The Official DIS Oscars LIVE PARTY Thread!!! TONITE: Red Carpet & QUEEN to open the Oscars!

My DD 17 just got back from seeing Vice. We have now seen all 8 best picture nominations! We are excited! Bohemian Rhapsody or A Star is Born are my favorites. Both of us were bored by Roma.

Imzadi, I do understand why people like Bohemian Rhapsody but I'm just not a fan. I rarely care much for biopics though.

As for seeing these movies, I'll say the same for A Star Is Born. See it! I got no sense of Lady Gaga being in any way annoying.

I really, really wanted to go see "A Star Is Born," when I first heard about it. Lady Gaga, I couldn't give a fig about. But, I really like Bradley Cooper. He's worked really hard on his career and I'm glad this movie is a success for him. But, as I watched more and more press & promos for the movie, the less & less I wanted to go see it. I felt like I was being TOLD how much I will like it, and have no choice in the matter. :confused3 Then Lady Gaga started acting weird about all the praise she was receiving as an actress. All effusively humble, in a way I felt was so precious & phony, (she's not that great of an actress, ) that I stopped wanting to see the movie at all. :crazy2: :headache:

On the other hand, I hadn't heard anything about "Bohemian Rhapsody," till I saw a promo for it during the Emmys party. It sounded interesting, but I promptly forgot about it, till it won Best Picture and Rami won Best Actor at the Golden Globes. Then I was really curious to see it.

.

Forgive me for shortening your quote...

Like you, I lost interest in watching A Star in Born as time went on because I felt like it was overplayed in the media. However, I finally watched it last night and I loved it!

I watched Bohemian Rhapsody on a flight earlier this month and LOVED it!!! I can’t describe how much.

I also watched Can You Ever Forgive Me which was good. Watched Roma this morning and I have to be honest that I don’t understand how it’s the front runner for Best Picture.

Maybe I'll see it when it comes On Demand. I still like Bradley. He's been so disappointed when he hasn't won for Best Actor or Best Director, he wasn't even able to hide it.

I thought Bohemian Rhapsody was good. I got bored midway through A Star is Born. It was just okay for me. They are the only movies I saw.

I do hope Rami wins and Shallow wins for best song.

My TV listings say red carpet doesn't start until 530 here MST, but I'm going to go check.

I love BoRhap also! Watched it twice. Surprised by a couple of hits they had, thought they were much older songs! They did such a variety. I have heard Green Book is supposed to win, the only one I haven't seen. Did not make it all the way through Roma though. I thought The Favourite was so good, but I'm a big fan of the two younger actresses.

I plan on being here! I’ve done a lot of traveling recently which helped me watch a bunch of the nominated movies in flight! It’ll be one of the first years I’ve seen more than the animated movies :rotfl2:

I kept meaning to see some of the other nominated movies, but always ended up instead at Bohemian Rhapsody. :lmao:

Yep, it is all the press that turned me off on it. :crazy2: I'll try to give it another try.

I think the women in The Favorite cancel each other out.

Glenn Close was great in The Wife. I did see that movie.

I literally just popped some popcorn popcorn::. I am way behind this year, and have only seen Bohemian Rhapsody. Loved it!

I always want to feed Giuliana some lasagna.

I'm watching Queen...then I'm watching something else.:) The best stuff will be on-line before tomorrow morning. Y'all have fun though:)
:thumbsup2 You could join me watching the Canadian Women's National Curling Championship (called the Scott Tournament of Hearts). The final starts at 3:00 MST and we could do a live thread if you're up for it. :goodvibes How about you @RedAngie - are you in?

Actually, I've also seen 4 out of the 5 animated nominees! Isle of Dogs was incredibly unique.

I love Bradley and Viggo. But I love Bradley a little bit more!
