Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

My friend just checked-in to a 1 night stay in a standard view room at Yacht Club. She was offered multiple rooms and told to "take this one" upon checking in. She is in a completed refurb:

She also said she can hear work above her on the third floor and sees painters going in and out of the rooms on the second floor.

She also said that Fittings & Fairings Clothes & Notions is currently half its size and under construction.

:welcome: to the thread and what a debut!!!

Thank you so much for sharing the pictures and the info about Fittings & Fairings.

:thumbsup2

Thanks for the pics. They should really add a mug refill station to the gift shop there. There's surely a way to do it and keep the motif of the place.

I totally agree that a refill station at the Yacht Club is overdue. I'm hoping either as part of Fittings & Fairings or the upcoming (don't know when) reimagining of the Ale & Compass lounge.

Hello again experts!!

I am not really a breakfast person, but I absolutely need a couple of cups of coffee and toast. Can anyone tell me at both Yacht club and Beach club where I can get that in the morning.

Thanks again!!:worship:

Wanted to add that during our recent stay, they Marketplace didn't open until 7:00, but Ale and Compass opened at 6:00. So, if coffee is desired before 7:00, hit up Ale and Compass. Anyone else wish the Marketplace opened earlier? I did find the Ale and Compass coffee better, which makes it worth the walk from BC.

Thank you so much!

Thanks sounds delicious!

Exactly what I am looking for!

Thanks again to everyone for all the help.

I am kind of disappointed that we couldn't get the Yacht Club, it seems like the restaurants and lounges are what we were looking for, but we grabbed the Beach Club for our last minute quick trip. We're going just my DH and I, its the first time since our honeymoon 26 years ago. I don't feel guilt since we're returning the end of May with the kids...lol!!

So here's my question....Since I think we'll be spending most our time at the Yacht Club whats the quickest way from the Beach Club?

Thanks again in advance for the help...you guys are great!!
You can walk from the Beach Club just past Cape Mays, following a path outside, or hallway (most of the way, you exit for a short stretch) to the YC. Super easy, it is the same building. My personal favorite, though, would be to exit the lobby from either resort, and walk to the lakeside walkway. You go around SAB I. This case, and the lights from the Boardwalk (either at dawn or after dusk) are gorgeous. Midday I. Heat or rain, though, stick to the edge of the building! We prefer YC, but just returned from a BC stay, and it is still wonderful and easy to reach the YC for anything you need.

Please Disney!! Add in a little magic to the decor. I have to believe a nice throw pillow is on the way? I think it makes a big difference in the room decor at CR.

Well, I can now say we will be at Beach Club, trying club level, THIS YEAR!!!!!! Can't wait! Our kids are very strong swimmers compared to last time we went to Beach Club, so I can't wait to try out the pool with more relaxation! lol

So we got a night flight the day before we arrive for 1/3 the price, even taking into consideration the hotel we have to book. Beach Club wasn't available for that night in addition to our stay, so we have opted to just stay at a value that night. First time for everything! If our flight lands at 11:45pm, what time can we expect to reach the resort? We will be using magical express (we have to retrieve our own bags right?). We plan on heading straight to bed and then leaving as soon as we wake up. The kids just want to get to Beach Club. If we check into BC at 7-8am the next day, I thoroughly assume that our room won't be ready, but can we still use the lounge? Was hoping to make it for breakfast!

And one quick club level question, are we able to take a bottle of water with us to the parks in the morning? Debating if we need to order a case of water as well. Thanks for any insight!

Thank you! I am planning a Yacht/Beach trip for this fall and the thread is so helpful! Still have to decide which side we will be staying at. I think refurb completion will have some influence so I will stay tuned for more info!

Are they still offering afternoon tea at the BC Solarium or was this just during 2016? If so, how do you make reservations?

Hi :) I was surprised but I was able to secure a 2 bedroom villa at Beach club for my Nov dates today! we originally where in a Yacht club level room, but our 2 adult boys (24/21 and our 24 yo's girlfriend ) decided to join us so we needed the extra room!! I've never stayed In a villa before, it's on a cash reservation so we will still get daily housekeeping which is one of the only things deterring me from really loving dvc. We decided to go with deluxe dining in lieu of club level, so it will be new and interesting for us we are there Nov 11-16 after our cruise on the Fantasy. Our boys will meet us in Orlando and we will travel to the resort together after we disembark our cruise. I still have feelers out for 2 club level rooms at AKL, but I am thinking the location of beach club can't be beat during Food and wine!! Also the 2 BDRM villa will help us feel like we are all together as one big family! I am very excited!
Dee- on Thursday at 7am at my 10 months out date, I called WDW hoping, but not expecting, to modify my 2 rooms at YC. to a cash res 2 BR villa at either BC or BW. Only deluxe studio was available at BCV (anyone looking for that should call immediately!), but I was able to get a 2BR at BW! So, please remove me from your list (10/15-22) :(
However, I am just thrilled to be on Crescent Lake for F&W!! And this thread is so great, I will still be popping in from time to time. Thanks to everyone who posted when I was trying to decide between BCV and BWV. I had a feeling it wouldn't really be up to me and that availability would be the determining factor. Thanks again!

