Who are the nicest /rudest celebs you have met?

The Beckhams were awesome, so kind to my boys especially considering they were being mobbed. Bill Russell was rude (I didn't actually meet him, we were just sat close to him and observed his behaviour) but from what DH says he had always ignored fans and refused autographs

I've got two that would surprise some.

1. Alec Baldwin
Met him at a fundraiser on Long Island. Stopped and chatted for about 5 minutes. Great guy. Have read/seen some news stories that would contradict this but from my experience I would have to disagree.

2. George Steinbrenner
I was a teenager at the time and sitting alone on a barstool at Denny's in Ocala, FL having breakfast. There were, at most, 5 other people in the whole place. In walks this guy wearing a sport coat, those familiar sunglasses he wore, and a huge gold ring on his hand. He proceeds to sit down at the barstool 2-away from me. I leaned over and said, "Excuse me Mr. Steinbrenner can I have your autograph?" He politely agreed and asked me my name. I said, "Oh no sir it's not for me. I'm a Mets fan. It's for my Dad." He laughed and signed a Denny's napkin.

When my husband was in a band and they won battle of the bands two years straight they got to open for a big act at Wild Adventures, in Valdosta Ga. The first band was Simple Plan. These guys were so cool, down to earth and just flat out nice. The second band was Foreigner, needless to say Foreigner was the exact opposite of Simple Plan. :rockband:

Why is it needless to say?

would have to be Michael Jackson, he did so much for his fans that most people dont know. He had so much time for his fans, signing autographs, taking photos and so much more. It really makes me mad when I see how some famous people treat their fans, especially people Justin Bieber, when there is no need for it.

What has he done? I'm not a fan of Justin Bieber, but do know he's granted over 200 wishes from the Make A Wish Foundation, so he can't be that bad.

just type in Justin Bieber rude to fans and there a huge amount of videos and posts, some of most epic fan fails are refusing gifts from fans, refusing to sign autographs and take photos, telling fans they suck , the list is endless. granting wishes to Make A Wish Foundation, thats something most likely he is contracted and paid to do, probably an arrangement his PR or management did with Make A Wish

Because Foreigner has been around a whole lot longer than Simple Plan, and the way they treated the people around them showed that they were very much stuck on themselves and very demanding. The other band who was still fairly new to stardom came across very humbled and hadn't lost sight of how they made it to where they were.

Met Newt Gingrich and his wife, Callista, in a famous bar in Singapore. Callista was so sweet, friendly, warm, and very nice. Newt was not. We happened to walk in at the same time, so it wasn't as if we approached them on purpose.

The 2 that stick out at the moment who I had the honor to work for are Richie Havens and Arlo Guthrie. They were both awesome souls. Ryan Cabrera would be on my "Meh" list along with many others

Ran into Paul Newman a couple times at Indy Car test sessions. Test days are not busy like race weekends so he didn't have to be "on guard" quite so much. One thing I knew he didn't like to do was sign autographs, but he was fine with pictures. He invited us to have a snack with him at the team buffet. He was eating chips and salsa and I asked if it was Newman's Own. He picked up the jar of Chi Chi's salsa and said "No, and I own the damn team!"

My husband and I were on all the TCM cruises. The nicest celebs ever...Kim Novak, Eva Marie Saint, Iliana Douglass,Robert Osborne, Robert Wagner, richard Dreyfus, tab hunter. The rudest...Jerry Lewis. I also met Paul McCartney once....lovely man. And saw the Fonz in an airport lounge....very sweet.

Googling Jackson also brings up some pretty nasty stuff. At least Bieber hasn't had a slew of accusations of sexual molestation of young fans. You can find what you want googling a celebrity. Most is probably not true.

Most of my encounters are from sporting events, but the only other one was that I shared an elevator at the Beach Club with Michael Eisner and his wife. I had just checked in and was waiting to go up to my room, with a handful of stuff. They were talking to a CM behind me (waiting for the elevator), and I didn't even realize it was them until the CM addressed him by name as he was getting in behind me.

On the few seconds on the way to the 4th(?) floor, I simply said "Mr. Eisner, it's an honor to meet you". He just kind of looked at me as the doors opened on my floor...never said a word. His wife was nice, though, and wished me a nice stay.

You said it was needless. Needless means we all already know so it isn't needed. But I don't think most of us have any idea what they are like, so it is needed to be stated.

I was in the lobby of a play and Uma Thurman and I had eye contact. She just kinda gave a nod like "yes hello it is me" and I smiled back. Ethan Hawke was starring in the show.

another time Michael Douglas was behind me in line for a broadway show. I didn't say anything.
Honestly, I don't really have anything to say and feel that these people need their privacy. I wouldn't want random strangers talking to me!

I don't think you got the point of this thread. The OP wasn't asking about charity works or fan events. This is a thread about casual celebrity encounters people in this forum have had, just unexpected brushes with fame. It isn't a competition either, so saying "would have to be MJ" would have to be what? Out of place.

Also, why the need to put down Bieber to build your idol up? I'm not a fan of Bieber, but to put someone down to make MJ look like a saint is just ugly.

And like a PP said, googling Jackson brings up really ugly results

@moon
like other posters have talked about meeting celebs, I have met Michael Jackson, not at organised meet and greet events but at casual encounters, outside hotels, in shops etc. the question the OP asked is who is the nicest celeb you have met and for me , it would have to be Michael Jackson. ok so you dont like my choice of celeb, so let me see, other celebs I have met at casual celeb encounters, Kevin Spacey, who was signing autographs outside a theatre in London. He was reluctant to sign a photo of himself that I had taken a few weeks previously of him walking the red carpet at the BAFTAS.

At work I have met U2. alot of tennis players like Andy Murry, Greg Rudeski, Pat Cash, Timothy Spall (Peter Petigrew / Wormtail in Harry Potter and all have been very nice
