Hurricane Irma?

this was already clarified a couple of pages ago.
At the moment the current forecast shows winds at around 80MPH to 120MPH for Central Florida during the point where the eye will be closest to Orlando

Keep in mind that wind speed is the same range as an EF1 tornado.

I just got off the phone with Disney Reservation Center. Only waited about 10 minutes to talk to a CM. She was kind, positive attitude, and willing to help. She was able to move our dates from 9/10-9/14 to 9/12-9/16. Same room rate at AKL, and we were able to keep our Free Dining! She transferred me to Dining, and they moved all our reservations around with no problem. Also rescheduled our Starlight Safari with another lovely CM at AKL who had actually left me a voicemail with her direct number. Done with everything in just 45 minutes. (Although the CM said the Guest Relations line had a 5+ hour hold time.) They also assured me that if things weren't back to normal by 9/12 that I could call back to cancel/reschedule again. We are lucky to have flexibility with our dates and that we are driving from Atlanta, so don't have to deal with flights. I just couldn't believe it....I was expecting the worst and ended up with a really good outcome. So very thankful. Especially since this is a birthday surprise for my husband and our first kid-free vacation in years!

5:00. Finally confirmed. Thank you!!

(Of course why they couldn't have just left this up on their site last night and saved us a lot of hassle!)

Ok with the new Euro model I'm no longer convinced we will be safe at Disney, so we doubled down and were finally able to get a Southwest flight out at 7:20 AM Saturday. Can anyone foresee any complication that would cause that flight not to leave at all? Backlog of people waiting, storm arriving early, anything like that? I'm trying my hardest to feel reassured but there has to be a reason those seats were available and literally every other flight we found on every other airline between now and Saturday was like thousands of dollars with three or four layovers. This has one layover in Dallas, TX. Would getting out of Texas be a problem with the flooding in Houston?

ETA from Orlando to St. Louis.

All of the above that you listed are possible. Hurricane Ike hit Houston in 2008; airport was scheduled to close at 3 PM on our September departure day; our flight was at 1 PM. We were very uncomfortable cutting it that close and managed to get a flight into Tampa at 6 AM. Good thing we did...airport closed at noon. There should be no problems with the Dallas layover. I'm from Texas (Houston area) and the Houston area airports are up and functioning. Dallas airport was never effected. Good luck...hope it all works out for you. Thoughts and prayers are with you and all the fellow DW guests. Having just gone through Hurricane Harvey I say a HUGE thank you for leaving early. This hurricane is stronger than Harvey and the area to the south of us was devastated; Houston flooding was unbelievable....after almost 2 weeks homes are still flooded and cars still underwater. We're still experiencing gas shortage and milk and eggs are still hard to stock at the grocery stores. Any visitors that can leave the area should; Florida resources will be stretched TO THE LIMIT and beyond. I wouldn't be here if I didn't dearly love Disney World and fully understand how hard it is to leave or cancel but think about the castmembers (who would much rather be with their families) and the Florida residents. Ease their burden just a little. They'll need all the help, love and care any of us can send their way. Please understand how devastating hurricanes can be both physically and mentally. Thank you again for making the hard decision to leave. :lovestruc :tink:

Okay, the new model has me a little worried. Do these storm tracks usually wobble back and forth like this? I'm reading so many mixed opinions on this...

Yes they do; no way to accurately predict when/where landfall will be. Understand also, this storm is SO huge...it will cover the ENTIRE State of Florida. Just because it makes landfall in one spot does NOT mean all areas of the state will not receive some form of tropical storm force winds/rain and tornados. :tink:
