"I want more....and I know I shouldn't" - 2 Food & Wine Festival Trips - 12/10 Complete! Goofy's/STK

Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It - Tequila

After our ice cream stop, we parted ways with E. She didn’t plan on joining us on the Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It event. She was going to have some me time back at the hotel room either taking a nap or going to the pool or reading - whatever it is she wanted to do. We told her we should be back to the room around 5:30pm or so and we could plan our next moves then.

S and I slowly walked up towards the front, stopping by the Club Cool to get a drink to hydrate with sweet soda and then we headed over to the Festival Center to look through the shop, the artwork and the chocolate displays before our event was due to start.

Ticket Pick Up

At the artwork store, I sent my husband a text of artwork I wanted (while sober) of Stitch but I didn’t want to impulse buy something he wasn’t too much of a fan of. (Later in the event, he said to get it! yay!) While looking for the chocolate displays, you could tell that they had some type of cooling issue in the days before as a few of the displays were blocked from view, unless you looked a very funky angle (which I of course did) and you could tell why they blocked it as parts of the displays had fell over or melted away and hadn’t been fixed yet. It is too bad as the Big Hero 6 Display looked like it would have been awesome!

We still had a little time to kill but we just decided to take a seat in the line that was by the entrance and relax until the event would be starting. A little before 4pm, they started letting us in and let us decide where we wanted to sit. We decided to go up front and center.

Set Up

When the speaker started, we realized that this was turning into a very overpriced version of what the mixology seminars used to be. The speaker was from the parent company that owns Casa Noble (which I do love like I mentioned in the Mexican Tequila Lunch) but it was more of a sales pitch than anything else for the first 30 minutes of the event. Yes, we got to taste the various types of tequila (blanco, reposado, anejo) and learn how tequila is made but I’ve heard that story so many times at this point I could probably recite it in my sleep.

Speaker & Pam

I admit I was distracted during this and S and I kept giving each other a look during it. We were happy when something got served to us that was food like! It was a cold crab salad with a toasted baguette. It was nice to have something to soak up the tequila.

Crab Salad

It wasn’t until 30 minutes in did we get to the “Mixing/Making” part of the event. It was a pretty simple cocktail to make - it was an old fashioned but instead of whiskey we used the Casa Noble Anejo. It was a tasty cocktail and a nice twist of what I usually drink when I have an old fashioned.

Old Fashioned

Upon leaving the event we were given the recipe for the crab salad and old fashioned along with 2 coasters that said "Food & Wine Festival" on them.

I'm hoping to have a better review of this event when my husband and I go in November for the Boozy Milkshake one but my hopes are much lower after this event.

Hmm, yeah that doesn't sound as exciting as the Tequila lunch  But, it is cool to get to try all these things. Those chocolate sculptures look cool though, I had no idea about them!

So excited for your report! FF looked fantastic ...that whiskey bacon drink looked so good and I don't even like whiskey! Probably not politically correct but we call the Donald ride Mexican it's a small world... We love it! Oh no....why can't you run? Can't wait to read more!!

None of those festival center events have really appealed to me. I've heard the Tequila speech probably a hundred times, and several other boozes as well. I'm glad that I continually pass on them especially as they are getting very pricey!

Did you read my update about Guy Fieri's Banana Foster Milkshake from CA F&W? If you like banana, Google it! It's sooooo good! I've made it a few times now. I'll be interested to hear about the boozy milkshake seminar too!

L’Artisan Des Glaces

As we wandered more of the World Showcase, we stopped by the Chase Lounge to rest up for a bit to get out of the sun and relaxed and well sobered up some. S took about a 30 minute nap. We picked up wristbands for the 8:00PM Eat to the Beat Concert as E used to love the band when she was younger.

When we were done, we headed towards France as S and I wanted something sweet. I wanted something refreshing more than heavy and I was really looking forward to the Lemon Meringue Ice Cream I had in the past. I was disappointed that it wasn’t there but I adjusted my plan and just went with a lemon sorbet as I knew that would also be a nice refreshing choice. It wouldn’t feel too heavy but it also would cool me off and get food in my stomach! I was really happy with this. S went with the chocolate macaron which she was happy with but wished it was a bit bigger!

no pic of the macaron? I am dying to try one. We are doing DxDDP though so smaller side might work out for the best!

