april 2017 discounts

I just started one. Hopefully, it will get the ball rolling.

I should have just kept it moving on this thread.

Week after Easter is the Half Marathon week - not likely for discounts from what I've heard!

I'll be checking in March 31, but I'll be there through 4/8. Looking forward to seeing any discounts.

There was room discounts during the Walt Disney World Marathon, and Disney Princess Half weekend Marathon Weekend this past year. I wouldn't count on no room discounts for that week just because of the Star Wars Half run.

sorry to be more clear - Easter is on a Sunday of course and the activities and check in for the Dark Side Half start on Wednesday of that same week. Not technically the week AFTER Easter, I guess the week OF Easter, but here I see alot of people counting Easter as the week before since a lot of trips end on Sundays. sorry.

There's a room only discount for Disney Visa cardholders through 4/8/17. I'm not impressed with the discounts and hope something better comes along in the next couple of months.

I have been getting there the week before Easter, and staying after Easter Sunday that last few years, and had room discounts for the whole trip. The rooms prices are so artificially inflated because of the holiday they have to offer room discounts to get people in there. Who is going to pay $197 a night for POP :) ? Don't get me wrong they very well could kill any discounts a few days before the race weekend, but my guess is they won't. If they do I will just have to leave earlier next year...

That is interesting because rooms that we were interested in sold out for our dates well before last month. Maybe not entire resorts but rooms with the style or capacity we were looking for.

For this past spring break we booked 03/21-03/30 on February 6th with discount. That was POP though. Don't forget they limit the rooms for the discounts. This past spring we did a preferred pool view because the regular preferred weren't available for the discount. They were available at full rack rate though. I experience the same thing when we go at the end of summer and stay at WL.

Yes, we're the same as many of you -- we always go to WDW the week leading to Easter Sunday and usually leave the Monday after Easter. The past 2 years we have received a room-only discount from Disney. In fact, I changed my reservation many times last Easter because the discounts kept getting better (first the general public discount came out, then I got a PIN code, then the AP rates came out....).

I agree the full price rates are SO inflated that they almost need to offer a discount just to get rooms down to a somewhat normal amount. The last time Disney didn't offer a room only discount during Easter was back when I could still get a AAA discount. I remember checking in to our resort and it was dead, so we got upgraded. We were thrilled with the low crowds! But not so thrilled with the prices, of course.

TJA, I'm curious how you often got a room only discount, as I'm new here and need a room-only rate because I get every 4th night free with my Citi card. Indeed my Polynesian TPV non-club room on a weekend is a thousand bucks a night. Would love to lower that! What I understood is that the best thing to do is just watch posts like this and if a code comes out, call Disney and try to get the code applied, but perhaps you have better ideas.

@schalliol that's exactly what I do -- deals are reported right here in this forum within minutes and I book right away to ensure I get what I want. I'm constantly checking here for the deals. If your room is already booked through disney, you should be able to edit your reservation either online or by calling as soon as you see a deal has been released. Good luck - I hope you get a deal!

Thanks very much! Are you aware of the Citi Prestige? I still can't believe that I'm getting almost two thousand dollars back (less if I get discounts) from the two hotel stays alone. I'll be watching here for deals!
