Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

Frustrating to me that they are bringing back a similar show. The international parks have better shows and change them more often, even DLR, changes what's in Hyperion regularly, yet WDW is stuck with mostly the same shows for over 10 years.

If it's open for my next trip I'll use it for a nap like I've done before but I can't help but think of how good Big Band Beat was at TDL, the only show I got to see because it was the only lottery I won over the 4 days.

I wouldn't say that they change the Hyperion "regularly." Alladdin was in there fo 13 years, then Frozen for 4 years. There were a couple of short lived shows before that, and Rogers: The Muisical after, but currently it is nothing. I hear Rogers is comign back though.

New ‘The Little Mermaid’ Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

How many wonders can one cavern hold? What’s a fire and why does it burn? When will a stage show return to the Animation Courtyard theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? All valid questions – one of which I can’t wait to dive into!

“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” a fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic “The Little Mermaid,” will debut in the newly refreshed Animation Courtyard theater in fall 2024.

As part of our continued investment in the Parks experience, Disney Live Entertainment has been dreaming up innovative ways to bring new life to the beloved story of Ariel’s journey to be part of the human world. When it opens, the show will feature stunning new set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold new design that captures Ariel’s imagination and emotions through her unique view of the world around her.

“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” will have guests flipping their fins to musical numbers inspired by the film including “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and more. Check out this beautiful concept artwork of the show’s “Kiss the Girl” scene – an all-new addition that captures the magic of this fresh production.

With construction inside the theater well underway, we can’t wait to share more in the coming months as the show comes together. Be sure to swim back to the Disney Parks Blog for updates.
Sounds awesome!

Whilst I'm happy we're getting a show in that building, it does mean that Animation Courtyard & Launch Bay have no plans to be knocked down and replaced with something new
Not sure this was ever in the conversation

I would love to see new shows at WDW that are at the level of those at DLP. Mickey and Magician and the Lion King there are both very good! Maybe the Beauty and the Beast stage will get something like that? But I feel it needs to be an indoor space.

DLP needs indoor because of the weather . I think WDW can pull of semi sheltered shows without a problem

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Closing in Early January for Lengthy Refurbishment

Disney has not commented on the work to be done during the refurbishment. The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster refurbishment is scheduled to begin on January 8th and last through at least February, which is as far out as the refurbishment calendar currently goes.
I, for one, wouldn't mind a refurb, except for the fact that it would take forever to do it.

I love this ride, and it is a huge must do several times each trip. But how many people actually love the ride because of Aerosmith and how many even know who they are or care about Aerosmith?

It's a great ride, but it would still be great no matter what the theme

I remember reading on WDWMagic that in 2023, Rock n Roller Coaster was the most frequent ride to go down during the day, so I assume that they're using this refurb to address mechanical issues that the prior refurb didn't fix.

Hate to see the news about rockin rollercoaster. It’s our favorite ride and we will be there beginning of March.
