Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I have a Timex watch, similar to the one posted below. It comes with a backlit dial, which is activated by gently pushing the stem. Since the clocks were removed from the rooms, I just place the watch on the nightstand at bedtime, which makes it easy to check the time, whenever I awake. It's also great to wear at the parks to easily check the time, whether it be in a dark theater or any other setting with dimmed lighting. BTW - it appears the watch is water resistant, as well. As the band is leather, it's easy to punch an extra hole to accommodate smaller wrists.

Even though I plan on again wearing this watch during my next trip to WDW, I purchased a small travel alarm clock, which weighs only a couple of ounces. It will probably be one of those objects that just stays inside my bag, after I return from a trip - all ready to go for next time. :)
Timex was the brand I had that lasted almost 17 yrs. So I'm focusing on that brand. Will see if my local Walmart has the one you linked. Thx

Thx for the reply! Yay! about the BC bus stop!
Ugh to the no clocks. My wrist watch that I wear 24/7 chose this week to die....16 & 3/4 yrs old RiP old pal. And I'm having a heck of a time finding a water resistant replacement bc I have these ridiculously small wrists and nothing fits and an avg size watch face looks like it's eating my wrist. So I'd better pack a small clock so at least I'll be aware of the time IN the room.

I know in the Villas you can request a clock and have no reason to think you can't do the same for the hotel. Call housekeeping.

Hi all, we are about to end our 5 night stay here at the BC. We check out tomorrow and check into the Polynesian for another 5 days. We are in room 3610, which is very convenient to the Marketplace and pool area, we're pretty close to the elevators. The room and resort are very nice, pool area is great. We checked in on Wednesday and unfortunately our room wasn't ready until after 4pm, so we waited a few hours in the lobby, since we got here at 2. Tonight we had to wait 40 minutes for a bus to animal kingdom when we arrived to the bus stop at 3:35pm. We also had to wait 45 minutes for a bus back to the resort from the AK. People in line were really complaining with many of them leaving the line and going onto the Boardwalk/dolphin bus when it arrived. We saw 3 Carribbean beach buses and at least 2 buses come and leave to all of the resorts around pickup at AK. Don't know what was wrong today with the buses to/from AK for the beach club? We had a rental car before today, so I am not sure if the buses were really that good to the other areas. I also think the BC needs to expand it's food court (Marketplace). Today at lunchtime they had 2 women working for sandwiches/pizza at the Marketplace and the line got long. I just think for a deluxe resort they should have a bit of a better selection and a bigger area where people can get their food and leave. The line moved very slow. The resort itself is beautiful and in a great location. Thanks for the tip on room 1501. It was super helpful when we wanted to stay out of the sun/heat. The weather here this week has been absolutely great, hasn't gone over 90 and yesterday we were in epcot and the weather was great. Very surprised at how nice the weather has been.

When my DD was younger she got sprinkled with more pixie dust in various situations. As she's gotten older, especially because she looks a lot older than she is (right now at 13, people mistake her for 18 or 19), I explained to her that she probably wouldn't get as much pixie dust. It's just kind of the way it is. She still gets a Happy Birthday occasionally, when we go for her birthday, from CMs but rarely a cupcake or anything else. But to make it special for her, I order something from Disney Florist to be delivered to the room & have them sign it from Mickey. Last year she confessed she knows the gifts have really been from us. LOL.

I agree, it's best not to expect something because then the child is disappointed if they don't get anything. It's best not to set them up for a letdown.

Love this picture!!!

That may be the first time I have seen or even heard of someone using the court. Has it been busy during your trip?

::yes::

We saw the same people play earlier on in the day but apart from that DH saw a couple of people playing baseball.

We've had a very busy day today celebrating DDs 12th birthday. Breakfast at Cape May where DD was pleased to get a birthday cupcake and card, followed by a very full day at Magic Kingdom. When we left our room this morning another guest just along the corridor asked if the hotel had decorated for us. No - it's just us mad Brits (see the photo below).

