCI trade) and Carrib. cruises for family vacations. We go everyon other year to Hilton Head and love riding bikes. DVC is hard to get into in the summer, but there are a lot of nice resorts to trade via RCI. We like Waterside by Spinnaker the best.
For the Carrib., we liked Marriott Vacation Club in Aruba. If you can sleep in a regular hotel room, there are a lot of options. We really liked Marriott in Curacao (room 2 beds with fridge). They had a good kids program with lots of activities/crafts and a nice location on the beach. But, my kids strongly prefer a cruise to a week at a beach/island resort.

The gulf coast of Florida. PCB is only 2 hrs from home

We have been doing 2 years of Disney and then a year of Cancun. We have stayed at the Royal Islander and Royal Sands. Love them both. The cleanest resorts I have ever been to! Next year we are hoping to go back to the Royal Islander. We love Cancun. We do leave the resorts and walk to places, have taken the internal Royal bus, taxis, and the city bus system. We have taken a guided snorkeling tour in Akumal as well as taken the ferry to Isla Muerjes. We have been in August, October, December, and January. Each time the weather was perfect although August was pretty hot. We can trade into the Royals using RCI. For a 2 bedroom unit in December it will cost us 200 points. I am not sure if we will use our points or rent ours our and then rent from a Royals owner off of TUG

We took an Oars trip, specifically the three day two night Jackson Lake kayaking trip that was amazing. We then toured Yellowstone afterwards. Check out www.oars.com for a large variety of paddling based family adventures.

We live in Baltimore. We normally always go to myrtle beach. Love it there and a good price. This year we also went camping at kneobels which was really fun. Rented a cabin and cooked food on camp fire. Went to no admission amusement park during the day. Had rides for all ages. Was a lot of fun. Probably will do again next year. A good 3 night trip

Maybe things have changed but the last I heard, only the Royal Mayan was in RCi and even then, only a small amount was deposisted. To be 200 points for a 2 BR, you'd need to be non red time. For red time for a gold crown it's 260 points and Dec is red time for Cancun in RCI.

Aruba, the Marriott Vacation Club is great been there several times over the last 10 years. We also love cruising and visiting the National Parks.

I'm single and love to travel and I will admit that most of my vacations are Disney related such as WDW, DLR and Disney Cruises but I also venture outside the Disney bubble. At least once a year I do 3 or 4 day backpacking trip. I also get three day weekends so I do a lot of extended weekend trips to Laughlin, Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego, Big Bear, Mammoth, and Palm Springs. Next year I have a week long trip booked for Iceland and a two week vacation which includes a 12 day non-Disney cruise out of New York, nevertheless I will also squeeze in a WDW trip in April and weekend trips to DLR. I wish I could accumulate more vacation days but I maxed out years ago.

Dollywood, Pigeon Forge and Great Smokey Mountain NP. Off of I 75, we like to stop at The Museum of Appalaciia which is a great learning opportunity for the history of the area. Dollywood's AP costs little more than $100 and the shows and rides and festivals keep us going back year round. They celebrate Chistmas very well!

My daughter has liked Washington DC and Europe - particularly London.

My son is a beach kid - we've stayed at all inclusives and private Villas on the Mexican Riveria and timeshares in Maui. (The all inclusive was the Azul Sensatori - a smallish resort, not a great beach as its on the coral reef part of the coast). He tolerates getting dragged from museum to museum behind his sister (he did like Washington DC a lot more than I thought he would).

We've also cruised. Its an easy vacation.

National Parks. We do the 3 Disney trips within 10 months, then 14 months off before the cycle repeats. During the summer of our 'off' Disney time we've taken 2 week trips to the National parks with the kids. When they were 12 and 8, we did National parks (and other sites) in South Dakota and Wyoming--Badlands, Minuteman Missile, Mt. Rushmore, Wind Cave, Crazy Horse, Mammoth Site, Devil's Tower, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons. When they were 14 and 10, we did Utah and surrounding states--Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon North Rim, Arches, Mesa Verde, Petroglyph, and 3 days in Santa Fe, New Mexico doing museums. The kids earned tons of Junior Ranger badges. They got a lot out of these trips. During our next 'Disney break'...it's not completely a Disney break...we're doing a Disney Cruise to Alaska, our first ever cruise. My oldest DD will be 16 next summer, and only 2 years left of high school...we were thinking the following year might be college visits...so do something 'big' next summer.
