The yield of Genie+ vs FP+ is crazy.......you get WAY more rides on genie+ and theres no tiers so you get better quality rides...........to me its a no brainer and worth itJust charge me an extra price for Fastpass and let me leave my phone in the room while on vacation.
That's kind of how Disneyland Paris is now. Everything is a ILL ranging from 6 Euro to 20-ish Euro. You can also buy a pass that gets you everything at least once but that costs over 160 Euro/per person per day. They should just put a sign above every ride with a dollar amount to immediately enter the fastpass line and call it a day. Touch up the magic band and go.
Oh you're the oneI don't care about yields as I don't want or care to ride everything. I care about not having to get up early or having to look at a phone all day while on vacation. Plus, I'm not talking about going back to the old system as I'd rather have the Universal system. Pay up front and link it to my Magic Band.
Well you are definitely the exception......Ive never heard anyone before say "yeah give me the crappy rides and less of them"I don't care about yields as I don't want or care to ride everything. I would guess it would still be limited to guests at the three premiere resorts. Also interested, but not sure what 'the same' will look like. Will new resorts be included in Express Pass? If so, just for the new park or for all 3? Will the original resorts with EP be included for Epic Universe? I agree there's likely going to be an Express Pass, but waiting to see the format and requirements. This new park will be a must-do for us at some point.
They took 2 of the high tiered rides from each park out of FP+. The tiers are technically still there, you just pay for them now or wait in line. They are easier to get because not everyone wants to or can pay for both ILLs and Genie+. I’m fine with paying extra to get the rides I want. I just hate being up before 7am every day of my vacation. The yield of Genie+ vs FP+ is crazy.......you get WAY more rides on genie+ and theres no tiers so you get better quality rides...........to me its a no brainer and worth it
Except the new park expansion includes some pretty nice new resorts, as well.....I would guess it would still be limited to guests at the three premiere resorts.
I think only MK has two ILL$ rides anymore. The other 3 parks only have one. I much prefer that structure to FP+ tier 1 containing 3+ rides per park. They took 2 of the high tiered rides from each park out of FP+. Nobody should have to be tied to a device on vacation. Anywhere. Then people will complain that they have to stop mid ride, mid dinner, mid pool time, etc to stop and make their G+ for the next day while they’re still living for that day.
They will never make everyone happy.

I don’t think I’ve been back since the 2nd ILL was removed from most of the parks. MK never had any tiering in FP+ days. It’s also hard to compare since they’ve added more rides to both Epcot and HS between the end of FP+ and start of Genie+. The rides included in tier one would have changed. Having to pay if you’re willing makes it easier. Even though they are not technically tiered, it is still challenging to get Test Track, Frozen, and Remy at Epcot. Sometimes you can only get one of those 3 if you’re not up at 7 and don’t tap into the first ride before the two hour after park opening hits. I also don’t know if Slinky Dog is still selling out shortly after 7am. I was able to get the rides I wanted with FP+ and I have also been able to get most of the rides I want with Genie + and ILL combined. I did not enjoy my trip in the middle of the two systems when crowds were back and there was no option. Like others, I would just prefer to not have to do it every day of my vacation.I think only MK has two ILL$ rides anymore. The other 3 parks only have one. Agreed. In fact, the phone is such a normal part of every day now, using it for a couple LL during the day isn't a big deal. I expect most people at WDW on vacation use their phones way more during the day for NON-Genie+/LL/ILL monitoring than they ever do trying to get a LL. I'll also use it at times to check on stand-by wait times.I didn’t feel tied to my device. It takes 30 seconds to make a G+. It’s really not bad at all. People are over exaggerating the phone situation or doing something completely different than I did. Or their tolerance for the phone is less than mine.
I would book a G+ and put my phone in my bag and move on. Sometimes I would set an alarm for 2 hours to remind me to book my next one and I didn’t have to mess with my phone for another 2 hours. Then 30 seconds to book, rinse and repeat. I’m not a refresher so I don’t spend massive amounts of time doing that.
I do love mobile order. It’s probably one of the best things Disney has implemented.
In the interests of disclosure MDE is a battery hogging app running in the background. Universal's app does not drain my battery all that much compared to MDE and this was the case in 2017. Regardless of what you're doing on your phone if you're using MDE at all and letting it run in the background it's going to drain most batteries. And I'm told from friends of mine if my battery is still at least 50% at the end of a Disney day, I really haven't used my device enough!! And that's how I use it most days......
Along these lines Disney is using Tiers just in a different way than in FP+ with the adjustment in what they consider the buckets.I don’t think I’ve been back since the 2nd ILL was removed from most of the parks. Churchill needed to visit the social democracies of Scandinavia. Consistently rank Among the world’s happiest.Well, this is capitalism working as intended.
As someone (Churchill?) once said, capitalism is the unequal distribution of prosperity, socialism is the equal distribution of misery.
I do agree that Disney needs to continue working towards more affordable solutions for lower income families, but this may not nor need not include Genie +
I don't want this thread to get derailed, but Scandinavian economies are forms of capitalism.Churchill needed to visit the social democracies of Scandinavia. Consistently rank Among the world’s happiest.
No one is competing with their neighbors buying Stanley cups. What are they doing differently?