Hi Natebenma! Could you please update my info.... we now check into BEACH CLUB 2 bedroom VILLA Nov 11-16, 2017 :)

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

I'm glad you were able to get a 2BR, even though your trip will be across the lake.

Yes, please do stick around and read and post if you want!

::yes::

:welcome: to the thread!

Thanks for answering my question.

So happy to hear you had a fantastic trip.

:goodvibes

Bumping this!

Anyone know the current greeter(s) at the Beach Club?

:wave2:

Not sure if you have posted here, so

:welcome:

I seriously doubt all rooms will be finished by summer 2017, so you do have a chance to stay in one of the non-renovated room. I don't see why you couldn't request that. Once the work is underway and we know the way they will be progressing (top-down/wing by

So I emailed IPO today, as I heard a rumour that they were no longer doing ADRs. We are travelling in a large group, and we could really use assistance. I also asked about getting bottled water for the parks, as I noticed on the FAQ that they had apparently stopped giving that out. We LOVED that perk last time. I got an automatic response: "Thank you for contacting us at Walt Disney World Resort. Our Concierge team is currently assisting other guests. However, our reservation cast member are available to assist you with your planning needs. If you are looking to book a dining reservation, please contact 407-WDW-DINE from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Time or visit My Disney Experince. For other types of requests please contact 407-WDISNEY. A cast member will be happy to assist you. We look forward to seeing you once you arrive at the resort." This sounds like NO PLANNING AT ALL for CL! Have I missed something major???

No problem!
I agree 100% about the mug station! Hiking to the Beach Club Marketplace (or even Hurricane Hanna's) is not ideal.
I totally agree that a refill station at the Yacht Club is overdue. I'm hoping either as part of Fittings & Fairings or the upcoming (don't know when) reimagining of the Ale & Compass lounge.

They added the bottled drinks and snacks a few years ago (didn't even have THAT before). Not sure why they didn't just add a refill station. The YC gift shop is very nice and we stop in there every trip, but it's more than big enough. Taking one corner for a drink station surely wouldn't kill them. Heck, I like the BC marketplace gift shop too and it works fine the way it is!

Yes, you missed a major (but hopefully temporary) change.

Sometime during the fall, IPO stopped making advanced reservations for guests with a club level bookings at all resorts. The rumour is that sometime soon, IPO for all deluxe resorts with concierge level will be consolidated in one location and the service will be reinstated. But we don't have any details other than speculation that will happen. The club level CMs will help you with reservations to restaurants and other activities when you are onsite.

My recommendation for water, for club level and resort guests alike, is to bring reusable water bottles (that you can fill with ice) and get gallons of water from The Marketplace. Or, cases of water are now available from the Marketplace for around $7.

:sad2:

When is your 180 reservation day?

I'm liking the drawers in the vanity in the bathroom area but not a fan of no carpet on the floor. It will be very cold underfoot with aircon on.

From what I understand they have cut back on the number of CM's that assist Club Level guests and now a call center is handling everything. It's just another one of those patented, Disney, "Pay more and get less" moves. It's the new Disney don't ya know! Pretty soon they'll be an Up-Charge for clean towels and toilet paper in your hotel room. The first roll is FREE but you better hope that last guest didn't get you to the end of the roll that's on the holder... I'm also wondering if Disney is planing on making it an additional charge for the hot tub to actually be hot.

Go with God on those call center attempts. At least you have the knowledge base to do it yourself. As for ADR's, large groups (say like over 6 people) are a problem... so when you are making your reservations be sure to make them right on your 180 day mark. The system will choke on those large groups so split up your party depending upon the location. Making your ADR's as soon as your window opens gives you the best chance for getting everyone in to the restaurant that you want to dine at and close to the same time.

For example at 180 days you try to do an online ADR at LeCellier and you have 14 people that want to go.

*(if you call, the call center will only be looking at the same info that you have on your computer screen, so don't bother as there is no pixie dust to be found by calling to make an ADR. In fact you may even know more about how this process works and why than that agent staring at a computer screen.)

Now back to our example: Well, LeCellier isn't that kind of a large group restaurant. I think their largest table holds 8 and there might only be 2 or 3 of them in the whole restaurant. So the reservation system will choke and say that no tables are available... only they ARE but in smaller numbers like a 4 top... and that's IF Le Cellier has been loaded into the system because sometimes Disney doesn't load their restaurants at that 180 date mark. Trust me, they are a real PITA about that...

So you get online at 180 days first thing in the morning and start to plug in your guest numbers into your reservation. Start with your largest number and work your way down until the system will take you. 14 is rejected as no tables available so try entering... let's say two tables of 4 and one table of 6. You might even have to go as low as three tables of 4 and one table for two. ***Only YOU can't enter more than 1 table.... :scared1:

Now here is the bad news... Disney will only let you make one reservation, for a time of the day, per person. So if you needed two tables of 4 and one table of 6 that would be THREE tables total and 3 people would each have to make a reservation.

