Code watch January 2017

I originally had a package for 2 adults- 6 nights, 4 day hoppers and Dining plan. I called for the discount, and am only saving $93.66 o_O (same resort- CBR) But, i guess it's still a savings, so I need to be happy with it! Room only would not have been discounted at all by the original quote I had.

I'm assuming there was a change in room type/category that lessened the savings. Bummer.

She verified a king room- which I had requested in my original reservation. Do you think that would have made the difference?
Something just doesn't seem right about your saving if the room type didn't change. You should have saved more than that. Did you have the regular Disney dining plan in both instances. Did anything else change?

Maybe in order to get an available King the room category changed? I would check when you get your confirmation. However, I have seen other discounts that didn't look so great today.

What numbers are you basing the calculations off of for price of Ddp for 2017. Have the prices changed since 2016? I am not correcting you. I just want to know which $ to use for my comparisons. I am estimating $70/ adult/ day and $24/ child. Whattaya think?

Prices for 2017 are:
Adult - $67.33
Child - $24.22

I'm really disappointed with the discounts. Less than $600 off a $9500 reservation. Didn't have a helpful CM. Booked at the Poly right now, but thinking I need a Plan B resort. Any suggestions?

Nothing changed, other than wanting the discount. I kept the tickets and dining the same. I just wanted the discount. It's got to be the room. :ssst:

I might just call again and check to see if another agent gives you a different (better??) price

Will they ask me for my visa card number before talking to me?

I've called this morning more times than I care to share. :) Three different experiences:

1. CM checks rates without asking about Visa at all.
2. CM asks if I have a Disney Visa.
3. CM asks for the first six digits on my Disney Visa.

So it depends!

I called about 8:00. Only on hold about 3 minutes! I booked YC Room only. It was only about 20% off the rack rates I checked yesterday. She said it was 25%, BUT there were no Standard Views included in the discount, so that brought the actual discount to 20%. I think with my group, I would have saved more by booking a Mod and and taking the Dining discount, but I needed the option for late cancellation and changes since a Christmas gift surprise for my teens. Booking a Mod at 10% off would not have saved me much unless I went with a package.
WL did not have standards available and both it (!!) and BC were more than YC. POFQ was excluded, FYI.

I STILL wish I could play with the numbers online. I might have buyers remorse later and still want to switch to Mod.

You can justify the cost of YC by saying it's part of a Christmas present. :)

For me, online makes a really significant difference this time. I'm more flexible than usual for the beginning of our split stay, so I'd like to see all the different options without bothering someone to look it up. And then I'd like time to think about it. That's part of the reason for my multiple calls this morning. Get info. Think. Reconsider. Right now, we have 3 nights Movies, 1 night AKL and 5 nights BWI CL. I have no idea if it will stay that way.

In the end, the discounts aren't that great and the cost has become just plain silly. Paying $150 more per night for BWI CL than for Ritz Carlton CL in Vail seems nonsensical.

Agree with everything you said. REALLY wish I could look at all my choices too, which is why I am here looking at everyone else' choices. LOL Agree about the Christmas present part. That does help dealing with the thought of Mod vs Del. Especially with 18 and 16 year olds - the gifts are not as exciting. Also was thinking how much of a toll walking 12 hours a day takes on my body and it will be super easy to stroll to YC for a mid day break while boys stay in Epcot if they want. :) I have booked 2 early Epcot breakfasts too - so Yea!

Once you call and change your reservation, you can go online and see what is available with the PSD and change your resort

Are you booked in the CR wing? I wonder if only Tower is available? I love CR but generally won't pay for the Tower up charge anymore.
I had a rez for the garden wing and was just trying to get a discount on that. I want to play around with numbers online so I might just wait until Monday. I've also booked with undercover tourist before since they sometimes have rooms available that Disney site doesn't. I already have a magic band and wouldn't be upset if I can't get a dining plan so I might have to go that route.

I called back and got a VERY patient and helpful CM. She ran a new reservation at rack rate, and according to her prices, I am saving $363.30. Her rack rate is not the price I had booked originally. Even with the $200 deposit, I still don't come to her total.
She did say there was a room only Visa discount- and she tried running that, but it increased my total by $200.
So I guess when I say I saved $363.30, it sounds so much better!! :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:yay::yay:

I don't understand this. Where can you do this? I booked RO and when I go to My Reservations, it just shows me a summary without nightly rates or an option to see SPD...? TIA

And that savings is exactly 45% off the cost of dining - in line with other data points. Congrats!! Good to call again - glad it's fixed for you.

Once you have a "VISA" reservation on MDE you can go to change reservation and possibly look at other options. Very interesting development there...

So agree regarding Christmas and the gifts for teens. Always fun to find a travel-related gift for teens. We also have three boys - 17, 16 and 9. At least the teenagers can enjoy a couple more years of "helping" their little brother play with his toys on Christmas morning. :)

Really happy for you with the YC booking! It's so convenient with teenagers.

Really strange - I just made a Visa reservation and changed a rack rate reservation to a Visa reservation. Both only allow "cancel" online with no option to "change." Boo.
