Merry Christmas. I survived the outlaws. This AM, I spatchcocked and cooked the turkey and set up the garage with tables and chairs and coolers with drinks and Christmas lights. Then, they left, and I packed it all up, loaded the tables and chairs, and drove them back to the Church. Came home and took a 1 hour nap. After a day of eggnog/ bourbon and beer chasers, maybe the church wasn't the best destination, but I sweat out all the alcohol. That was a lot of work. Maybe I can enjoy the holiday tomorrow.

That sucks. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Won't you do that anyways? Since the outlaws are coming?

I meant pills and booze. I guess I was too high to think what I consider to be my normal.

Merry Christmas gentlemen. Still quite here but the earliest my kids were ever up for Christmas was around 7:00 and have had to drag them out of bed at 9:00 before. SWMBO has gone nuts on the food so if you are traveling through Appalachian KY and are hungry stop by.

Merry Christmas all. To end yesterday's workload, oldest dd and I sang at midnight Mass with 2 others. I didn't have much left, but it was a good way to go out.

Congrats! How drunk did you get?

Interesting. I've done that with chicken, but never a turkey. Oven cooked? Or BBQ? Or...?

Take it easy... you've earned it.

11 pound turkey done in 2 hours in the oven. Overnight salt water brine. Cooked with 2 sticks of butter, salt, pepper, and squeezed juice of a lemon over and cooked with same lemon. The spatchcock makes it cook so much more quickly, and it wasn't dry at all. I covered the breast 30 minutes before to make sure thighs got done.

I added more ice and left the beer in the garage/cooler overnight. There wasn't much left. It was a steady consumption, so not too drunk, and just stayed there all day.

My girls are still sleeping. DW is making casseroles for outlaw Christmas #2 today. I'd prefer to stop by your place, but that 5 hour trip probably isn't going to happen. Still, have a magical day.

Merry Christmas! Feliz Natal! Feliz Navidad! Joyeux Noël! Frohe Weinachten! Buon Natale! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas!

Been busy the last few days. Spent the weekend getting ready for Christmas, getting the tree up (I know, "A bit late, are we?") Yes, we were late this year, but then again, I had a bad year and organization, which I use to be good at, went out the window. For example: I'm fairly certain I've mentioned this before, but I'm a classically trained tenor. I've studied voice and opera for years. This past Sunday, I showed up to church, grabbed a program and went and sat down in my usual pew with my daughter. I opened the program and saw my name down to sing a solo. To say I was surprised was an understatement. This completely slipped my mind and I was so mad at myself. I got up and tried to sneak up to the music director (not something that's possible when you're nearly 6' tall and slinking up the side of the church in full view of everyone to the front where the music director sits), to apologize and announce to her that you can't sing because you forgot. Thankfully she's an understanding woman gave me a pass. Monday I was at work by 6 am to get a full day in and as much stuff shipped out as possible. At one point, we had three versions of FedEx at receiving: FedEx Express, Ground and Critical Custom. Not long after that, a semi with a flat bed showed up to get a bunch of very expensive equipment shipped. I was exhausted and ready for a beer by the end of the day. The week did get better when I went to see Star Wars yesterday. Man that was a good movie. That's all I'll say. Well, have a very Merry Christmas! Chat later.

Merry Christmas All.

Had a nice quiet day, morning at home, late afternoon at the in-laws and now home for A New Hope and some Makers Mark. Off to see Rise of Skywalker tomorrow.

Evening chaps. Just dropped in to say Merry Christmas to you and yours, hope your day was drama free and booze filled. Cheers for all the birthday messages. Canadians, have a great Boxing Day as well.

I've got my boxes ready.

Merry Christmas to one and all

it’s a pretty strange one for me since I started this new job and associated shift work last week. I was shadowing someone on day shift for a week and Monday I changed over to night shift to work solo.
It was pretty weird leaving home to work Christmas Eve, but I got home in the morning just when the family was getting up for presents. I stayed awake for that and managed to help cook breakfast. I lay down to sleep a few hours this afternoon and got up in time for supper at my parents, before coming back to work for the night. So despite being a bit tired, I didn’t really miss that much. I’m looking at the bright side.

I haven’t seen it yet. I may have to wait for a couple weeks until I have a week off. I’m looking forward to it.

Thanks, but...

I’ll be at work. Boxing Day will have to go on without me.
Me too 🙁
But as I mentioned above I’m trying to look at the bright side and make the best of this new situation.
My plan is to get to bed as soon as I get home in the morning. I told DD I would wake up early afternoon to watch a couple Christmas movies with her before going back to work in the night.
