Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

That was another thing. Not for nothing, but a LOT of Star Wars fans would... *ahem* ...probably go solo. I mean, I am one, so, I know what I'm talking about. I don't know whether to 😆 or 😢 about that one. 😉

🤷‍♀️ It doesn’t have to be weird . . . it’s just an expensive experience to get a lot of people to agree on, especially when half of them only like the original trilogy.

Okay, blue sky idea about it: Looking at where it is on a map, it's not far, but not that close either. They should construct a themed conveyance system to take HS guests over and back. This would be like a Rafiki's Planet Watch area. Once there, have a Star Wars restaurant, maybe some kind or show or activity, however the space can be configured. Make the conveyance part of the experience, or even a ride unto itself. Just a thought.

Sorry, I'm just from that generation of unloved nerds. It's okay. 🙂

Or give it a seasonal flair. Sometimes, it's a Mandalorian outpost, sometimes it's the Boonta Eve races. Lean into the lore. There are tons of options.

Like the Hogwarts Express at Universal. At its most basic level, it’s just a train with Harry Potter easter eggs

I've said it before ... Adventurer's Club style Star Wars attraction. The business model of charging a cover and focusing on the alcohol sales and character interaction with cosplay seems like a no-brainer

They need to break apart the storyline and sell these offerings a la carte. They could charge a pretty penny for just the overnight accommodations if people aren't required to pay a packaged price for everything. Provide transportation between GE and the hotel and sell dining experiences for $99/per person, light-saber training and other options for various pricing. Look how hard it is to book Space 220, Savi's and Oga's. Many people would take a piece of the Starcruiser, but most just can't justify the commitment to the entire thing.
Figured I bump this since it could be relevant! 🤣

Price aside, as a role playing fan I’m so glad we have a June voyage booked. I’m sad that we’re losing this unique experience…

I am so happy for you! We had an amazing time in March and so did my friends who went 2 weeks after my family. I wanted to get back, but it doesn't look like it's in the cards. You will have an amazing time!!!!

For everyone with thoughts about what to do with it, none of you have been, so these ideas are antithetical to what makes the Starcruiser special. Have fun in your Dagobah swamp pool.

Removing Howard, an excellent documentary about the man who helped save the Walt Disney Company and kickstarted the Disney Renaissance when his music will be in the new Little Mermaid remake coming out next week is INSANE. If you haven't seen it, watch it right now. Also right before Pride Month too....

Hopefully all of these aren't going next week. If you're going to remove stuff, a little head's up would have been nice

I really don't get whay they are removing any of it? Does it really cost them money just to have it there? Do they have to pay the actors like a third of a cent every time it's streamed? Just relegate the stuff to the back catalog and let it sit.

My (uneducated) guess is that it's for tax write-off purposes similar to when HBO Max removed a ton of content from their service and cancelled a few movies that were already finished like Batgirl and a Scooby Doo movie.

Especially since most, if not, everything they're removing is literally not available anywhere else to watch. Not advocating for this, but the only way to watch this content would be to do so illegally.

Yep ... that's why I still collect physical media. I still purchase 4K Bluray of the stuff I really like. I also still buy CDs ... I rip the music so I have a digital copy, but have the physical copy if the streaming platforms decide to drop them.

Here's the problem ... Many studios are no longer even releasing physical sets of their streaming series. So if stuff like Willow gets dropped, now they're gone for good (except for illegal as you mentioned). It may end up sold to a FAST service at some point though, as that's what HBO did recently with stuff like Westworld and a few others moving to Tubi

I was still getting Blurays from Netflix until they shuttered that this year ... and Netflix made that decision only to try and force more people into digital where you have a smaller catalog they control!
