Congrats on the graduation! Sorry for the no in person ceremony. They are having in person ceremonies for DD that missed out last year but she refuses to come back for it. I am sad about that. We are also cash flowing college (combined 8 years down, 4 more to go!) I keep thinking we will have so much more travel funds when it is over!

I know. Lots more travel. Can't wait. Although DH needs a new truck so my rent payments may just be converted to truck payments...

Does anyone see their Marriott certs with a new expiration yet? It was set to go in place today I believe. Mine have not changed and I'm just checking because I wasn't sure if they were eligible. I can't remember when I got them.
I forget what was eligible. But the two I have expiring 8/1/2021 are two that would have expired in October and November of 2020. That was their 2nd extension. The first was to Dec 31 2020.
I have 1 with 8/1/21 expiration, is that not eligible for extension? I have one with 4/5/22 expiration. I can not keep up with all the extensions.

Wondering if I need to rush to find a use for the first one, we do have some travel coming up with softball so while possibly not a great value, I'm sure I can find something.

They're getting extended to 1/3/22, so the 4/5/22 should be a new one you got last month.

Website says change will be reflected on May 10.

ETA: LOL they underlined and bolded that part. Don't think that was there first time I looked.

Ugh.... DH's Travel credit resets 6/2... I was going to buy DGC on that day at the grocery store than downgrade once the $300 credit post. But if this is accurate it means we would be missing out on 30K URs + $50 grocery store credit, about $500. The earliest DH could apply is 6/7.
Man that’s close. Close enough that maybe the offer may still be available? Don’t the offer links sometimes still work a couple weeks past official deadline? Trying to be optimistic for you ☺️

I feel your pain. One of my kids is technically graduating today but all they are getting is a YouTube video. I’m sadder than I had expected not to have all of the pomp—it was a very hard grad program and I wish she (we) could formally celebrate the accomplishment of finishing.

I will be super interested in your experience. I have rooms booked at Hyatt in September but waiting on Covid return testing guidelines to be updated before grabbing airfare. We loved the property when we went many years ago.
I shouldn’t have read reviews. I see Hilton was a former Radisson which is throwing me up from booking it and I can’t figure out if I get club access as a Diamond with Hilton. I think I might actually end up with a split stay since they are right next to each other.

No current MSR and currently 1/24 (a CSP opened in July 2020)

We are expecting a quote to landscape our back yard and I am guessing it will be in the $20K range. There is not a chance in the world I can pay for it outright, so somewhere interest will have to be paid.

Would it be insane to 1- take out a personal loan at a low-ish interest rate (relative to a credit card interest rate) and then 2- open a new card with a good SUB (and a high enough CL, which could be a challenge unless it's a personal...), put the entire cost on the new card, and then immediately pay off the card with the personal loan?

If this is NOT insane, what card would you recommend? I have a better relationship with Chase (2 personal and multiple biz cards) than Amex (only a BBP with a credit balance so Amex probably doesn't like me much right now but I've never applied for a personal with them).

Thoughts?

I sure with AA would extend their credits, like some of these hotel companies are doing LOL.

If you have equity in your house, you can look at a HELOC. That should be lower interest than a personal loan.

When we booked our Dubai/Maldives trip it was with Alaska miles on Emirates to take advantage of the free stopover. I can’t say that I’ve seen 6 business class seats available for award bookings directly through the airline, much less as a partner award. If that’s the route your going to go for, I’d suggest booking however many are available on Alaska as partner awards and then hope that there are more available directly with Emirates.

If you want to book Qatar I’d do it via BA Avios over AA. Especially if you are looking for 6 award seats. AA booking availability will open up at 331 days out. However BA bookings open at 355. Meanwhile Qatar opens up availability at 361 days.

Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for the very specific opening dates. I do see lots of 6 award availability directly through Emirates, but that may be due to the pandemic. I’ll try to be flexible to an extent with point accrual. Everyone’s advice about practicing and hawking in preparation will be helpful in knowing how many I may be able to score.

We haven't had a I hate bofa business card online stuff lately. So confused but maybe it'll sort itzelf out. I had a bal of 40 and some change and then the 1k for my car deposit that put me over the msr. I knew I'd get the 200 statement credit so I paid 840 and some change expecting it to 0 out. Then I put 11 and change for a reward flight taxes on the card. So I should only owe the 11 something but I have a credit of 29 something and just got an email for my statement that cut yesterday. Nothing makes sense. I wish you could just pay on the employee card instead of the biz acct. Guess I should have just waited for the statement but I wanted to get it paid last week. Oiy

Oh ok thank you; husband mentioned that as possibility.

Would it be possible to use that in conjunction with a new card/MSR/SUB? I don't really know how a HELOC works. It's (presumably) not quite the same as having cash in your pocket, is it?

You could pay the bills with a CC then payoff the CC with the HELOC
