Construction Begins on Grand Floridian Gingerbread House for 2023 Holiday Season

While the rest of the country celebrates Halloween, crews are working on bringing the Grand Floridian gingerbread house to life today. As part of the first phase of the project, Disney’s in-house general contractors are building the frame of the gingerbread house today before the culinary team dresses it later this week.

The annual Halloween golf cart parade took place on Monday at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. For this event, guests rent golf carts and decorate them with their own Halloween “costumes,” often inspired by Disney Parks attractions. The parade took place at 4:30 p.m. on October 30, 2023.

The parade began with two horses and their riders leading the pack, carrying an American Flag and a Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground flag.

One of the golf carts was a giant Zero, Jack Skellington’s ghost dog from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Another golf cart was a massive recreation of the Stretching Room from the Haunted Mansion.

Jessie and Bullseye from “Toy Story” had their own covered wagon-inspired golf cart.

Another “Nightmare Before Christmas”-inspired golf cart was in the parade, bringing the Mayor of Halloween Town’s car to life. The Mayor’s car was also a popcorn bucket this year for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Another golf cart was styled to look like a Walt Disney World Monorail car.

WDWNT also took part in this year’s parade, and our golf cart was inspired by the defunct attraction, ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter — with “Skippy” as the driver!

Fort Wilderness guests also decorate their campsites for Camp-Or-Treat.

The Fort is pretty much THE place to be over Halloween ... I think outside guests without proof of a reservation are even locked out over a few days. I've done a couple of Halloweens in the 100 and 200 loops and trick or treating was insane in a good way.

Emergency crews evacuate guests from monorail breakdown at Walt Disney World

Monorail Yellow suffered a sudden failure this morning as it was carrying guests on the EPCOT beam at Walt Disney World.

Fox35 is reporting a quote from a passenger, "There was a loud bang explosion, and then we kind of saw a big flash of light. After that, the monorail slowed down."

Reedy Creek has confirmed to local news outlets that a Disney monorail was stuck and that Reedy Creek Fire Department and Orange County Fire Department responded.

*Update it was a flat tire that caused the monorail to stop in place:
This morning, the monorail experienced a flat tire near the EPCOT parking lot toll plaza. No guests or cast members have reported injuries, and all passengers were safely evacuated.”

Disney-Themed Delivery Helps Kids at Children’s Hospitals Nationwide Get into the Halloween Spirit

This Halloween season, The Walt Disney Company collaborated with the non-profit Starlight Children’s Foundation to deliver Disney-themed costumes, wheelchair covers, toys, and books to children’s hospitals nationwide. To celebrate the delivery, pediatric patients at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware in Wilmington were treated to a fun-filled day of films, costumes, and a chance to meet Mickey Mouse himself.

The Disney-themed Starlight delivery, featuring products from shopDisney, allowed pediatric patients to experience the magic of Halloween and also providing them with a much-needed break from procedures and treatments. “I was really stressed about this surgery on Wednesday, but now I don’t think about it anymore because I have Mickey Mouse here,” said Natalie Corbett, a parent of a patient at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware. “It’s wonderful to have such a healthy distraction in a stressful time of life.”

From superheroes to princesses, pediatric patients were able to embrace the power of play and partake in a normal childhood experience from the safety of the hospital. “Kids should be able to participate in the fun, regardless of their circumstances,” said Bernie Prazenica, President and General Manager at 6 ABC. “We hope the products from our shopDisney team will provide patients and families with a much-needed break from treatments and procedures, and let kids be kids again.”

For more than 20 years, The Walt Disney Company and Starlight Children’s Foundation have been teaming up to bring Disney stories and characters to over 800 children’s hospitals and pediatric places of care throughout the United States. Hospitals receive Disney-themed Starlight hospital gowns and pants, toy deliveries and care packages, as well as complimentary Disney+ and Disney Movie Moments access. Utilized by Child Life Specialists and clinicians to provide play and comfort to pediatric patients, these vital programs are Disney-funded and offered at no cost to hospitals.

“The Child Life program at Nemours Children’s Health is dedicated to going beyond medical care to enhance the lives of our patients and their families by providing free support services and fun activities,” said Jennifer Sciolla, Assistant Vice President, Child and Family Services, Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley. “We are very thankful for the generous delivery from Starlight Children’s Foundation and Disney. Their support helped to create a magical and unforgettable Halloween event for our patients!”

While play is a natural and essential part of childhood, it can be a powerful tool in promoting healing and recovery. With resources like toy deliveries provided by Disney, Child Life Specialists and clinicians use play to help young patients process their emotions, develop coping skills, and express themselves in a safe and supportive environment. And most importantly, it delivers joy and comfort to young patients and their families when it’s needed most.

Man, they just get new parades all the time over at TDR! And here we'd be happy to just get 50 year old MSEP back.

In MN, we had our second-snowiest Halloween ever. Only about 2 inches at my house, but that’s much better than the 20+ inches we had on the snowiest Halloween ever 😂😂
I lived in MN during the mid 90s. Experienced the coldest winter on record where the low was -32°F and the highs for the day were -20°, along with snow that fell right before Halloween and stayed until May. We built a snowman on Halloween; there was a mild ice storm a few days later, and our snowman lasted until April. By the time the highs were back in the 30s, I was getting my mail in shorts 😂😂
