Just ran into a couple whose daughter was registered to run and they are PISSED. "They just don't want to spend the money! We've been here all week spending money!"

People who don't understand Florida Lightning will always come up with crazy reasons. I heard a lot of pissed off comments during Wine & Dine 2015 at the after party (and my husband who was running heard a lot of people being super naive at ESPN).

I understand being disappointed. I understand crying from that disappointment. Being pissed is just silly as its for your own safety.

Full, 10K, 5K, Dopey, and the half if You count that could be 5.

Oh that stinks. Lot of people running only the half have to be really disappointed.

That would be me, but I'm okay with the decision. I think the compensation options are fair too. And bundle up all of you marathoners. It's going to be chilly on Sunday.

Which Is why Myself and the GF from the UK are okay with it. The forecast is looking like it'll clear up later in the morning, its 2.25 miles round the epcot lake including the Pavilion so thats 6 laps in our own time with no pressure in the safety of the Epcot site should the weather turn nasty again and then after the Marathon tomorrow we can get our Dopey medals and feel we deserve them for doing the 4 distances in 4 days

Disney could turn their remaining marathon entries into relays.

The worst part of the storm is set to hit when oh 80-90% of the runners would be on world drive with zero shelter.. it's a tough call..

This occurred about 10 feet from my house. It wasn't raining over my house at the time but lightning struck and caused a fire in the brush around my neighbor's tree. I'm really happy we were home as we were able to put it out before it reached our home.





Or the time it struck the transformer on a perfectly sunny day and left parts of it all over my driveway!

I'm so sorry folks. I know this must be such a major bummer after all the hard work that has been put in.

I will say, though, that at first glance I'm pretty impressed by the compensation options offered by RunDisney. The one half I was registered for that was cancelled for weather (a forecasted brush with a hurricane that ended up missing us entirely), the offer was 25% off the next year's race. Granted, that race was nowhere near as high profile as this one, but RunDisney seems to be doing much more than they are obligated to do. It'll be interesting to see if they have any additional offers for the Goofy/Dopey folks.

Agreed. I was expecting nothing - and we aren't entitled to anything from runDisney. This is generous.

I was totally prepared for them to announce a shortened course. Them canceling is shocking to me.
