Caring for Giants

Doesn't it bother anyone that we have already paid a lot for the park, including the safari ride to see the animals elephants included. Why do we have to pay more to see the elephants more closely??? I am just getting tired of the upcharges for things we have already paid for. I know it's a closer look, but really??? Just a thought........

No one is taking away your chance to see the elephants for free. Not sure why it matters to you at all if someone wants to pay more for a more up close experience

You can still do the base attraction, nothing has changed and it did not diminish with this offering. For me, I'm an AP and I like the idea of a tour to supplement the safari attraction I've been on many times. We are also doing the Royal Tea tour for Spring Flower & Garden and did the Behind the Seeds Tour last year.

It's not just about getting a closer look but learning about how they are taken care of.

Why are you being confrontational, angietn? "not sure why it matters to you?" I was just expressing an opinion, and value the other quoted responses. So, I;m not sure why it matters to you???? must be a sore subject? I don't care if anyone does it, but just expressing my opinion, that's all. have a magical day:)

:wave2: Dropping in to remind everyone to please follow the DIS Guidelines when posting. Everyone is entitled to share their opinion regarding this new, informative tour.

So, I'll share my opinion:
Disney and Feld Entertainment are business partners. Ringling Bros.' Circus without elephants led to the upcoming closure of the circus.

Knowing that guests no longer had another outlet for viewing animals in a closer type of encounter as in the circus and because Ringling Bros. Center for Elephant Conservation (http://www.ringlingelephantcenter.com/) is not open to the public, Disney obviously decided there was a need for this new tour.

It's an educational tour that doesn't exploit the animals and gives guests, who appreciate elephants, a somewhat closer experience. I've watched a Fb live feed of a portion of the tour and it's very informative. And, guests receive a lanyard. :)

I wasn't even going to look about the wheelchair because I didn't want to be disappointed for my son, he loves elephants so thanks for posting :flower:

Same here! I thought no way is this for me but I had a look anyway ( ever hoping! ) well imagine my pure delight! It does say to phone and say you require a wheelchair space. We are going to do that so make sure you secure that premium spot in his royal throne for your DS!

@Paula Sedley-Burke and @LvsTnk ~ the walking trail looks very smooth and level so you won't have a problem moving along with the group.

The chain-link fencing looks to be about chest-high (4 feet high?) and has a wooden railing along the top. On the enclosure side of the fencing, there's vegetation/bushes but there are areas where your views wouldn't be obstructed. I'm sure the guide will ensure prime viewing spots for your group. :)

That is great news thank you so much! You are kind to post. I am so excited for this tour! Not very often I can do them!

Thank you for that additional information I couldn't get the link to work for me yesterday so I'm going to call today. His face lit up when I told him about it yesterday.