At this point you'll want to load the bazooka and take out the genius who got rid of the Grand Gatherings reservation system. Come to think of it, trying to make ADR's for large groups is such a train wreck it's no wonder they did away with the grand gatherings offering. I'm sure things just got to the point where the Grand gatherings planners would just steer people to the few restaurants that could accommodate large numbers in a group, like San Angel Inn or Nine Dragons.

So what is going to happen is that you and two other friends in your traveling party are going to have to get their act together and coordinate a time and place in your plan where they know which restaurant to make the reservation in, at the same time as everybody else and for the number of people in their Family units. AND they are doing this at the 180 day ADR mark.

*(You plus 2 friends = the three tables you will need for that restaurant because Disney only lets you book one table at a time)

Are we having fun yet??

Some restaurants will be able to book the larger numbers, others not so much. I have no idea which ones are like that, but I know LeCellier the best since it's my favorite, so that's why I used it as my small table numbers example...

PRO TIP: to check to see if the particular restaurant you want is loaded in the system and ready to make reservations, try entering in the numbers of 2 or 4 for the number of guests. If you are booking on the day that your 180 day window opens and no tables for 2 or 4 are available for anywhere near your TIME then that is telling you that the system has not been loaded with the reservation slots for that time period. HA HA! You are the lucky winner that gets to keep chasing that reservation loading date. Spin the wheel and see when it will be... is it today? Waa Waa, try again tomorrow and repeat ad nauseam until it shows up.

PRO TIP: bring lots of ammunition for that bazooka because you are going to want to use it a lot as you are trying to make plans.

Reminder: as long as one person shows up for a dining reservation you will not be charged for skipping out on your ADR. Disney is also fairly lax about last minute ADR cancellations as long as you inform them that you won't be coming BEFORE your arrival time. Otherwise it's the financial penalty for you who made the reservation if nobody shows up!

So the two main problems with large party ADR's is that A) some restaurants aren't set up to make reservations like that and B) Sometimes it can take MONTHS for the reservation slots to be loaded in the computer.

I had a situation where my group was trying to get into Whispering Canyon Restaurant. At 180 days nothing showed up... not a 4 top table or even a two top. All the people that were on watch to make ADR's kept checking and checking, all to no avail. This went on for months... Finally we sent a guy OVER to the restaurant to to SPEAK with the MANAGER and the manager told him that all the reservations were taken. We were like WTH! That couldn't be right.... and it wasn't. That MANAGER was a complete nincompoop. You would think that if we sent a guy over to inquire about the problem the manager would take the time to help him out... but NO... that lazy jerk just blew him off.

But we kept trying... and eventually Disney loaded the reservations into the system so we FINALLY got in. Then when we went to the restaurant they crammed 14 people into an 10 person table. It was awful. I couldn't even get close to the table it was so ridiculous. Only a moron would put 14 people at a 10 person table. I was in the ladies room when my group was taken to the table otherwise I would have seen that disaster coming and stopped that train wreck. So the moral of the story is that customer service is dead at the Whispering Canyon cafe and the village idiot is working as the hostess. Don't even get me started about that manager....

Pro Tip: if you have a person of size in your party or a person in a wheel chair or even if you are traveling with people that take a ridiculous amount of camera gear... book an extra seat at your table to give you the extra room that you will need. A restaurant like Le Cellier really crams them in, so my philosophy is that if your restaurant crams people in we will include a phantom person in the reservation so we have room for the wheelchair. Also keep in mind that tables usually come in even numbers so a party of 7 people will probably need an 8 top table.

...and how do I know all this? It's because I'm ~Ninja Mom!

! If our flight lands at 11:45pm, what time can we expect to reach the resort? We will be using magical express (we have to retrieve our own bags right?). It will most likely take at least 1/2 hour from touchdown to arrival at the Magical Express location. It usually takes approximately twenty minutes to get on a bus and have it leave the airport. Then it takes about 35 minutes to reach the first resort. Each bus usually stops at multiple resorts, spending a few minutes at each. So two hours from touch down to entering your resort is common. You'll have to bring your luggage with you on the bus.

Are they still offering afternoon tea at the BC Solarium or was this just during 2016? If so, how do you make reservations?
The afternoon tea was offered for a short time last year. There haven't been any announcements about them bringing it back. But when they do I think you'll be able to make an ADR for it through the regular dining section of the Disney website. You could also call Disney dining for reservations.

The first time we stayed at a BCV - 2 br villa was when our kids were in their late teens and early 20's. It was great to have the extra space and a living room to gather in. We celebrated a few birthdays and watched a NFL playoff game during the times we were in the villa. It was great. I hope you enjoy your stay there. :)

Ohhhh love the shower in the YC refurb room!
I love the shower, too. We were given a handicap accessible room at the BC and I loved the shower. I would choose a room with a shower over a tub at Disney every time. ::yes:: In fact, if all the YC rooms are now going to have that lovely shower, I might switch to the dark side (YC) for a trip later this fall or winter.

'

My ADR date is February 19th. Can you still book 10 days out from that or do you have to go back day by day? I am actually hoping I can do it for eight days in a row because when I read what NM wrote my head started spinning around!!!

I'm seriously upset about this. Where I usually travel in large groups the IPO was a HUGE benefit to me. Extremely irritating to lose it!
