If you watch college football.....what teams (s) do you root for?

I know I'm in the vast minority, but as much as I love football, I absolutely do not follow college football. First, I grew up in Philadelphia. There are no major college football teams in the area, so it gets almost no attention. Second, I just have a major issue with the pressure put on these kids/young men who are supposed to be at college to get an education. Yes, I know that's a very old fashion notion and not the reality of it. But all the gambling, TV exposure, media, etc...on these kids, the overwhelming majority of which will never have a cup of coffee in the NFL, is just wrong in my (admittedly minority) opinion. I'm not saying college football shouldn't exist, I'm all for it. I just don't like the insane attention it...and college basketball...get. I think it's a bad thing overall.

Having moved to Atlanta a few years ago, I'm now in an area where college football, and high school football, are king. I don't fit in well...

Besides, I went to Temple University. They won maybe 5 games total in the 4 years I was there... :crutches:

GO DAWGS!!!!!

Just as I do every year, I enter September with unbelievable (some say delusional) levels of optimism for what the season holds. I can not wait to attend my first game of the season in 3 weeks (UGA vs Mizzou in Columbia), and then to fly home to Athens for two other big conference games later in the season. My mom and sister will be with me for all three games, it's a family affair!! Gameday in Athens is practically a family reunion

I root for all SEC teams, esp in non-conference games. And for SEC games, whoever is playing Florida ;)

I get that. I was raised to be a rabid college football fan, but my career has focused on a non-sports side of higher ed and I deal with a lot of cognitive dissonance during football season between my love of the sport and what it could be, and my disgust with what the NCAA has done to the concept of the student-athlete. I'd like to see some massive changes, but nothing can stop me from bleeding Red & Black in the fall, my parents just instilled it too deeply ;p

I tend to agree. I live in NJ, just outside of NYC, and while I know a lot of people who like college football, there's not that crazed fan base for any 1 team. Pro, yes, college, no.

That said, my husband likes Notre Dame, and my son likes LSU.

Life-long USC Trojan fan.

College football is my second favorite sport behind college basketball.

I'm not real pleased with the state of Trojan football these days, but maybe there'll be some improvement this year.

Fight On!!

I'm a rabid Florida Gators fan and have been since I was about 12. That said, I will root for any SEC team (I used to say any SEC team other than Alabama, but I've softened on that in the last few years). Notre Dame and UCF hold special places in my heart too.