It wasn't nearly as exciting as the lunch! I did love seeing all the chocolate sculptures - hopefully when I go back in a couple weeks, all the ones behind the paper walls will be fully shown now!

I love whiskey :) I love Bacon! It was such a good drink!

I'm not one to be politically correct ;)

I can't run because I decided to be smart to tear some muscles and tendons in my good ankle. I'm wearing a super awesome sexy boot for the month of October.

I've heard the Tequila Speech, Whiskey Speech, Rum Speech, Vodka, Beer and Wine Speeches entirely too many times for being a 30 year old. I think that means I might have a probably have a problem. At 15 dollars, I didn't mind. At $45, I do!

I had read about your demos! That milkshake definitely looked good! Hopefully the one we do will good as well.

I didn't take a picture of her food as well - I was behaving. Here is a photo of one I had on previous trip and I did love it!

ESPN Club

After the Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It, I purchased my artwork and the cashier was super awesome in how she bagged it as she said there might be rain. S and I began walking to International Gateway to head back to the Boardwalk. We went into the store at the Gateway as S needed to pick up something for one of her friends but as she was checking out, it started pouring buckets. When we took a look at the radar on the phone, we realized it wasn’t going to let up anytime soon. This gave us the option of waiting for a long while for the rain to end or fast walking it back to the Boardwalk and just dealing with it. Being Floridians, we took that second option. We were soaked to the bones by the time we got to the room. I was also glad all of us were good enough friends to just being able to handle the fact that as soon as I got to the room, I totally stripped down out of the wet clothes and jumped into the shower ASAP to time to warm up as it was chilling me. Why S didn’t do the same I have no idea? She just got into different clothes and fell straight asleep. I got comfy as well after my shower that warmed me up and also got in a quick power nap.

When we all woke up from our naps, it was after 7:00PM at night. We looked at the radar on our weather apps and realized the rain wasn’t going to end. We decided going back to the 8PM concert probably wouldn’t be wise. We also needed dinner! Based on the feel of the group - we just wanted something simple. Our first choice was ESPN Club with the second to be the brewing place or one of the fast fried food places. Luckily, ESPN Club was walk in and we were really quickly seated.

I was the only one to get an alcoholic beverage because apparently I decided I hadn’t had enough yet. I did only have one!

I also went for something indulgent for dinner. This was a great choice after a day where I probably had way more tequila than I should have. The pork was tender. There was enough cheese and the texas toast was sturdy enough to hold up for it all. The market slaw on the side was just ok but that isn’t what I was ordering the dish for.

E was healthy with her Chicken Caesar Salad (it was like dining with my husband pre vegetarianism!) and S went with the Nachos and stole half of my french fries.

After dinner, E and S got Ice Cream from Ample Hills. They were really happy with it! No photo evidence of this visit though!

thank you! it looks soooo good! it will be mine!

We ate at ESPN last Nov. and while I liked what I got, I regretted not getting the pulled pork grilled cheese!
How was the Black Cherry hard cider? Sounds good :)

The pulled pork grilled cheese looked yummy! Yes all those carbs were needed after the tequila. Did your art work make out ok after your walk in the downpour?

Oh no! I was in a boot last December and it sucked! Not as bad as being on crutches ...but still not fun! I got out of it a month before our Feb trip. I hope it doesn't ruin your next trip...take care of yourself!

Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It sounds more like Sell It, Talk About It, Maybe Drink Some of It to me :-) But you are the undisputed tequila champ of the DIS. :worship: Glad you got some much needed carbs in your at ESPN. That grilled cheese looks like a dream.

It is really good! I just didn't want chocolate at that point as I wanted something lighter. You should be really happy with it!

There was a decent amount on the menu that totally looked tasty. I am glad I went with the post drunk junk food choice though as that was perfect after all the tequila!

The black cherry hard cider was good - I had it before during either last year's festival or the year's before.

It was totally needed! Just the right amount of fat, grease and carbs to soak it all up and make it so I wasn't hungover and that I didn't get sick!

