Are you suggesting that anyone going about their normal lives doesn't care that we are currently in the midst of a health scare?Granted I dont spend much time in the Trip Planning forums, but it looks vibrant over there. Those folks dont have a care in the world.
Really all it will take is for one person in the US to trace their catching Covid-19 to Disney World and that will be it for this year. Let's hope the virus runs out of steam soon.
My husband is in Italy now. Weather is nice, things are fairly normal. The media makes it sound like Armageddon and dead bodies on the side of the road.
I don't think they are quite painting that picture, but they did just shut down Disney Tokyo for 2 weeks. Do we not think that is a possibility for DL and WDW?

As of yesterday, there were around 60 confirmed cases in the US and almost 9000 more were being monitored. A tiny, tiny speck in perspective of the US population as a whole.Well, in my opinion, if we start over-reacting like that, it will be more than Disney World that is going to suffer.

ETA: It is here already as evidenced by the patient in California - probably has been hiding as the regular flu until someone decided to test. There is no way that person is the only person in the US that has it.
Nope.I don't think they are quite painting that picture, but they did just shut down Disney Tokyo for 2 weeks. Do we not think that is a possibility for DL and WDW?
Nope.
Admittedly I haven't really been following all the details of this, but I can't help but wonder what they think a 2 week shutdown of Disney will accomplish. Is Japan trying to just shutdown for a period of time that estimates the incubation time to try to get back to some baseline?
Nope.
I think, all it would take is for ONE person in the Orlando area to become infected and WDW would close down. I don't see Disney taking any chances.
Good lord, I sure hope WDW wouldn't have such a massive overreaction. For all anyone knows, someone without any symptoms but is a carrier has already been there and gone.I think, all it would take is for ONE person in the Orlando area to become infected and WDW would close down. In my household we’re only watching the daily medcram updates on the Coronavirus. They’re less sensational. Just facts. Think Dragnet.
From the outside it all seems pointless.Admittedly I haven't really been following all the details of this, but I can't help but wonder what they think a 2 week shutdown of Disney will accomplish.
