A conversation with my friends who are going to WDW in March revealed that they plan on getting Florida Resident tickets (remind you they live in MASS) because of their brother -in-laws elderly father lives in Florida (about 2 hours from wdw). Can anyone please confirm or deny this claim that non-residents can walk into Disney World with Resident tickets? I always thought that the "Resident" had to be present during the use of the tickets? I feel like Disney would be extremely on their game to prevent Just anyone to get Resident tickets! Those tickets are extremely discounted.
Do they need proof of residency??
Does the resident have to be present at the entry to park or just at ticket window???

Your 'friends' are going to be surprised and disappointed.

I hope they have extra money put aside, because they are NOT getting in brother in law's father or not as a FL resident. EVERYONE over 18 has to show a valid FL ID. When my son and I went in June, I had to produce my ID before even gong into AK that first day. If they try to enter the park before verifying residency, the will NOT be able to...period. I would LOVE to be around one day when this happened and just watch the show. Last year someone else mentioned her friend trying to do it and reported to us when she got to the ticket window and tried to present whatever it was she thought would get her in as a FL resident, they just charged her the difference. The poster said her friend was NOT happy.

If you read the link i shared from Disney you can see that a Florida id is not required as long as they have any of the other documents listed.

Never gonna happen. Won’t be getting in without paying full.

It’s also different from universal

With Disney every ticket holder must be a resident. You can’t have 1 resident buy all the tickets. Doesn’t work like that. They will get caught and have to pull full price.

I understand the perfectly. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the OP. I was assuming those coming wanted to use the Father's discount because HE was the resident and none of the rest of them were. I thought in that case, they would have to pay extra.

Obviously, I'm just saying a Florida id is not required. But If they don't have any of the other documents they won't get the Florida resident rate

But they wouldn't have those if they live in MASS full time, would they?
Other than the elderly Male father in a nursing home, literally everyone has no ties to Florida at all. This is after multiple times and talks with them that this is wrong and they should just pl;an to buy the regular tickets and not count on this dream of Resident tickets. It seems to come from the Bro-in-law telling these first timers to WDW that he is an "expert" at Disney and he will handle it and he "knows" a bunch of people down there. Mind you he probably doesnt know anyone other than being a DVC member, the dude hasnt been in the parks in 8 years (never even heard of Flight of passage).

And I would highly assume if you don’t have a florida id, the document proving a florida address will obviously need to have your name on it.

Well just tell them to have fun attempting to make it work, but to make sure they have the funds to pay full price, as they will need it.

I hope I don’t get stuck in line behind these people cause it’s not going to work
I live about 70 minutes from the park and have had to show my Florida ID a few times at the park entrance

I haven't changed my driver's license to FL yet (car insurance and driver license 'spaid until spring from Michigan, so still have MI plates), but I produced my verizon bill and spectrum bill to show that my address and residence is indeed in FL. I brought my November tax statement also, with my FL address, but she wouldn't even look at it, saying "We don't accept tax bills". I assumed it was because everyone who owns property in FL but doesn't live there uses those to try to get the resident price, and it doesn't state that it's actually a house that is lived in, although my mailing address is on that as well.

I'm glad they let me get the price with what I had, though, and I'm so glad that they didn't require me to produce a driver's license yet. I'm afraid that if so many non-eligible people continue to try to fake a residency that they might even close that loophole. :(

I'm glad that we grandparents can take the grandkids who are too young for picture IDs with us as Florida residents, also!

The key is your name from the ID you do have matched the name on the documents you brought. That's fine
Some snow birds never get FL DL, they split time too much to have 2 different DL. But they have all the other things you'd need to get the FL rate discount