We just missed a bus (there are no signs on the back of the bus as you approach them at the Convention Centre). The next bus had been to the Swolphin, picked us up at Yacht, went to Beach and filled up. We then went to Boardwalk and someone got off! This was at 9.40am.

We had dinner at Beasts Castle and DD managed to loose a tooth! She did get done celebratory grey stuff and a card from Belke and the Beast.

Now back in the room and we have a towel animal.

Dee, I can't believe how much work you do on this site! I just looked at the Be Our Guest list and saw my name along with the cute kissing emojis that you put for our anniversary. Then I saw YOUR upcoming stay in October and YOUR 30th anniversary! Congratulations! Wow, that is an accomplishment! When I was in my twenties I thought people who had been married 30 years were so old, but now, as I am sure you know, we are actually quite young! Really still kids at heart! My DH and I honeymooned at the Polynesian. When we get to WDW next month we are spending two nights at the Poly CL, but then moving to our favorite area, Crescent Lake! We have stayed BC, YC and BWI many times and we love them all. I was able to secure the best rate at YC and we are just so excited. Can't wait for Food and Wine!!

Awww! Thanks for your kind words. They really brightened my day!

Congrats on your anniversary milestone. My husband and I got married fairly young. We started dating as sophomores in high school and got married before our senior year at UNH. We had a two-part honeymoon. Montreal in the summer for a few days, then Disney during our January school break. Offsite somewhere. We are so excited to try out YC to celebrate our 30th!

party:

Dee - Disney runs a special bus service on race mornings. The buses pick up at each resort for both runners and spectators who need to get to the race area before the park opens. Disney posts signs near the International Gateway and in the lobbies of the Epcot resorts, warning people that they will not be able to walk through Epcot prior to park opening.

Thanks for that info. I have updated the IG posting on Page 1.

:thumbsup2

I hate to ask this but please take me off the BOG list for Oct. Hubby has to speak at a conference that week and have to cancel our trip. Not sure when we can reschedule :guilty: Instead of being in a magical place on my 50th, I will be at a legal conference - ugh.

Sorry to hear that, but hope you are able to reschedule and plan a super fantastic trip soon.

Hi Everyone!
I've been catching up on the thread in anticipation of our BC stay for Food and Wine at the end of September. It's the one last "event" my husband and I have never done, so we are really looking forward to to it!

:wave2:

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

Just a quick question, I checked beginning of post for BC gift shop items. I noticed diapers, but it looked like just size 3. Do they carry size 5 or 6? Is there a phone number to call to find out? Don't want to take up room packing extra if I can pick them up there. Thanks for your help.

Just looked at one of my past Marketplace receipts and found the following info:

Merchandise Guest Services:
1-877-560-6477
email merchandise.Guest.Services@DisneyParks.com
www.disneyparks.com/store

The Store Number for Beach Club Marketplace is 4031.

Hopefully one of these avenues can help you. Will post this in the Marketplace thread.

ETA: just clicked on the website link, and it was for The Disney Store more than Stores at Disney.

Alright, stupid question - and I probably know the answer but...

We've got our trip to the BC all set for October - 20-26. My parents just decided over the weekend they wanted to join us for the back end of our trip, and for the first time ever they want to "upgrade" and stay at the BC with us, but sadly a call to the reservations number lead to my fear this late in the game - nothing is available for their time (Oct 22-26) except a 2 bdrm suite for $1600/night. I assume there's no "waiting list" or anything right, they'd just have to call and check every day to see if there's any cancellations?

I'm sure this question is buried in this thread a bunch of times, but I'm having trouble weeding through the 650 pages today with very limited time I have available. Can someone give me quick advice?

We are staying 1 night at the YC on 9/12 standard view. It is solely a pool day and I have 3 kids 9, 7, and 4. Can anyone tell me what would be a "good" room request for standard with good access to stormalong bay but still decent room view?? We won't be in the room too much, but DH and I like to use the balcony to sit and relax after kiddos go to bed. I would like to call in our request soon.

