how is security at Disney Springs?

Not safe to go anywhere in Atlanta at night unless you have a concealed carry license which many of my friends have. Is it safe to go to Disney Springs without packing a pistol? Can you go alone without purse snatching or mugging?

I went solo several times during my trip earlier this month and stayed after dark and felt very safe. I did see a large security presence, both Disney security and regular law enforcement just as I have seen in the parks the past couple years. Just use common sense and be aware of your surroundings like you would anywhere.

Thanks. I have never noticed security at DTD and heard reports of gangs at night harassing tourists. May not be true though. Would like to think there is a security force.

Visible security is all over the place, lots of them much more than the past, including uses dogs... actually felt like too much to me the first time I saw it. I don't really try to pick out the non-visual cast members but I will say I have been in a park when there was a minor issue but needed immediate response (many years ago long before these changes, basically a family quarrel that went to far) and the amount of people you thought were on vacation that jumped in and turned out to be security was insane, and that was when it was just disney before 9/11. now, I'm guessing it would make any casino cry at how far behind they are in security.

I would say DS is fairly safe. The Pulse nightclub shooter had cased DS and Disney was aware of his visits, and told the FBI so. The security presence in DS is said to have deterred him from an attack there.

Frankly I'd be more worried about someone that feels the need to "pack a pistol" than of gangs harassing tourists, particularly since someone that "packs" in Atlanta isn't necessarily legal to carry in Florida.

I worked at JcPenney pretty 9/11.

We had 3 "loss prevention" security personnel on the clock any given day. And this was a small store. They dressed normally and spent their shift pretending to shop and blending in and no one noticed them.

I would imagine Disney's security laughably exceeds that.

There's more visible and probably undercover security at Disney Springs than anywhere on Disney property!!

I am sorry but I have to comment. I live outside of Chicago and its no secret that we are consider the murder capital of the United States and still with all of that I don't feel a need to carry a gun when I go into the city. You have to be smart and aware. But I can't believe that you would consider Disney Springs to be similar to Atlanta or Chicago. It sounds like you are trying to get some emotions to boil over and begin a discussion on gun control. So sad.

Uh oh...better tell my Atlanta dwelling family they'd better arm themselves. I don't know how they've managed to survive lo these 30 years. Ball games at Turner field. Concerts and WWE events downtown. Maybe they just look too tough to mess with?

So basically what you are saying is:

gun = safe
nogun = unsafe????

I think you are just trying to stir up trouble here...

I can't even believe this thread exists. Disney security has proven themselves to be perhaps the best security agency in this country. It's the only place I feel completely safe anymore.

Disney security is better than the FBI. It's safe. Period.

Hell, I live -IN- the city and for the four years I've been here I have never had anything remotely dangerous happen to me/around me, knock wood. Certainly nothing that would prompt me to start carrying a gun. I agree that OP is just trying to start something.

I personally haven't felt safe inside disney parks ever since they stopped allowing kids to conceal carry bubble guns o_O

I personally am concerned that the only blasters in the parks belong to storm troopers. Hello, they are the bad guys...

And it seems that every kid is carrying a Kylo Ren light saber. Did they not comprehend the movie??? (Are their parents not concerned?)

I've been going to Downtown Disney/Disney Springs alone at night since I was 10 years old. My 84 year old great-grandmother goes alone. I'm not saying there isn't shoplifting and things like that happening on occasion, but it's safe there. Or the illusion of safety is there with the security presence, which is good enough for us.
