Skip DHS on next trip?

Hi! We have been to WDW many times and always included all parks. Our kids will have just turned 6 (girl) and 4 (boy) when we go in April 2017. When we were there in 2015 we were not impressed with DHS for our little ones. Only have 5 days (4 because one is departure day) so we are thinking about skipping DHS and spending more time at MK. Think we'll be sorry if we skip it? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
If I only had 4 days, yes, I'd do 2 at MK an skip a park...for me it'd be AK, but I'd skip DHS for 2 MK's too.

I planned for only MK and AK during our last trip. (We did hop to Epcot at one point.) We also only did an evening at DHS because there isn't much there.

I wouldn't give DHS a second thought. I'd rather go to Disney Springs personally.

I would go down the list of attractions to make sure your not overlooking something that someone in the group considers a must do. You'll probably skip having been there a lot but at least make an informed choice. If you have a star wars fan, they will probably want to go.

Just us 4, DH and two little ones 6 and 4. Went through the attractions and didn't feel anything was a must see for our family. No star wars fans. :)
Thanks!!

It's in transition now, so probably skip it, especially as it has the least amount of attractions, and especially skip if you're not into Star Wars

I know it's and added expense but this is why we won't go without hoppers anymore. We head to HS, ride Rnrc, tot, and star tours a couple times each then gmr. If we'd have the time after we'd see Indiana jones. After that we'd head to another park for our FPs. Later on in the week we'd head back to HS for FP in the afternoon and do anything else that we may want (launch bay mostly).

We also do this for AK and EP. Honestly, to us, we don't think any park is a full day park. although MK has enough that it could be and if you enjoy world showcase so could Epcot but we'd rather do a little in a couple parks each day.

I'm a huge Fantastic fan. So last few times we got FP+ for tot and receive, then went right into fantastic. That's it, least amount of time possible. Curious to spend a day once they complete renovations.

I'm going for the first time in a few weeks and have no plans to go to HS. Nothing there interests me enough to spend a whole day park ticket on it. I'd much rather spend an extra day at Magic Kingdom.

My kids won't know any different, and there is plenty to do at the other 3 parks.

Animal Kingdom is a skip for us. We'll be going there on our next two trips, but after that my kids have requested to not go back. The only reason to go on the next two is (1)my daughter wants to meet Pocahontas on our mother/daughter trip this month and (2)my husband and I are going on an Adults Only trip and it's our goal to hit all four parks in one day.

I think you answered your own question when you said you weren't impressed with the park and you only have 4 days. Personally, I really like the park, but if you don't and your time is limited, don't go.

I agree with this.

I wouldn't skip it, in fact we ended up with an unplanned third visit there on our last trip because we wanted to see the Star Wars fireworks again and ride TOT a few more times... but we're adults, and know we enjoy the rides (TOT, RnRC, TSMM, ST are worth the trip for us, plus we enjoyed the Frozen Sing Along and meeting Olaf, visiting the Launch Bay - meeting Chewbacca was a life long dream!- and those amazing fireworks)... but YMMV, and if you feel you'll get better time at MK (and don't have park hoppers to give DHS maybe half a day), then you're probably better off at MK. Wouldn't be my choice, but I'm not you :)

I love how everyone is different. I could quite happily skip Disney Springs (can't, sadly, as it's where we have to pick up our gift card- well played Disney, well played), but other than that and perhaps a quick stop at Earl of Sandwich, it's a bit meh to us. I realise that puts us (particularly as an adult only group!) in a minority, but the appeal just doesn't get me, and I'd sooner be at DHS any day!

I know the park is a mess right now, but the attractions TSMM, ToT, RRC and Fantasmic make the park a MUST for us ♥

Ultimately you'll know what's best for your family. We are actually still planning two days here (even with the construction that's going on). We're eager to experience the new Star Wars areas and really just enjoy the atmosphere at DHS. We sure will miss the Animation Academy though. We could have spent a full day there.

DHS is a pile of hot steamin' garbage right now. I would absolutely skip it. Once they get all of their plans built (Avatar, Star Wars Land, and Toy Story land), I will visit again. Until then, total pass!
