Hurricane Irma?

@spartankid34 i suggest you read my previous post. I would strongly suggest not to rely on thinking Disney is going g to accommodate you.

After our experience with Matthew I will avoid being in Disney if there is thread as much as I can.

THIS...exactly this, thank you for this helpful information! This is an example the disney chat cast member told me as well. Would just be nice to have accurate information given when many of us are just worried and stressed.

Thats what I think as well. You may not have a private room, but they're not going to throw you and your luggage in the street either.

Can't find your previous post, I'm sure it's well hidden a few pages back. I totally understand that being in FL during a hurricane is risky, but I also have faith in the Disney Company that I wouldn't be left with my luggage on the curb, left to find my own accommodations. I am sure they'd do everything they could to try and help. Again, not trying to argue, was just looking for some information from those who might know.

We land Friday 3pm ish. If we need to evacuate north, perhaps to Georgia or Alabama, where would be a good place or area to go? Do those states sell canabis? Just to help the nerves like

I think this might help some people. We were there last year during Matthew. The first thing I will say is that every resort seem to be handling the situation by themselves and there no standard that fit all.

We were at the BWV a few days before Matthew hit and they send voice messages and kept us updated. We then moved to BLT and we never received any information once we arrived there. The manager at BLT didn't even bother to see if there was something available for us to stay since our plans had to change because of the curfew in place. We were told there is no rooms for us to stay and was not offer any alternatives (before I get attacked no we weren't expecting for free accommodations ). We then went ahead and called our universal hotel and see if they could accommodate us early and they said absolutely and even gave us the same discounted rate. So at the end we end up leaving Disney early because they weren't willing to accommodate us. While we went to the front desk to let them know of our early departure a lady in line was leaving early as well and we exchanged stories and she also had the same not so helpful front desk manager. She even offer us her room if we wanted to stayed.

With that being said everyone experience is different and I do believe if we had to we would have found a new manager maybe contact someone higher up we would have been accommodated if not by Disney by very nice guest that we were all willing to help each other. My point is that if you can avoid being there in a situation that could be hit or miss specially with it comes to your family safety avoid it. Re-schedule if you can and don't go in expecting to be accommodated because of what you read on this board.

One more thing don't wait until last minute fill your car with gas.
Ellie's post, for those that missed it.

I don't think there's any need to worry about Orlando evacuating. At least right now.

Post in page 106. As someone that was there during Matthew I will never again assume or rely on information of a few people in this boards.

I would say this is it going to be worth it for you that worst case scenario happenes and Disney can't accommodate you and you are left on your own or you are stuck in cots in a convention room. If you say yes then go ahead go.

Georgia is looking at possibly evacuating along the coast, so I'd keep going further north.

If you have to rely on smoking weed to get you through dealing with a natural disaster while on vacation, that's a good sign that you shouldn't be going in the first place.

I haven't even caught up on thread yet so I don't really know all the decisions people are trying to make. But just know I lived that hurricane vicariously. My dh went down there for work convention. He was supposed to be staying in RV at the campgrounds. Matthew was off coast. By time he got down there (8 hour drive) it was bee lining for Orlando. Disney wouldn't let them go in campground. I won't go into all details because no one should have any expectations but disney was amazing above and beyond pixie dust. The work convention at CSR was able to do 2 out of 3 days. I probably obsessed more then dh did but I spent 3 days on these boards, different sites, periscope, trying to find out where he could get this that food water etc. have water and food in your room. Can't stress that enough. Stay alert to what is going on. Disney did not communicate closing of things until they were happening. You won't get much warning. Just an announcement, get out of the park.

I just wanted to share what I know but not saying anyone should go or stay. I don't even travel there in hurricane season.

Colorado is a great place to go (will be safe from the storm and is just a beautiful state) and sells canabis.

I'm coming from NW Florida ..Destin, so the roads from here to 75 will be fine, after that going south should be light since everybody that evacuates will either have left or be staying somewhere else other than south Fl..at least for a day or 2.
95 will will be a nightmare anytime, unless you like bumper to bumper traffic at 80 mph +:hyper:
Im not doing 95. I live in Northern SC, so a similar route as you once I hit FL.

A question about "confined to your room" statement i have seen. We moved our arrival up to Saturday morning. The only place i was able to get was Bay Lake Tower. Would we be allowed to cross over to Contemporary, or have to stay in BLT?

I don't know what the cross over consists of i.e. Open air or enclosed in glass But either way Disney doesn't want you by a window or out in the elements so you would be confined to that building. Now if there was a public underground connection you would be able to use that but I don't know that one exists

We are due to fly from New Zealand tomorrow. As Air New Zealand has no travel alert in place we can not change our flights and will lose US$4000.00. We are scheduled to land in Orlando on Friday 09/08 at 7.15pm and staying at Royal Pacific at Universal for the first 4 nights and then transferring to POP on the 12th - 22nd. I really don't know what to do and I am stressed to the max.
