So looking to Rent DVC Points for next May. So want to have an owner lined up so this can be booked in June., There will be 5 of us going for sure (possibly 6). Normally we stay at BWV and love the area. So, was looking at BWV 2 Bedroom Unit. (which is actually a 1 Bedroom and Studio). Always wanted to stay at Poly and found a video and really like that the studios have 2 bathrooms. So, we could do 2 Studios.

I don't know how may Studios Poly has. Trying to figure out what would be easier to get at the 11th month mark. BWV Standard View 2 Bedroom or Poly Studio Standard View (2 of them).

For those who have a Platinum Amex, how do you justify the fee? I got a 100k offer in the mail for 5k spend in 6 months. I fly United and Alaska, so I have no idea what to do with MRs. All advice and opinions welcome and appreciated.

my guess it would be easier to get the 2 Poly SV studios....
we own at BWV and it seems like the SV studios and 2BRs go right at 8am at 11 months

Are the AMEX Biz cards (considering the Marriott biz card) like Chase biz cards in that they don’t count against your 5/24? Are they similarly “easy” to get like Chase biz cards (that is - my “business” of selling crap on Facebook and ebay is a sufficient business)? I got my most recent card (Chase United Quest - personal) on April 19. How long should I wait to apply for an AMEX biz card? Any other weird things to know before I apply? This would be my first AMEX card.

I think you need to have a use for the MR to start with. There's credits that help off set it but that's all relative. I wouldn't be getting that tale out meal but i need to use my uber eats credits since I only use uber on vacation.

MR are great for international flights. It's best to look and see who their transfer partners are and if you'd use any of them. MR are easiest acquired via an msr I to me but my main grocery store doesn't code as grocery for amex.

They do not count against your 5/24. They are just as easy to get as Chase, and yes, you can go ahead and apply now. AMEX isn’t concerned with your Chase card. I think AMEX cards are the easiest to get in general as they have fewer “rules”. The only problem for some people is the pop-up. Being as this is your first AMEX card you shouldn’t see the pop-up. The problem comes when you go for a 2nd, 3rd AMEX card. They like you to keep continued spend on your current cards in order to offer you a SUB on a new card. So when applying for an AMEX card you need to consider if it’s a card you will continue to put spend on. AMEX is finicky about giving SUBS for future cards if you’re not using, or have recently closed one of their cards.

Thank you. My grocery store (Fred Meyer) doesn’t count either, which is why I’ve never bothered to upgrade the Amex that I have.

Thanks! I’m interested in Marriott points because I love Swan and Dolphin. I know they might not be the optimal use for Marriott points, but a few free nights would be a lovely perk. So even though I’m only 3 weeks since getting the United card, I should be ok to apply for the Marriott biz card? (My card before that was a CIC on 2/26/21.) (I’ve got a stay at Dolphin coming up June 8, hence my rush.)

At that age my grandkids loved when I found nursery rhymes such as the 'wheels on the bus go round and round' and other similar sing song stuff on my laptop for them. That held their interest for quite a while. Just the old school stuff on a screen, but it worked. Now they fly with their own tablets and headphones. And its Paw Patrol, and a whole lot of other stuff.
I found that Disney+ has nursery rhymes so I put it on after we played outside for a bit. He was really hot and needed time to cool off. He really liked it! We sing a lot of those songs already so he recognized them and loved seeing Mickey

Thanks. Now to try and find a Poly owner to rent points. Don't see many Poly Owners on the Rent/Trade board. But will see what happens. Looks like Poly has quite a few more Studios than at BWV too. Just not sure how many are Standard and how many are Lake View.

Yup, same store. I just use my amex when I shop sales at Safeway. I won't be keeping my gold card unless they give me a retention offer that's good. The card is basically useless when chase codes Fred's as groceries.

I think you should be fine to apply for the Marriott biz card. Are you planning on having those points for your June 8 stay? That's a tight timeline, I have doubts that you'd have the points in your account in time since you'd need for your statement to close in order the points to show up in your Marriott account. Or do you already have Marriott points, and are getting the biz Marriott to replenish your point stash?

Does anyone see their Marriott certs with a new expiration yet? It was set to go in place today I believe. Mine have not changed and I'm just checking because I wasn't sure if they were eligible. I can't remember when I got them.

Dh and I normally never bring clothes with us on the plane but I’ll try to remember to pack extras this time
I always had essentials for 1 day of lost luggage when I fly TO a destination (change of clothes, undies, bathing suit/sandals (if applicable), toothbrush, phone chargers, and Rx). I was less worried when flying home. But let me tell you, 5 hours with toddler puke in your bra/on your shirt really drives the point home! LOL

Oh I was planning to pay cash. Just thought it would be nice to get the 6x points plus higher status (for whatever that’s worth!)

Yeah that would do it lol. That sounds awful. I hope he doesn’t throw up 😕

The majority of the studios are Standard View so that should make it easier...you can also request connecting rooms if you’d like since the Poly does have them