My artwork did make it ok. The bagging method totally helped plus the artwork was in a box that had the print itself wrapped in plastic as well.

Oh no! I was in a boot last December and it sucked! Not as bad as being on crutches ...but still not fun! I got out of it a month before our Feb trip. I hope it doesn't ruin your next trip...take care of yourself!

It won't ruin my next trip - just make it so that I can't race...well not really race. I may very well start and get swept because I paid the money and I can't defer - might as well get my medal! (well the 2 of the 3 I can get by doing that)

The course maps came out and honestly - I'm ok with missing the half - the half from Mile 8.5 to the End is everything I hate about Princess.

That is a good way to describe that event!

Undisputed Tequila Champ! I like that title >< I shall own that!

I'm glad I got my awesome grilled cheese as well. It was a great food to soak up whatever would be left in my stomach before bed!

Gaston’s Tavern

Magic Kingdom was opening at 8AM. We had set our alarms for 6:45AM and we all had woken up with the alarm or before the alarm going off. Since we had all showered the day before, it didn’t take us long to get ready. We actually arrived at the Magic Kingdom before opening and were able to see the opening show!

The Castle!

After getting through some rides around Fantasyland that we knew it would be really long once the morning went longer, we decided to stop by Gaston’s Tavern for breakfast. S and I both ordered the same thing - a warm cinnamon roll and a LeFou’s Brew. E said she wasn’t hungry and then stole bites of my Cinnamon Roll (which I was ok with as it was entirely too large for me to eat the whole thing) E wasn’t a fan of LeFou’s Brew as it was too sweet for her. It is sweet but at this point, I know what to expect (Frozen Apple Juice w/ a hint of Toasted Marshmallow and Passion Fruit Foam on top) so I enjoy it.

E & S

After Haunted Mansion, we made a pit stop at a pretzel cart for E & S to enjoy a Mickey Pretzel with Cheese Dip. I stole a bite of E’s! An Ibis kept trying to steal both of E’s & S’s but we kept making them go away!

Our last ride was Jungle Cruise which ended up taking way longer than normal as two boats in front of us broke down and had to be rescued. This took a long time and you get to hear all the jokes at that point!

Stuck On Jungle Cruise

We were given FP+ good for most rides in the park except for Mine Train, Mickey or the Fairies but we had already done all the rides at this point we wanted to do so we found a family of 3 to give our magic passes to and headed back to the Boardwalk. At the Boardwalk, we took an hour or so nap before we were head out for the evening!

I have been super busy and am just getting to your reviews. Let me start by saying that the Maple Bacon Peach Manhattan sounded good to me when you posted about it on facebook and it looks amazing!

Too bad Mix It, Make It was kind of a dud - there's a lot they could do with it. I like tequila a lot and went to a tasting back before lunch was added - may be time to give that another try. I went to ESPN for the first time recently (coincidentally also in a downpour)and was very pleasantly surprised. Your sandwich looks amazing!!!!! Fun morning in the MK- I admire your ability to get up so early!!

ESPN sounds good for the food, but I've never considered eating there as I loathe sports on TV. I record the news so that I can forward through sports and commercials.

Fran loves that cinnamon roll. I'm not sure I've even been on the Jungle Cruise at MK.

That's very nice that you were ok sharing your cinnamon roll from Gastons :goodvibes I am not so nice! Last time DH and I stopped there we each got one and I managed to eat 3/4 of mine. If the kids had been with us I would have slapped their hands away lol!

Is this really a thing, cause I've never seen it :-) Try as we may, my crew just can't seem to ever make a rope drop or an ADR on time for that matter :P

Yum, Yum, and more yum. Sadly we missed Gastons on our last trip and Jason especially was not happy about it. Of course we missed it because of his insistence on having more breakfasts (4 to be exact). I'd give up breakfast for a cinnamon roll from Gastons just about any day.

Post snack, we did some more rides getting all of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland done.

Is this really your score? I'm such a novice and totally suck at Buzz that I don't think I've ever gotten much over 100K

Wow, how long did this take? Did they literally have to rescue the people off the boat, or just "rescue" the boats?
