2017 DISNEYLAND RESORT HALLOWEEN TIME / MICKEY'S HALLOWEEN PARTY THREAD!

BTMR refurb from 10/2-10/19. This makes me sad.
It was closed too during most of our recent trip. We were there 9/14 to the 18th and it was only open on the 18th. I don't know if it had been closed prior to the 14th. When we went on it on the 18th there was a chemical smell in the queue, maybe some type of adhesive.

Is a head character like a costume face? Will the characters be roughly the same at all the parties? There are two I think before we go so will reports of those be about the same as ours?
I think of a "head" character as one that is wearing a full face mask and usually cannot talk to guests (e.g., Pluto) whereas a "face" character is one that doesn't have their face covered and can talk with guests (e.g., the Princesses). As far as I've noticed, yes the characters are generally the same at all of the parties (there is always the chance that something will change because one of the characters may not be feeling well that night, but in general, the characters will be the same).

Hi! We have purchased tickets for MHP on Oct 31. This is all new to us, I've tried to go through the previous posts, there are a lot! I'm not sure if this has been asked, I apologize if it has. Do we have to have a general park ticket also to attend? Can we go to both parks with the Halloween Party ticket? Or do we need a hopper general admin ticket? We will be in Anaheim Oct 31-Nov 4 and have purchased the 2 day tickets on top of the MHP tickets. I have a 4 and 2 year old, so I'm trying to decide what would be the best days to go and how to see and get the most of our time. Thanks!!

You only need the MHP ticket to attend MHP. The party ticket grants you entrance into both DL and DCA at 3:00 pm (the party starts at 6:00 pm). My MHP tickets didn't say they were park hoppers anywhere on them, but the announcements and official information all say that they are park hoppers, so that's what I'm going with :goodvibes. The overlap period (when both the daily guests and the MHP guests are in the park) has historically been very busy, but we don't yet know how things will be this year because it's the first year when the MHP tickets grants guests access to DCA. I'm guessing it means a little less crowds, but still a noticeable increase in crowds during the overlap period (probably in both parks).

It's worth noting that things like fireworks and F! are likely only going to be presented on weekends (Fri-Sun) that week, so if seeing either of those is important, you'll probably want to go on Friday. Otherwise, you'll probably have lower crowds on a weekday (Wed or Thu).

I kept going back and forth between going to MHP this year and I quickly panicked when I saw my desired date sold out online (9/29), so I just called and purchased them over the phone! I feel a little guilty about spending the money but I think I would've regretted it if we didn't go.

You will not be sorry. Actually you will like it so much you will want to go again. I'm going to my 4th party this year and even though I didn't like the price hike I just have to go. You will have a blast.

You're going to love it!!

We've been going every year since 2011 and back then, the price was $64/pp and included parking. It was such a great value for 8 hours in the park!

Paying $120/pp  (+ parking) this year gave me pause, but not enough to make me truly consider NOT going. Even my husband, who's the budget conscious one, didn't blink an eye . It's a family tradition at this point. We look fwd to it all year long and are excited about the opportunity to check out DCA before the party starts this year.

It'll be our 3rd year actually. We do love it. We had decided this year to go at Christmas time so we were going to skip Halloween but with all the new stuff happening and then with the possibility that it may not be at Disneyland next year...I just had to bite the bullet and do it!

Well then I'm preaching to the choir because you know all about how wonderful the event is :goodvibes.

and then with the possibility that it may not be at Disneyland next year
:scared: I keep hearing this rumor too, and I'm hoping and praying it turns out to be just that...a rumor . DCA doesn't have near as much appeal to me as Disneyland.

What worries me the most is that they won't be able to do the fireworks show anymore. DCA doesn't have a place for fireworks because it is too close to the property line. I would be also worried about crowds. There is less to do in DCA, so more people will be doing whatever they can, and the lines could get really bad.

It would be cool if they did a stage show though, like the Hocus Pocus at WDW. Maybe temporarily convert Hyperion into a Halloween show?

I completely understand your thought process. I was telling all of my friends to get their tickets but they are not as Disney crazy as I am. I'm sure when it moves to DCA it will be just as fun but all I know is Halloween time at DL so, I will miss it :(

I'm thinking if they move it to DCA, Halloween Screams will just be a nightly (or weekend) show at DL for everyone and that they'd do at least a Halloween WOC show at DCA. But who knows!

Halloween Screams is a big part of MHP, so they'd need something comparable over in DCA. A Halloween version of WoC makes the most sense, and it doesn't seem like switching between versions of WoC is all that time consuming or difficult. Hopefully other elements of MHP (like the Cadaver Dans) would also make the trip across the esplanade!

I am doing a surprise trip for my 7 year old daughter. I got us tickets for the Friday night Sept 22. I have never been to the party before. I went to the one in WDW last year for the first time.

Is there a lot of chances to meet characters that are not usually out?

Yes there are lots of characters. Lines can get long, so be prepared to wait.

CheshireCat2626 :welcome: I see this is your first post.

In addition to the characters that are usually not available to meet guests, some of the "regular" characters appear in different outfits. As Geemo said, there are usually pretty substantial lines for the party specific characters (e.g., villains), so be prepared for that (in that way, it's similar to MK's MNSSHP, where the lines for the rare characters can be quite lengthy).
