Thanks for all the great up to date information! We are staying at ASMu in January for the first time. You answered most of my questions.

Jazz is Preferred now. The changed happened about 2 months ago maybe.

ETA: I first reported it in post #1040 of this thread. I also wondered how long before ASSp was mostly Preferred. Since then they have made the Touchdown bldgs Preferred.

That explains why I didn't see Jazz while doing online check in. However, I booked standard and Calypso showed up as a choice?

Hey guys,

So I went to do my online check in the other day and I was putting in my room requests, and I noticed the Jazz and Country sections were missing. Is there a reason for that?

Also, I know the Calypso section is preferred, and I have a standard room, but are all of the Calypso rooms standard? Because that was an option for me to request, so I was just curious if maybe there were standard rooms somewhere in that area?

If not, what is the best section to request for a standard room? Broadway?

Thanks! :)

Country was available for me. Jazz was not.

Can anyone tell me if there are USB outlets int he rooms here? some hotels have them built into the outlets not sure if disney hotels do.

I have reservations for standard rooms, but (like the posters mentioned above), Calypso showed up as an option for my check-in (Jazz and Country did not). For those of you who have stayed at ASMu before, would you take Calypso over Broadway or Rock, if it really is available? I know that it's closer to transportation and the main building, but I also worry that it might be noisier. We don't mind a couple extra minutes of walking if it means more peace and quiet.

We were in Calypso facing the parking lot instead of the pool, and we never had an issue with noise.

First time at ASMu with a rental car. I'm in a standard location room.

When I do online checkin can I request "close to parking lot"?

Or should I call and ask that to be added to my reservation?

Just hoping to be in a room at the end of whatever building I'm in that's closest to the parking lot.

Thanks!

We are staying in a family suite 4/9-4/15. We stayed at AOA in the family suites before but the kids weren't big fans of the food court. The menu looks like there are better choices at ASMU.

We are coming to the end of our trip and are in Calypso Building 10 facing the parking lot and as whitney37354 mentioned we also have not had any issues with noise. I really appreciate how close the building is to dining and transportation.

Honestly, I think any noise issues would be if you faced the pool. That's where you have tons of squealing children.

Did either of you reserve a standard room, or did you request preferred? Since Calypso comes up as an option for me (we reserved standard), I'm just curious.

My package was a preferred room with free dining. Last year I booked a standard room and was put in the Rock building. I asked during check in last year if Calypso was an option and the CM I spoke with said no as it was a preferred room and I'd only paid for a standard room.
Our room in Rock was great, very quiet and a nice view of lots of trees. I found the walk from Rock to the dining hall and transportation in the August heat to be overwhelming (I'm from the north and apparently very 'delicate' when it comes to humid heat, lol). This year I didn't realize I'd booked a preferred room but was very happy once I did realize it.

One thing I was really surprised with this year at ASMu was the sheer number of folks not respecting the smoking policy of the resort which is to smoke in designated smoking areas. People smoked in public areas like the pool, in front of Calypso, Jazz, walkways as soon as they left the dining hall, causeways on Calypso, waiting for the bus in front of the main building, waiting for the bus returning to the resort- someone was even smoking by the kiddie pool. By the end of my stay I felt warm feelings towards the smokers I saw smoking in the designated smoking areas as they showed respect for the other guests, especially those who have respiratory issues. I knew it would be weird to go up and thank them, but I thought about it:thanks::-)
I am hesitant to post this but thought it would be helpful to prepare folks. I am unsure I would have booked this resort knowing it was essentially a 'smoking' resort now. But perhaps other resorts are experiencing the same thing?

That particular issue is definitely not unique to All Star Music.

Just booked for a couple of nights during Thanksgiving week in a family suite. I'm excited to be returning to ASMu! It's been awhile since we have stayed here but we have very fond memories from our previous stays. I hope the magic is still alive and well. We stayed at POP last Christmas and had an amazing stay. I think it will be fun to have family suite and not have to worry about connecting rooms. We lucked out at Christmas and got them, but we didn't want to risk it this time around.
