magic band 2.0

My understanding is that the accessories are supposed to come with a little screwdriver, but I could be wrong. I don't know the projected availability of them.

2. Was it suppose to come with something to take the puck out?? Or are we responsible for buying tiny mini screwdrivers??

They come with the accessories including extra screws.

Security is going to love this.

I got my magic band 2.0 for my AP yesterday.

1. Do we know yet when accessories will be available? It's really big on my wrist and I would prefer not to wear it.

1. the accessories are due out any day now. I checked in Epcot yesterday and while they had a couple of the new MB's they didn't have any of the accessories yet. The CM checked on it while I was there.

2. As reported above, apparently there will be a screwdriver with the accessory. I'm imagining it will be a tiny, easy to loose one.

Also Disney will offer an exciting new experience called "Tink's MagicBand Workshop" where Tink herself will use her own tiny screwdriver to unscrew the screws for Guests!

I don't know...I hope it doesn't take longer for people to fumble and find their key chains or whatever in line, or angle their purse correctly. You know there's always one...just easier to put my wrist to the Mickey head and go!

Why does it matter? you don't just run onto the ride after, if it takes 3 seconds longer for your turn, you just have 3 seconds less to stand in the queue waiting for your turn to ride.

Well it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, does it? Most things on this board don't matter.

And I'm speaking more of getting in the park - in 2014 some people took forever trying to line up the band with the Mickey Head and I'm betting some of the same problems will happen with the accessories.

I think the band is easier. :)

I'm with you on the park entrance. that spot takes way too long and bag check is faster which is backwards.

Thanks for reposting. I don't think either of those twitter posts say definitively that all guests will now get 2.0, though. It says APs "should" get it, and that the band started shipping to resort guests but doesn't say all resort guests.

Good point, I suspect if someone in the group wants that 1 color they already ran out of, you get them.. I know I read somewhere that disney said all, looking for that link now it was posted on the 20th by them.

My bands shipped 12/19 and arrived today. All the original bands in purple, orange, red and blue. I would say that tweet was not definitive on a ship day to general public. I haven't seen any reports of anyone (not AP) receiving 2.0 bands yet.

Ours were shipped on the 20th, orange and purple. Based on your results looks like we'll end up with 1.0 as well. Thanks for telling us what you got.

I bought the WDW 45th band as I was going to wait in line for the 7D at the 12/18 Christmas party and wore it for the rest of the trip. It felt more comfortable than either of the other 2 generations I have. It's thin and flexible yet doesn't feel as if it will come open easily. Unfortunately, due to how the trip went, I might need a new puck if/when I ever go again.

That's a good question, nobody has had them long enough to actually know if the battery life has changed. Hopefully by that time, enough demand to just sell the icons at a reduced price would have started so you can just replace the icon and enjoy your favorite band or you do have the option to take a free band for a resort stay and move that icon to your band.

Wondering if we have a definitive answer to how long the battery has been lasting in version 1.0 of the MBs.

Wondering if we have a definitive answer to how long the battery has been lasting in version 1.0 of the MBs.

I don't think there is an easy answer for this and here is my probably long winded reason why. In the FCC filing it indicates that it's 2 way communication of the wireless, so to me I think the band sleeps with something powered listening for a wake up signal. Is the second revision of the bands (not 2.0, the ones that started to appear end of 2015 and still available now that are a little thinner) the FCC filing shows they increased the radio power of the band. It might not be battery related for that change but it could have been that the half life of the battery was too weak to signal anything so they upped the signal. Also the signal would have to turn off or it wouldn't be allowed on an airplane which many take to get their band to disney.

So the band is using more power when in use and I assume since disney doesn't track that only comes into play if your somewhere the band gets used which is storytellers, ride photos which isn't limited to just the parks. But an interesting thing is I noticed on the disney research tablets that they are told electronically who to survey so it's not limited to just where the band gets read.

Now, batteries have use by dates for a reason and they can't just sit around forever and stay powerful enough to work when your ready for it. So now shelf life before you even got the band needs to be considered.

When you look at all of this, someone who visits disney a lot will have a band life that is much shorter. Someone who got the last of a limited edition run that was collecting dust all year, has a shorter life (I've experienced this one, 4 months it lasted). someone who has a longer stay will have a shorter life..

There is just too many variables and for the frequent visitor side of this point, disney wouldn't give annual passholders yearly new bands if they thought it would last 2 years for a frequent visitor.

I think the safe answer is it will work for 1 year, unless you purchased the last of a limited edition band that has sat around a long time. After that, you might get lucky.
