We went on Monday 1/27. Got bus at POFQ at 5:30. Through Bag line and in ticket line by 5:50. They started letting us in at 6:35. Had my phone ready, app closed. As soon as my clock hit 7 I opened the app, and join BG was greyed out, I immediately closed it, and repeated the process. Took approx 3 times until i was able to join a BG. (Note that it was still 7:00) We got BG 91. Lol. And poof they were gone.

The ride went down a couple times during the day, but for the most part ran smooth. We were notified at approx 3:30. On and off the ride by 4. Final confrontation was in B mode, but that is ok, everything was amazing, ride was excellent. My 7 year old absolutely loved it.

I think they got through 145 BG’s in total on monday. Highest yet?

That is three days in a row where the backup BG's run out later than the day before. I hope this trend continues since we cannot get to the park until 9:30ish for an 8:00 AM opening. Last two days have seen Backupg running out later than that with a 7:00 opening.

I am now convinced, in my unscientific, knowing nothing way, that they have set the BG to stop at 1 min and then after it's all backups. Maybe in preparation for those 8am openings

Makes sense. It's just too weird that every morning they fill up at 1 minute. Our trip is mid-March so anxiously waiting to see what they do with hours then.

I don’t know when they were gone, but I just checked at 10:06 and (not surprisingly) BGs are not available.

we were just at POFQ for 2 weeks and my advice would be get an Uber! We have 3 kids aged 5,3 and 1, park open was 7am, so we got them all up at 5 and were on the bus stop at 5.50. NO buses came until 6.48, and we didn't get to DHS until 7.08. ... We spoke to guest services about the bus service and they called the transportation department who had no idea why the bus didn't turn up for us.
Possibly pre-opening buses were being shared by PORS & POFQ, and the buses filled up before reaching POFQ. Obviously that's inexcusable; Transportaion should have been on top of it and sent more buses. I'm just offering a possible explanation.

Good morning all. BG 16!, Thank you for all of your helpful information.

Left Riviera at 6:04 via Uber.
Arrived at HS at 6:18.
Tapped in at 6:30.
Opened at 6:59:49 and refreshed until it was red.

FP for SDD at 7:50 then Oga at 10.

Again, thank you all so much for your helpful information.
How long did you wait for Uber?

Now that Feb 4th opening is at 8 instead of 9, I'm debating on trying to head to HS to snag a BG before our original plan of rope dropping AK. It's just me, my DH, and our 5 yr old; we're staying at Pop. Assuming the skyliner won't open until 7:30, our plan is to try to catch a bus at 7 and be at HS by 7:30. Once we tap into HS, head back out toward the buses and try to get a BG while waiting to catch a bus for AK. We plan to be back in HS around 2pm.

If it was just me and my DH, I wouldn't even question this and just do it. But since this requires getting my 5 yr old up earlier but still not actually going to be in a park until about 3 hours later, I'm just not sure. Btw, the 4th is our first park day of our trip. The only other chance at RotR will be when we're rope dropping HS on Feb 12th.

I know it's impossible to predict, but what BG number would correspond with a return time of 2? Should we even bother doing this; is it worth the extra effort?

I could see this being logical from their end.
Anyone that hits the park at park opening and knows the deal pretty much guarantees them a guaranteed BG. After 7:01, well you could be late to the party, no guarantees for you.

interesting thought, and would make sense as, as we have discussed many times, if you are there, in the park, ready to go prior to opening, unless you hit a major technical glitch, you should get your request in within the first minute - so, basically covers everyone that got there for park opening and then those that come after get a back-up (personally I would prefer like 2 or 3 minutes to account for any potential tech glitches, but still ... makes sense overall

BG 44. I hate to say it but I had a dreaded ‘glitch’ and when I got to where I selected add to boarding group, I kept getting an error message that said there is an issue we cannot connect.

This happened twice, I closed the app reopened, it happened one more time. In the meantime people all around me shouting out the boarding groups. 😲. I am here solo but thanks to everyone on this thread and all of the tips, I had my husband and a couple of my friends at our kids’ bus stop (😀) logged onto my account back home. My husband ended up getting me in my boarding group.
Good news is I have faith in The Chart so I know 44 is ‘safe’. Have already been on and off Smugglers run and I’m heading over to my SDD fastpass.
WiFi or Cell Data? This sounds similar to something that happens sometimes when I'm just trying to get FP+ while in the park on Guest WiFi.

Today was the day! Left our room at the Boardwalk at 6:02. At bag check at 6:17. Through in less than 5 minutes. Tapping in was longer, but we were in the park a minute or two before 6:40. Got to explain the process to a few women behind us who though they would just be getting in line for the ride!

Anyway, all to say that at crunch time I was ready and nervous, but thanks to everyone here, I scored boarding group 3!!!!!! I was shocked! I think I screamed.

And the ride was amazing!!!!!

Final confrontation was in B mode
I’m gonna whine here a little. That’s officially the first detail I’ve read on here about the ride itself. Obviously, we know with the name of the ride that we’re likely in for this,” Darn it. Almost made it to my planned DHS day (sunday) avoiding all details.

If true, it also makes me feel a lot better about potential later openings with spring break crowds.

I’d be very happy with an extra hour to get to the park and the security of a time period regular BG are given out instead of a number of them.

Higher number, maybe after 70.
Worth the effort is entirely up to you and your priorities
