Rogue One catch all thread

Rey and Ben don't have to be related. Yes, the saga stories are about the Skywalkers, sure, but we've already got two: Luke and Ben. Rey is the protagonist, at least now. What if Ben Solo is the protagonist by the end?

Wow...the bad guy has never turned good before...

I get it...that the story is already "out there"...particularly that Kylo ren "saved" Rey already once...but this is...a stretch...but in an unimaginative way...

Just like the bad prequels.

I for one am looking towards episode VIII. I liked just about everything about VII except that it was basically a re hash of Episode IV. It was just nice to see a Star Wars movie on the big screen since it had been about 10 years or so. My main question is if they are going to keep the movies in the main series going or if they will stop at IX. Maybe they will stop at IX and begin again after a certain amount of years?

As far as movies that are before IX I feel like they would have endless material, like the supposed Boba Fett standalone that is coming, they could do other movies between III and IV. I feel like the possibilities are endless. But here is also the thought that they series could get tired out and people would just start to get bothered by it rather than excited by it. I myself wouldn't being a big fan and all, but I'm sure the majority of people would

What you describe here as a "minor" problem is a YUGE one for me. Rehashed story with somewhat rehashed archetype characters that lead to predictable places.

But to be fair...iger's announcement when they bought lucasfilm did say that there were "limitless" possibilities. I hope they explore as many as they can. I can use less whining about poor anakin and more old stories like we have just seen.

Well it is more than a minor problem but oh well it is what it is. I completely agree and hope they explore everything possible, Rogue One was fantastic and it really did prove that they don't NEED a familiar character to be successful (however seeing Vader in his scenes were appropriate and amazing).

I thought R1 made the original movies better...something neither the lucas cgi debaucles nor TFA did.

Well, sure, Vader turned good. At the end. And then died. But Kylo staying evil doesn't really seem very imaginative either. But even if he does stay evil, I'm not sold on Rey being a Skywalker. She certainly isn't Han and Leia's child.

Not a sister...

The most likely scenario is:
1. Cousin
2. Related to kenobi somehow
3. Daughter of some "secret" powerful Jedi (the Harry Potter theory)
4. Yoda's lovechild with Olivia Newton John

...none of those create much "mystery" (except #4)...george lucas Kinda amateur, no?

The Star Wars fanbase is very against the solo movie...

The reason is simple: we all know what Solo did and what he is...

It was Harrison ford circa 1977-1980.

Trying to reinvent a beloved character is just not adding to the franchise. We don't need it and frankly don't want it.

I think they made a mistake with Solo in the force awakens as well. Kennedy, abrams, kasdan, and disney all did too much service to what ford and his wallet wanted. He had them by the proverbial stones.

The killed Han Solo...and it was about as gut wrenching as a scene from big top pee wee. It was a high paid exit vehicle from an actor well past his prime. Now on to Indy 5 ::yes::

The first time I saw TFA, I honestly thought Kylo was going to turn. How would have that been for a plot twist? Otherwise, Solo in that movie was just meh.

I'd rather see a Obi One film, then a Solo film. And Ewan McGregor was one of the lone brights spots in the prequels. Bring him back.

Well I remember a while back the Disney infinity game kind of messed up because Kylo yelled "cousin" to Rey during the game. But a lot of people also speculate that Rey may be a reincarnation of the chosen one/a child of the force. I think it'll be interesing nonetheless

The Star Wars Speculation subreddit has five main factions regarding Rey:

1. She's Han and Leia's daughter.
2. She's Luke's daughter.
3. She's Kenobi's granddaughter.
4. The Chosen One is reincarnated, like Neo. Rey is the new Chosen One.
5. She's just Rey.

(Note there are also more wacky theories, like she's a Palpatine).

And of those five...4 is the most interesting...

But why is that a problem?

Because lucas screwed they idea up so badly...as in a midichlorian poop sandwich

I actually heard a crazier theory that is VERY unlikely but interesting. That she was created by Sidious/his child. Pretty crazy
