Do we have to mask in the airports and on planes? As you can see from my post, we ahve not flown in a while. Thanks!

Thanks so much y'all! I searched the internet and the airport/airlines and got different answers so I called the airline and they said not required.

Totally optional for now. We see maybe 10% of the passengers wearing them at the airport and on the plane. We also carry masks in case someone is hacking up a lung nearby.

In September, we wore them on the plane to MCO just to protect from any viruses on the plane (have gotten sick from people on planes before). But coming home, we did not. We did this because we did not want to get sick potentially at the start of the vacation, but were not as worried when we came home. Just do what works for you and your family.

Like others have said, optional at this point. We've actually opted to continue wearing them in the airports and on the plane when traveling, finding we end up not getting sicknesses of any kind (beyond Covid concerns!) when we do. Airports and planes just seem to be a petrie dish of stuff we don't want to deal with anymore, and since we have a collection of the masks - it's been our choice to continue. Prior to the pandemic, one of us seemed to develop some kind of cold or cough or sore throat after every flight, it seemed. So for a couple hours in the airport and a couple hours in the plane, we just look to give ourselves a little protection - and it's worked the past couple years! But - our choice. Might not be yours!

I agree with the estimate above that stated maybe 10% still wearing them.

Optional, but this weekend about 20% wore them. I wore a mask coming home because the person two rows behind me definitely had something respiratory. And no, she wasn’t masked. Hopefully it was a nasty cold but I did not want that either.

Got very sick (non-COVID) a week ago from our WDW weekend … be diligent on the hygiene and surroundings …
On our trip in September, I wore a mask in any interior queue because I didn’t want to catch anything covid or non-covid. We also carry Wet Ones hand wipes to use before eating or drinking. I plan on having masks with me on my trip after Thanksgiving to use whenever I am in a crowd. It doesn’t have to be covid for a person to be really sick. I caught the fever and chills flu once at Disney, and I couldn’t leave my hotel room for three days. It was another couple of weeks before I was over it. All because someone walking past turned their head and sneezed right in my face . . .

Just as long as those wear them wear the the correct way. I’ve seen quite a few wear them below their nose or better yet under their chin

Don’t they realize the masks dont help at all worn that way.
It’s more then the mask slipped down cause they never adjust it

I see it mostly at casinos and planes

Even though it's no longer required, I still wear a mask at the airport, in the airplane, in any kind of transportation, in indoor queues and even outdoors if there's a big crowd. That's just my personal choice.

I haven't gotten sick at WDW in years--and I used to come home with some kind of cold or flu every time--since I started doing this . . . until last trip. During last trip, my traveling companion kept taking their mask off, saying they couldn't deal with it. And of course I wasn't wearing a mask in the room we shared together. They got sick and when I got home, so did I. Not covid, but a really nasty bug.

If the upcoming trip produces the same non-masked-ness in my traveling companion, I'm not sure what I'm going to do, since I really don't want to wear a mask in the room and at night. But maybe I will.

That’s ridiculous. If you and your traveling companion can’t come to a mutual understanding that’s actually respected they are not the right travel companion for you. Solo trips are lovely too!

She's under strict orders for our forthcoming trip, and she's going to bring cloth masks just in case she can't deal with the KN94 ones. Plus, I'll yell at her! And I'm her sister. I think it'll be okay. At least, it had better be.

One thought but it would make the trip more expensive but separate connecting rooms

That way you’d both be comfortable in your own rooms but it wold be easy to go back and forth

I sure couldn’t wear a mask in my own hotel room. Nor would I expect someone to wear one just for me.
Sure it’s no fun being sick anytime but for me I’m not wearing a mask the rest of my life but that’s just me

This is unaffordable by me, and my sister promised to mask. So I'm hopeful.

The mask thing is an individual decision. But I will say that since I started masking, except for the trip in July when my sister didn't, I have never gotten sick at WDW, and I used to come home with a cold or flu or something every single time I went there. I'm also into washing my hands and sanitizing when bathrooms aren't available. That's just good practice in life, in general.

(Edited to fix typo...even though there might be others I didn't see!)

We are definitely wearing masks on the plane AND AT DISNEY on this mid Dec trip. At church yesterday, there were at the very least 6 people who either were home with Covid, just got over Covid, have Long Covid or sure sounded sick with coughing as in a bad head/chest cold. Made us very uncomfortable and made a decision we are definitely going to err on the side of caution. We are old and I am autoimmune compromised and have been very pro masks and hand sanitizers/soap. (we don't care one bit if people say they do nothing). Thus far, we have not had Covid and have stayed on site/gone to Disney 5-7 times since/during pandemic.

Got all boosters even though despised getting them and don't approve. Several friends are in health care and heard horror stories about the seriously ill so we gave in. Mentally feel better about it even though not a fan of vaccines in general.

Yep....just put many masks on a packing pile. And a zip lock baggie with Covid Cocktail natural pills. (D, Zinc etc. etc. )
Everyone has to do what makes them personally feel slightly more comfortable in this Covid world.

to comment of your church story Covid has just gone thru our church also and the cough lasts a lot longer than the Covid. Docter cleared to return to activities well before cough ended. still can cough if I get overheated a month out. and yes had the booster scheduled but got Covid a few days before. Ps one of the ones who got the worst in our group was the one who masked all the time cause she medically can not have the vaccine.
