D23 Expo September 9-11, 2022 Superthread **Updates in Posts 2 & 3**

I’m at the Sheraton, and am used to going before dawn, and if they have a dedicated queue for the preferred seating it will make it easier. I am used to early, but I “am” older now, so just thinking of logistics for sitting on the ground and the undignified getting to my feet. Lol

That's where I'm at too! Assuming I made it to the ground - would I ever get back up again. :rotfl2:

Either the physical QR code at the store ( which won’t be open to guests at 6 am) or online through the app
My take on this as I read it…I’m assuming they are not going to have any times set before the floor opens. You can join the queue at 6AM but I’d assume they’ll give you a return time to shop once the floor opens and go from there…but that just me assuming,,,who knows what they will really do…

Im also at the Sheraton! I got a cheap seat cushion for when I have to sit on the floor. Its not super comfortable bc its thin but its better than nothing thats for sure.

I'll be bringing my old Fantasmic cushion to hopefully make waits a bit easier lol.

To that end, what's on everyone's pack lists?

I've got: Fantasmic cushion, anker chargers, water bottle, some mini kind bars (which may or may not be tossed at security, but they're for health reasons), tylenol in case stuff gets loud and/or stressful lol, masks, a hoodie for the cold, disney membership cards (d23, dvc, ap), and a book/headphones for waiting in line. I'm sure I'm forgetting things. Badge, obviously -- I remember them giving us lanyards last time but I might bring my own in case?

Good list! They will give out lanyards but it doesn't hurt to have an extra one. I would add sanitizing wipes and/or hand sanitizer. They'll surely have hand sanitizing stations but it's better not to have to go out and find them. DH will likely have allergy medicine for his sinuses and I'll also probably pack a little notebook because I like to jot stuff down to remember to look up later, like the name of someone we want to know more about, etc.

Yes, great ideas!

A few more to add to the list:
- Kleenex ( in case the restrooms are out of TP…. It’s happened 😬).
- Tube for posters, prints, art you might pick up
- Cash…. Though most people take plastic now, the connection Is poor in the convention center … plus I believe there is no longer an ATM in the convention center

Tube for posters is a great idea. It'll be so much easier to pack that way. But wish me luck convincing DH to let us roll them up if they're not rolled up to begin with.

My preference is always not to roll them, but if there’s the possibility of creases and bent corners…. Than rolled it is

+1 to all the suggestions above.
I make sure I don't need to plan on con food for my lunch or snax. The lines can be long, prices are expensive with little nutritional value. Not a fan of con food.
I keep a small fold up bag with me just in case I do shop at the con (though for me, it's rare). At Celebration this year they were giving out lanyards and small fold up bags at the health screening area. They were quite nice. :)

A fold up bag is a great idea - especially if it zips close. If you need to take it to the bag check it’s nice to say “Oh it’s xxxx color” and being zipped up your contents shouldn’t spill out.

Ugh- really? They give out lanyards? So glad I got suckered into buying one when I bought my tickets.... :headache:

Yes, but that means you have to carry your badge with you until they had you the lanyard. I had made some in 2019 for my sister and I to use since I am not a big lanyard fan. This year, I am using one that I had gotten as a gift for a cruise I was supposed to go on that is more like a necklace. Hopefully, I can handle that better.

In my experience for a different convention (Star Wars) I find the purchased lanyard are a MUCH better quality and design. I can't speak to D23 though. I like to get the purchased lanyard as a souvenir.
This is usually the case. I’m trying to find my 2019 badge since I had clipped it to my ABD lanyard which I want to use again.

I would rather bring food, but I thought it wasn't allowed?

I would rather bring food, but I thought it wasn't allowed?
In every con I've been to, whether very large or small, I've always been able to bring in small snacks that when judiciously timed serve to keep me sustained during the con day. I also have a substantial breakfast before I go (meaning lots of protein and hydration). I tend to be on the go a-lot during a con, so taking anything longer than 10-20min isn't my "cup of tea." I don't pack a victorian picnic. ;)

Technically, it’s not, unless you have a medical reason or bring a baby. However, people, including myself, have gotten away with bringing a small amount of snack type things. They will usually say something about a meal though, like to go food, pizza, or a sandwich. I brought a snack size ziplock of trail mix last time and maybe a small amount of candy.
