Hurricane Irma?

Maybe I'm not caught up with the latest detail, but the Chicago Tribune is still saying "Operations will cease at Orlando International Airport at 2 p.m. on Saturday"

This isn't true. There's some info out there that American Airlines might stop at 2 but I don't know if even that is confirmed.

I have asked for a cancellation number the three times I called yesterday and the one time I called today and was told Disney does not issue a cancellation number. I am wondering if it is just who you talk with. I am worried sick because I called Pop to see if our reservation was cancelled and was told no and that tomorrow if it was still there we would be charged a no show.
Someone on the Disney reservation line told you that? Because in case you weren't sure, you can't call Pop, you can only call Disney central reservations. If you've cancelled, you've cancelled. I wouldn't stress over that myself. Disney's site is notorious at being slow, even in the best of circumstances. One thing to try, clear your cookies. Also, check the app. Sign off/close app, open and sign back on. See if either of those cause it to update. I'm certain your cancelled and shame on the awful person who told you that on the phone. I wish there was a way to report these reps that are just so rude and hateful.

Chicago Tribune is still incorrect. Been reported many times. Believe it or not, their being you know, in Chicago and all, they aren't too on top of things.
Why they are not correcting their incorrect article is beyond me. MCO retracted their error hours ago. Chicago Tribune should have done the same within minutes.

Has anyone been on hold so long the music stops?? After about 1 hour 25 minutes it stopped, no answer, but it still says the call is active. Found I hold on or call back?

I would hold, I've had it stop before and someone has always picked up. I would hold because you are at least in queue to be answered and if you hang up you start all over again.

Orlando International has not issued any operational updates since 8:30am this morning when they stated they do have not yet made an official decision regarding when/if to cease operations.

The last update is still the pinned tweet on their official twitter account.

Anytime I've cancelled anything at Disney (resort, ADR, etc) I've gotten a cancellation number.

Waited on the phone for a long time to reach Frontier. Our flight going out of MCO on Saturday at 5:20pm is still scheduled to depart. Tried to move to an earlier flight tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday and they said every flight is completely booked. Hoping things stay the same and we are able to depart Saturday as planned. If not, we will be paying for extra nights and missing work back at home. Ugh!

Really? And I've never gotten one. Cancelled several resort stays recently too. I really did not know they issued them. Mine are always room only. Maybe that's the difference?

For those of you waiting on the phone to cancel - I just cancelled online via the chat window. They responded within 2 minutes, and it took about 5 minutes total to cancel everything. They say they will send an email confirmation. All I needed was my name/address/confirmation number.

I do not have a cancellation number. Hope they really cancelled everything!

Watching the weather channel. The euro model just came in from this morning and it moved slightly west with the storm going up the spine of the state. US model still has it to the east. Praying it's more east.

It seems American Airlines cancels more flights and is stopping flights earlier.

Good idea. At least you can take a screen shot too

thank you SO much for the info.. we changed our arrivalf rom tues to wed. my son is telling us we are selfish because we will be taking resources from locals who will need help and putting first responders and rescuers at risk, just so we can see a mouse. (he obviously is not a disney person) he' smaking me feel guilty and doubting on choices to not totallycancel.. I thought we did the prudent thing by lopping a day off the beg. of the trip.

I haven't seen anyone other than you talking about storm surge issues in Orlando. The concerns are that if Irma grazes either coast or comes straight up the peninsula (and no, I'm not saying any of those scenarios will definitely happen, I'm being conceptual) that Orlando could get subjected to hurricane force winds (including potentially strong ones, depending how close the eyewall got). Or put another way, people should not be telling others that Orlando (or for that matter, any part of Florida) has automatic hurricane immunity.

That sort of thing can lead to exactly the sort of deadly complacency the Governor and state authorities are presently working hard to eradicate.

I'm here at WDW right now. We are ending our trip early and flying home Saturday morning to hopefully avoid the impact of Irma. BUT I spent this morning at Magic Kingdom (it was VERY quiet) trying to soak up whatever park time I could, and I ended up asking some Princesses for advice about the coming storm. Here are their answers:

FWIW -- I am taking this hurricane VERY seriously, as we all should! But since everyone is talking about it here, I thought I'd try to put a little Pixie Dust on it during my meet and greets this morning. Hope it gives you a grin :)

For those who are worrying that their package reservations still appear active even though they have called to cancel -

I was told by a phone CM that Guest Services would get a form to do the cancellation, so it might appear active and stay in my MyDisneyExperience account until they can do it. I am sure Guest Services is very busy right now.

So if you call back and a CM tells you your reservation is still active, suggest they read the internal notes and see if a form was sent to Guest Services already. (Assuming the very busy CM noted it in the first place in addition to sending the form.)
