Highway in the Sky Dine Around with Wishes viewing area

Just read through the whole thread, and I saw mention of food allergies, but what about preference? I don't eat beef or pork (not an allergy, but it does make me sick), it looks like a good chunk of the menu is off limits. Has anyone had experience or seen another attendee get vegetarian options? I know I'm asking too much, but I wish they'd offer maybe 2 or 3 options on the courses. Same with drinks, maybe a choice between beer or wine for non-wine drinkers.

She asked me about allergies when she called during the afternoon. I don't think they take just preferences into account. Vegetarian would be accomodated. I think maybe too they could offer (for the main course) a choice of two or three, in advance (like a wedding)...maybe make it a little nicer.

I just sent Disney an email about this because it's really not acceptable to have paid for a five course meal and get four. If they want to throw some cheese and bread in a buffet basket , that's fine. But if I want that I'll go to the Golden Corral. They took what was an awesome event and cut a whole course out of it, didn't advertise it, and are still charging the same price. That is basically fraud. If we can get into a California Grill or some other restaurant, we'll probably cancel. If I'm going to spend $300 on a meal, I want to get my monies worth.

They did take away a $15 served cheese course (if you compare the price of GF set teas) and "dumbed down" the champagne...in theory, that would be another $14/glass served at GF tea...although since they still give the champagne in some form, it's probably more a $5 loss...So, you lose $20/value on that course loss if you assume that the "now served" cheese replacing desserts from the dessert mini-party keeps that as a dessert mini-party...

But as everyone said, Disney just pocketed that $20/person and never offered a price reduction...

I sent an email as well yesterday asking for justification of the change. I also asked that since it is now a 4 course meal will the price be reduced. I'll let you know when I hear...

My email was pretty strongly worded and very matter of fact. This is typical Disney - take a great thing and try and make more of a profit off it by cutting a section and trying to hide it. I'm glad I found out they cut a course - had I been there and found out I would have been quite upset. I feel bad for the people that read the original reviews and basically got the shaft.

My biggest issue is they literally took away a course - but are still selling it as five courses. I'm happy to take my $316 somewhere else for the evening. My wife and I can have a really nice meal at Narcoossee's or Artist Point (which for Valentine's Day is having a five course meal) for half the price.

But they still offer cheese and they still offer Champagne. So where is the loss? How do you come up with $5 loss for a glass of Champagne since it's still served, just not in the tea room. Do you know the difference in the value of the cheese from the first night and the value of the cheese at the dessert party?
Did they remove a course, Yes, without a doubt. That I would like an explanation for. I'm not seeing the dollar value in that though, since they combined it with the desserts. What am I missing? Maybe I need to be more outraged than I am. Now it's more of an, at least be honest at what you did but my value is still there

What email address did you send it to? I wanted to send a question myself

They removed desserts from the dessert course - so they took 2 courses, decreased both, and combined them...I could have easily as priced it as loss of 3-4 desserts (aka loss of mini dessert party value) to a single plated dessert cost (but then it's even more a loss of value)...and CS champagne vs TS champagne is a loss of value, even if you assume you weren't ever supposed to get extra glasses. How many folks just said they'd rather have a $20 TS burger vs a $13 CS one?

If you don't see the difference in value in a plated cheese course with champagne seated in the GF and cheese blocks and bread with plastic champagne glasses standing around on a roof, I can't help...

If you look at the early pictures each person was given a platter of a variety of cheeses and a flute of champagne. If they were allergic they got a nice plate of dried meats, etc. The person who went the other night said the cheese served with dessert were little chunks of cheddar.

They went from serving four distinct signature restaurant quality cheeseboard cheeses to two buffet pans of cheddar cubes with a basket of bread - that's a loss of value. Also, don't advertise a five course meal and then deliver four.

No I don't but to be straight, the champagne is not served on the roof at CR, it's still at GF (per the updated description on MDE)
And so far we are taking 1 review about 2 vs 4 desserts as gospel. I'd rather have additional confirmation. Wouldn't be the first time someone missed something right there. Not to mention their review of the cheeses may not be the same for everyone. I do though, see a value in the way they changed the cheese and that is what I'd like to get clarification on. Maybe the 1 PP got a bad cube and the rest of the cheeses are still good, even if they aren't plated for 2. I'd like more than 1 review before I get irate.

:flower:Note: I said I think in my original post, or one thereafter, that the cheeses were Tillamook, Brie and the cheddar. I said the cheddar was chunks. So there are 3 cheeses, one was served as pieces, while the other two were little slices.

My review was my two cents only and to describe my experience. Not meant to be inflamatory or defamatory. Only informatory and explanatory. I am also surprised that there haven't been any/more reviews of the dinner on this thread.

Thank you so much, aviva5675 - I agree, it's be really surprising that there haven't been more reviews. I guess that's due to the very small number of people that get to experience this event: 25 per day, and until recently only 2 or 3 nights a week.

FWIW, I'll be going on January 27, and I plan on live-blogging on Instagram. I'll make sure to post my info on here the day before!

So, I received a call from Guest Relations this morning. The lady informed me that the change was made due to the fact that the enchanted tea room is no longer available to be used for this event. She didn't say why it wasn't going to be used anymore. but that they were taking feedback and considering what changes to be made. She did offer a very nice comp to make up for the change, so that was nice.

Did you ask or did she mention, about a change in desserts offered?
