We returned from our first stay at the WL yesterday and I have to say, it is now tied with AKL as our favorite resort! I had a feeling I would fall in love with it and have been trying to get DH to try it for the last couple years but he was resistant; well, he loves it now just as much as I do! I posted a few days ago that we booked a standard room and were put in 5016 with a wonderful view of the castle, the Contemporary and Wishes; still have to figure out how to post pics which I've done before but just can't remember at the moment :scratchin The resort is just so peaceful.......construction had no impact whatsoever on our stay. Yes, if we looked down from our balcony it was all mud and equipment, but the view straight out made up for it and even without that view the construction view wouldn't have dampened our enjoyment. Excellent food and service at the Territory Lounge and Roaring Forks was good, too. Even got a towel puppy and rose! I can't see our room and those with similar views staying standard view at a standard view rate unfortunately but I'm so happy we were able to stay in one and we will most definitely return to the WL in the future :goodvibes

This worked out well for you and now your DH loves it!

KOOK- looking forward to your live TR! Safe travels and enjoy this new adventure! I hope that you experience lots of pixie dust, magic, and anything that will sweep away even the slightest negative apprehensions about some of the changes there lately. For me, the hardest part would be not having my DD with me to talk to immediately about what we're doing, so I would probably try to keep some kind of photo journal to share with her with my thoughts and experiences during the trip. However, I do think that doing whatever you want to do is going to be fun!!! Enjoy!

Thank you, @bluecastle. I know I will be doing a lot of texting to DD and since DH doesn't like texting and he's at work, I'll be chatting with him in the evening. DD is good about indulging me in my many random observations.

I'm going Thursday for my first visit to WL, and I'm not sure how I will make it to then.
Can I ask for a live tr on the busses? I am concerned about making an 8am Adr at ak. People have suggested taking uber but I'm not sure with one child definitely needing a car seat.
Enjoy your trip.

I won't be staying at WL, but the easiest thing to do is to take the early ADR bus to DAK. They are reliable and free!

We just returned from an 8/24-9/2 visit we had CV room first floor which at first I was not happy with but husband LOVED! Right out the side door for the pool, boat, etc. I booked a bounce back trip for next year and chose a standard view for next time after speaking with someone staying in one. They told me of the great view of the fireworks at MK. Truthfully, construction noise was at a minimum not to mention it was kind of cool to see what was happening. Btw if anyone is interested they are also filling in the old River Country pool at Fort Wilderness.

Yippee for the BB! Rumor has it that it's being filled with concrete so that water will no longer be a viable breeding ground for mosquitoes which may carry Zika. And, since I'm on the topic, repellent is being given out for free now and Disney Parks and Resorts.

Can anyone who's been recently/there now/going soon please let me know - I know the main pool is open through the construction, but is the splash pad open as well? Of all things, was the main reason my little guy begged us to switch to the Wilderness Lodge. It didn't occur to me to ask...

Thanks!

It's open so no worries.

In a little over 12 hours I'll be touching down at MCO and heading home to the Lodge.

Hopefully I'll get a cat nap in, before we have to get up at 3:30am to get to the airport.

It's a really good tired and you won't feel tired at all once you arrive. On the plane, however, is another story.

Just got onto the DME bus only has like 7 people on it. Apparently they had a bus breakdown. We have to make a stop at Saratoga Springs for a couple on the bus. Hopefully that's after all the MK resorts

Well our order is;

Riverside
Saratoga
Wilderness
Poly

Sorry for the enormous picture.

Absolutely my pleasure!!!!! I love taking pictures. I get made fun of by friends and family for always having a camera in my hand.....until they ask me for copies.
We just returned to our room after watching the Wishes fireworks. If you walk past the OFC to the end of the hallway, you can open up the wood shutters on the windows and get a perfect view of the fireworks.
I also have been trying to post the Electric Water Parade, which I filmed last night, but it won't upload to the comment box. Possibly, a 5 minute video might be too much to post. It compresses, but won't go that one more step of posting. I'm open to suggestion.....

Thank you so much for your update and pictures. I chuckled about your having to 'get down' as my adult daughter kept getting scolded taking construction pictures of the new Fantasyland while standing on boulders.

I own at BCV but Wilderness is really my all time favorite resort. Every trip (often), I go there to 'breathe the air' inside and out.

Standard.

With the construction they are doing they removed a ton of trees which opened up a direct MK view.

Your view is amazing! Would you mind sharing your room number? We'll be there in a few weeks and can't wait.

Many of us prefer to not post exact room numbers online until after we depart. For a general idea, it is a room on a fairly high floor on the North side of the North wing. A rough estimate would be an even numbered room in about the x020 -x034 range, probably on the 5th or sixth floor, so something like 6020-6034. With the construction a lot of trees have been removed, so these formerly Woods View rooms have nice MK views. That whole section, all the way out to x004 should have nice MK visibility now. The x042 to x066 rooms that have always been standard view should also have a decent MK view, but they have the loading area below them so aren't quite as desirable.

We will be staying here for the first time with our BB offer we got over the summer and I'm super excited!! My only concern is the transportation. We will be going Aug 13-Aug 23. Is the transportation really that bad to other parks or is it managable?

We love WL transportation. Approximate travel times are listed on this thread here. The buses are on par with other Disney resorts, with the exception of WL to/from MK, which is a super fast 5 min trip. There is usually an extra stop after WL on the way to Epcot, HS, AK, or Disney Springs which is usually at the Grand Floridian, but can be at Fort Wilderness. The boats are a fun option too, although they take a bit longer than buses to MK. Besides the WL to MK boats, we also enjoy the boats that loop on Bay Lake between WL, CR, and FW.

Went to MK in the morning, and apparently they were having an issue with Magic Bands at Sunshine Tree Terrace and everything was free. Got 2 Citrus Swirls for free!

Then the DGF had an issue with her magic band and FP+. We used 3 FP+, and went to make a fourth, and it wouldn't let me add another one for her outside the MK. It only registered that 2 were used, but my 3 were completed. She was able to keep adding FP+ in the MK, but wouldn't let me add one for her at another park. We used FP+ for Speedway, Jungle Cruise, Philharmagic, and Buzz. But for some reason the last FP she made never took itself off, so was able to keep swapping it out for a new one at MK.

Yes, of course! Thank you.

We were too tired to venture into MK at night for Wishes, so we watched it from our balcony.

This is a great pic and makes me want to request similar view. Was the camera in telephoto mode for this or are the fireworks really that easy to see from your room? I know you don't want to give out exact room number but we are staying club level and I think there are club rooms on each floor. If you walk by any club level deluxe rooms (I think on each floor at ends), would appreciate any hints as to what to request that might have similar view.
