Mod or value w/shortest ride to MK

Which value or moderate has the shortest bus ride to MK and Epcot? DH is burnt out on the buses, but monorail resorts are so expensive and we don't want to bother with a rental car. We usually go with a value, but I'd do a mod for a shorter ride. Basically, this would be a quick trip to get my Disney fix bc I found these nice, cheap round trip flights to MCO for Dec that would allow us a long weekend (Thurs to Sun.... DH is teacher so that's best we can do on non-school vaca weeks anyway). So, I'm thinking maybe if I chose the resort with the shortest ride, that he might be more open to it. He finds the buses exhausting and a time suck on the short trips. We were just there in Dec for a long weekend...on a short trip MK and EP would be our focus. Thx in advance.

I'd probably save the money abd do Pop...it's very close to CBR and while statistically CBR may be shorter in distance, there are also multiple bus stops, which makes the bus ride seem longer. If you're set on a mod, then I'd do POFQ - close-ish to MK and only 1 stop.

I really don't consider any of the mod and value resorts to be "close" to the MK.

Fort Wilderness is probably the closest, with Coronado Springs and Port Orleans probably the next next closest. CBR is on the wrong side of Epcot to be considered "close."

But it all depends on the buses and catching the traffic lights. I don't think any one or the other will make your commute to the Magic Kingdom shorter.

I don't think any of them are significantly closer than another to MK. CBR is pretty close to both Epcot and HS. We've stayed there twice and the bus ride to both is pretty short. It's actually close enough to Epcot to both see and hear the fireworks w/the music at night.

I believe CSR is the shortest ride.

You may also want to check rates for Swan/Dolphin. Sometimes the rates can be mod-like and I think there is a teacher discount (or Costco if you have a membership).

Thanks for the input. I was thinking it probably doesn't make much difference, but thought I'd ask. Uber and cab is kind of a pain too bc there are 6 of us including 2 kids needing booster seats. I wish we lived closer to Disneyland. It is so much easier to navigate and park hop....but we live on the east coast so the added travel time to fly there is hard for short trips even though once you're there it is easier to get around. We are talking about just doing a longer trip to Disneyland on school vacation in future, but I like the little disney fix here and there, lol. I'll look at the Swan and dolphin. Also, if a monorail hotel came out with a good discount I'd consider it, but that probably wouldn't be for months.

I found the ride from the Port Orleans resorts to be VERY quick. The buses take the route past Golden Oak, which is quite a short cut. I found it to be a much shorter bus ride than when I've stayed at Pop or the All Stars

I was staying at POFQ, but I believe we drove by the POR entrance to get to POFQ.

what about a cabin at Fort Wilderness. granted it is either a bus to dock then boat to MK you would still need a bus to EPCOT. just an idea that would sleep 6

@monarchsfan16 was it PoR or porfq or does it even matter? That is good to hear!
Only difference is POFQ has 1 bus stop and POR has 4. We find POFQ close to MK, Epcot and DHS. A good site for info on both resorts and the transportation is www.portorleans.org. If you want checkout Disney Springs they both have boats which make a great change from buses.

Cute map, but poor representation :). I can't find a good map with the road names, but Port Orleans French Quarter is a little closer than Riverside. Buses should take a right out of driveways, then a left at the end of the street onto the road Fort Wilderness is on, and get to the MK parking lot without going through the gates. Ten minutes, maybe?

Pop, AoA, and CBR are close in that theyre centrally located.

CSR is the closest moderate. It's 10 minutes to MK once the bus leaves the resort, straight up World Drive. CBR and the PO resorts are both pretty far removed from World Drive in comparison, especially the PO resorts. FW is a moderate in theory only, not really in practice. (Apples and oranges comparison.)

pofq would be the least amount of time on the bus as all the other mods have more than 1 bus stop. You can spend 10-20 minutes just going aroudn the resort before you even start the 10 minute ride to MK at the other mods.. it's also a tiny resort so it's fast to the room as soon as you get off the bus. there is a boat to springs to change it up if you need that.

also consider renting dvc points and just staying at a monorail resot. Generally it comes out close to what a moderate costs.

Outside of rope drop and park closing, POFQ shares buses with POR, which adds four additional stops between POFQ and MK. CSR never shares and has the fastest loop.
