What's your supply chain issue? How's this one for a start?

Coke Zero -- again. It started running low in stock just before Halloween, and it's disappearing here as we get closer to the Thanksgiving holidays. I asked a Coke vendor about it the last time this happened back in the early summer; he said that particular syrup is imported.

Just back from grocery store......it had a lot of Coke Zero, Coke and Diet coke.
I have had trouble finding diet Barq's root beer for months

gotta share this b/c it amused me-went shopping this week at walmart. was trying (to no avail) to get a number of dry goods/non perishables that we tend to use almost exclusively during the winter months. very little if any on the shelves (and not just picked through-the shelves don't even show spots for them at this point) YET several items i searched unsuccessfully for all summer were in FULL stock-jack daniels marinades, canned 3 bean salad, some other what i consider more hot weather/bbq foods and supplies. i'm thinking that long sought for summer stock finally arrived so i may as well plan on doing my winter cooking next spring or early summer :rotfl:

Chewy is out of stock on the cat food we use. I ended up ordering it from Target and paying almost $5 more per box than on Chewy.

Milk and half and half. I can get milk usually, but not always. Half and half has been super hard to get and the last 3 times I've been to the store they've been entirely out. I did get some heavy cream, though.
That baffles me. Most stores around here own their own dairies and use local farms. Not like it's coming from China. No dairy shortage here.

I’ve experienced this for months, especially organic half and half.

Well, I am in California, the largest dairy producing state. But it is regional.
Do you get the California Dairy commercials that we get in Wisconsin. California taunts Wisconsin so bad. It is sad though, the little 40 cow dairy farms are almost non existence. If you do not run your farm now as a business and milk at least 1000 cows, you are not profitable.

The other day I noticed Shop Rite was practically wiped out of cream cheese, both blocks and tubs of whipped. They had blocks of SR brand widely spaced to make the case appear a bit full.

Specifically I was looking for Kraft (Philadelphia) whipped cream cheese with veggies. Nope. SR brand would have been OK, but the only tubs available were with salmon or other yucky flavors.
Same here-cream cheese-Philadelphia more than others-is almost non existent in south central PA!

Yes we do. Both the "Happy California Cows" and "Real California Dairy" ads. I had to look up, but the average California dairy farm has 1,263 cows. If each cow produces 6 to 7 gallons of milk today, even with that many cattle it wouldn't be enough milk to fill up at 12,000 gallon milk tanker. So I can see the need for bigger herds.

safeway has had it's lucerne dairy products for ages and it's the one brand that their stores in our area have had the hardest time during the pandemic getting certain products in sufficient stock. it's become the norm when their ads have a sale on a particular item for the stores to have signage on the cooler explaining that they are out of stock on it but will honor the price advertised on other brands they do have in stock.

Chicken livers. Sounds stupid, but my sister and I are getting together this weekend, and this is a "childhood" supper that we can only share with each other (obviously!). Unfortunately, NONE of the stores around here can get them!

We haven't ben able to find chocolate graham crackers for a couple months now...seems like an odd thing to be out of.

Oh no! I use those to make "Christmas crack" (chocolate graham crackers with melted peppermint chips). I am going to have to start keeping an eye out for them now so i can hopefully have a box or two by Christmas.

My husband takes them to work for breakfast and most years they are hard to find in the summer months. My guess is that they shift production to regular ones for summer 'smores. Usually they come back on the shelves around early September...this year I haven't been able to find them at any stores - I've checked three chain grocery stores, CVS, Target and Walmart...Christmas crack sounds delicious...hope you find some!

Red meat has gotten expensive but not necessarily a supply chain issue for various cuts.

The shockingly sparse area at my local CVS? The vitamin section. Every other part of the first aid and medical station is filled. Need surgical or KN95 masks? They have them. Bandaids? Overpopulating shelves. Braces for joints? Normal stock amount. Tylenol and Advil? Decent amount left. Neosporin? You’re good.

But vitamins? Even the ones I didn’t need to purchase? Almost empty or just lucking out (seriously I got the second to last bottle of the one I needed on a maybe 6 bottle total shelf)

They are usually harder to find early in the season like right after thanksgiving, so i usually keep my eye out around then. Your theory about the summer makes sense!

Philly cream cheese here was $2.50 for an 8 ounce block at the store yesterday,
I am checking Walmart today

Walmart has been having some issues too lately. Part of it is they are pushing thanksgiving so if you want jarred gravy that isn’t Turkey you have to look. Also depending where you are some prices aren’t better.

Hmm I wonder if people are buying those in prep for this late fall/winter season?? **Even though I bet most people taking them don't actually know if their body needs them.
