Hurricane Irma?

Well, I finally called it. I was driving home from the super market with a bunch of hurricane snacks and supplies to pack and I couldn't shake this feeling of how ridiculous I was being. Would it really be a vacation? I don't want my DD's first time to be under these conditions. I'm in the middle of canceling our trip. So far ive got the resort and plane tickets done. Working on mnsshp now. Its absolutely heartbreaking to unwind all of the work I did to plan this trip.

Be safe everyone. Some things are just more important in life.

It feels so good to have a decision behind you. Bottom line it's sad but you won't regret the decision. You could definitely get there and be like this was a big mistake. Start planning your trip again. Pick dates and just start that countdown right back over. Would love to see a thread on this. Everyone who cancelled trying to rework out trips, discounts, etc.

I am at 5 hours and 28 mins

I am currently at 5 hours 37 minutes for guest services. I only have 75 nationwide rollover minutes left on my cell phone plan! I hope they pick up with in the next 60 minutes or so!!!!

It's big and scary ...... but remember any given hour, as it has for days, you will find multiple respected modules that do not agree. Even a slight differentiation can make a major difference of impact. At this point projections don't help at all. You are either in a place you need to evacuate (for what ifs) or you're not.

Don't get caught up in the posts that are sensationalizing and gavel slamming. Watch the reliable sources and if you are local try to follow what local instructions are as they have an overview of what is happening across the state. Regardless of opinions of him, the Governor has done a great job at news conferences and in staying very even and cool - and giving straight up honest points to those that need it. Hopefully they listen.

Can anyone who has stayed at Disney during a hurricane please advise if their resort lost power or if it stayed on through the storm?

We didn't lose power last year during Matthew.

OMG. I'm at 3 and a half and every time it loops back to It's A Small World I go a little bit crazier.

Me too! BUT THAT AMERICA SONG!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!!!! and what is up with that song that starts out with a woman saying someone's name or something? Every times she's like "oh John or Jack" or whoever it is I think it is finally a CM....then the music starts!!!!

Do you think they will allow drivers to drive down on Friday? Or will they close the roads south? We are still trying to decide what to do..... watching and waiting patiently..

**If** there is a mandatory evacuation, they can opt to turn BOTH sides of the highway (northbound and southbound) to go north. FL only has I75 and I95 so the have to do something to help move people. Note that GA has already issued a mandatory evacuation for Savannah and coastal areas.

P.S. - I see this was already reported by PP, but there are so many posts, I'm going to leave it!

You cant really focus on a single model run. You have to focus on the body of work. It is not horribly uncommon for a model run to initialize at an incorrect position, say north of where the storm actually is which could throw the whole track off by hundreds of miles. There is good info in the models, but I would focus on the NHC. I like reading the discussions. They simplify things a lot of times.

I canceled my trip this morning, a mere inconvenience compared to what so many have to deal with right now. I will be canceling the following ADR's starting at 4:45 and thought someone here might be able to get one. sigh Yes, we really love Ohana. I also didn't realize until recently that I didn't cancel one of my previous reservations.

Just talked to JetBlue. My 3:40 flight outta here is still on. Told me to check the status before going to the airport of course, but it seems like JetBlue will be flying out of MCO probably until it closes (or if it gets really bad of course).

It also makes me think more and more that the 5:00 closing is real.

I said it yesterday, but I will say it again - Gov Scott has done a great job with what is a scary, unpredictable situation.
