New Disney World AP Pay and get less?

Is one of the requirements to obtain Florida resident passes still an active bank account with a Florida address?

I haven't had a chance to read this entire thread, so I apologize if this has been discussed (it probably has). If I book an on-property stay, do I get "free" park-booking days for that period? Assuming I buy the Pirate Pass (I hate that name so much!) I can only make three reservations. If I go ahead and book those reservations for upcoming dates, so am out of reservations, can I then book an on-property stay for a night and get two more reservations?

We live a little less than and hour and a half away, and the way I'm picturing this working for us is that I'll need to utilize two of our reservations for upcoming planned visits, so we can be sure to get in. Then we can keep the third reservation free for spontaneous visits, like if we decide on a Friday night to go to one of the parks that weekend. I'm just wondering if there will be enough opportunity for spontaneity with so many dates blocked off, and how likely it'll be that we can even get last-minute park reservations.

Ugh, I may have to bite the bullet and go for the Sorcerer (I hate that name only mildly less than Pirate).

When is Disney going to define what “Discounts on dining, merchandise and more” actually means? Should we expect bigger discounts on the Incredi-Pass than the Sorcerer?

That extra $400 between the two passes seems tough to justify unless you plan on visiting more than 2 of those Thanksgiving/Christmas days that are blocked out.

If this is your first Florida resident pass, you will need to go to GS at any park or a ticket window or DS. They will request a Florida ID.
I'm also a newer resident - we have purchased the FL resident 4-day pass before just not an AP - does that mean I will have to go in person someplace on the 8th to purchase our APs or will I be able to purchase them online since we've had FL resident 4-day passes before?

I know I saw it mentioned earlier, but just want to confirm.

If I buy a Sorcerer pass on Sept 8th, it doesn't actually activate until I use it correct? So say I didn't use it until mid October 2021, the pass would then be good for a year and run out in mid October 2022, correct?

So we are DVC/FL resident gold passholders and are in our window to renew....and we did today. I know that we are locking in the MM and the current blackout calendar, but I was wondering if there was anything that we were missing out on by not getting one of the new passes? Less reservation dates? Anything with Genie pass thing? Lightning lane? Thanks everyone in advance.

There are no Genie+ or IA$ benefits to the new APs. The block out dates are different for Gold vs Sorcerer but if those dates don't affect your usage, the impact is negligible. The new APs allow for 5 reservation dates to be held at one time while the Gold AP only allows 3. If you have an onsite hotel reservation, those park reservation restrictions don't apply.

My inactivated pass said 12/31/2030, but changed to “DVC Gold Pass Exchange 12/31/2099” this week:View attachment 601538

I have no idea what that means for me come 10/2 but I hope Disney can let us know what we can all expect. They previously honored old passes and I hope they must do that for everyone holding onto passes…especially those whose trips could be affected by different blackout dates.
at least it expires 2099 now if you need to hold onto activating it for a few more years.

WHY is DIsney making tickets so complicated right now? Honor people's gold, honor other tickets. Move on to the new passes when they can. There's no need for this and all it does is upset guests and cast members alike.
i hear ya. just let people have this 1 additional year if already purchased. like it really makes a difference. then when renewal comes up you have to change with the times.

I'm still taking this all in. We go again in April if I don't cx. I guess I can get a gold pass to save a little. Do we know if there are DVC discounts yet? I hate to even ask.

There is just a lot to take in over the past few weeks. Some of it comical. . . some of it typical. . . I do miss going. I don't see us doing the genie+ thing but I might have to bite the bullet for the LL thing cause we haven't been there since june before COVID so we still didn't get to experience Galaxy's Edge yet!

there are currently no plans for a Genie + discount/add on or discounts on the A la carte lightning lanes for passholders in either program

passholders in the old program (silver, gold, platinum…) will be getting a larger reservation allotment as of 9/8 so Gold will be 5 rolling + length of stay same as sorcerer

I havent seen that anywhere.......I would be using Disney GC's to upgrade......not sure how they would address match my credit card anyways?

I just bought Florida tickets on the phone. You have to use a credit card that bills to Florida, and the CM made me update my address to the billing address of my credit card. I guess it would be possible to have an out of state address in your account profile and use something else for your billing address, but then you wouldn't be able to see the Florida options anyway.

GCs are an interesting loophole I didn't think of...

Ahh.....I see what youre saying.....but I am planning on upgrading park passes at WDW, not planning on buying them ahead of my trip.

I am FURIOUS at Disney. I just called because we have gold pass vouchers that are not yet activated and a trip scheduled for Thanksgiving week. I was told yesterday that everything from the gold pass would be honored but got scared because others were told the opposite. They told me today that we would have to pay the extra money to upgrade to the Incredi-pass in order to use those passes at Thanksgiving. I argued that when we bought the passes a few months ago, Thanksgiving week was covered and I am not interested in paying them more money for something that should be covered by the passes I already purchased. They told me either I do that or trade the passes in for day-tickets. I told them the passes are useless for us if they’re not going to honor Thanksgiving week, so I told them I wanted our money back and that I was done. VERY disappointed in what Disney has become. This is not the Disney my family fell in love with.
Did you get the refund?

I’m glad you got your refund and hope you find something awesome for your family instead.

For those with unactivated APs and upcoming reservations, I received my email response from Disney, which confirmed that the passes must either be activated by 9/8 or the blackout dates will convert to the new blackout schedule (sorcerer pass in our case).
That’s just so messed up. Thank goodness people can get refunds if they’re in the Thanksgiving Trap- but that’s the literally the least Disney could do (and are probably only doing it because people would file chargebacks on their cc and debit cards and fighting the chargebacks isn’t worth it).

There are certain things you can say are "subject to change" and some you cannot. Taken to Disney's logical extreme - they could suddenly say the Gold Pass only grants you admission on alternate Tuesday's after 2pm. Being subject to capacity controls - changes in park hours, etc. are things that they can change. Whether you can enter the park or not based on their whim they will have a lot more trouble defending and will likely result in a lawsuit if they push it too far. They may just decide however to offer a refund figuring they'd rather do that than honor any gold passes . . . but they can't just unilaterally change material terms.

Just because a lawsuit is filed doesn't mean it will be successful. And if a lawsuit is filed, I don't think Disney's response is going to be "a lawsuit! Why didn't we foresee that we might get sued over this?" I have a feeling these changes have been reviewed by their lawyers. And as you pointed out simply offering a refund would negate any damages.