Thanks so much!!!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack... I really haven't checked in on the DIS since my trip a few weeks ago. Now with school, work, and life I just have little time for my SAB peeps. I have tried to lurk, and after staying at BWI with the construction we missed BC terribly. We were able to come swim at SAB one day due to an unexpected maintenance incident at Luna Park :) My TA was able to book two nights for DH and I to come to F&W. I thought I'd be at CSR or Pop but we will be at BC GV CL 10/28-30. Short but sweet, I can't wait, and my FP are done as it is already my 60 day dance! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I was wanting to tag on a night to the end of our upcoming stay, and when I called, the rep suggested calling right around the time that a final payment would be due for people? She said lots of cancellations then so it's the optimal time to pick up an opening. So that would be 30 days out from check-in date. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.....

Maybe you could book them somewhere else with the hope of moving the reservations as it gets closer?? Good luck

Yup, went ahead and booked them at Caribbean Beach for now - and will keep calling with the hope something will open up at BC or YC. I'll keep trying, thanks for the 30-day window advice!

And the good news is... I just did my back to school shopping and stocked up on erasable ink for the BOG list!

You're there!

We are here now in a standard view room, and it's a good job we aren't that fussed about the view, as its of a roof!

I had to speak to concierge the other night, and they had a map of what room numbers are in each category - it LOOKS like the only standard view rooms all fall in the X225-X241 numbers, so they will all have similar views, and in our case, they are literally as far away from the elevators as you can get!

But- we got a king sized bed, so it's not all bad!

I'd just request near the elevator and near the lobby, and don't worry about the view from the room or easy access to SAB- everyone accesses it the same way, it's outside... Not going to make much difference :)

Okay, so we've changed again. :-) We're now in a BCV 1 bdrm for the same dates (Dec 30 - Jan 8). With the holiday crowds, we figured the club lounge would be packed, and the 1 bdrm actually comes in a bit cheaper than club level, and it guarantees us a king bed, which for us is a big deal, especially for an anniversary trip.

:-)

Ah, now I see why you liked my comment about erasable ink.

Got it!

:thumbsup2

Checked out this past Wednesday...no clocks. Bus stop has not moved. We found the MK buses very crowded in the morning and walked to YC to catch them. Since the bus stops at YC first, it was empty there and we were able to get on more quickly.

Thanks so much for the info and :welcome: to posting on the thread!

*Snip*

As a pp stated earlier, the mosquitos and flies were in full force this trip and most especially on our balcony near the wooded area. Bring bug spray!

Again, thanks for your review. I just wanted to comment on this.

I don't recall being bothered by mosquitoes while at Disney in the past and in fact, my husband just asked me yesterday if they spray at the resort. I thought yes, but didn't know for sure. Yesterday, Disney announced that they will be providing insect repellent in resort rooms and in the theme parks and Disney Springs.

Here's the rundown on the bug spray being handed out at Disney parks and resorts in Florida provided by the World of Yesterday, Tomorrow and Fantasy website/Facebook page, August 29, 2016:

"Resort guests will receive a bottle in their resort room on check-in day.

There are stations set up throughout the parks and Disney Springs where guests (both onsite and offsite) can spray down with the spray. The bottles at those stations stay at those stations, guests cannot take them when they leave the bug-spray station."

Hi,

Am I correct in thinking the Beach Club Villa rooms are all currently being refurbished?

:welcome: to the thread.

I believe the BCV room refurbishment is finished or is very close to completion.

Unfortunately the shower curtain isn't available, just some bedding, bath products, robes and cushions.

Thank you so much for checking and reporting back!

:goodvibes

There is one on ebay right now

Was it a shower curtain with shells (BCV) or this one:

Check out this link for the shower curtain in action. Warning: some things can't be unseen. Don't say I didn't warn you...

Hi, currently at BCV. One of the two elevators was out of service with a shed built around it for two days last week. Our room is on the 4th floor right near the elevators and across from the laundry room. We like the location except when they decided to breakdown the shed around the elevator at 11:45pm a few nights ago. I understand that they wanted it back in service as soon as possible, but we were woken up by loud hammering and banging.

That is not ok!

I hope you mentioned something to resort management because under no circumstances should a guest have to hear construction (or destruction) at that hour!

:headache:

Correct there is no waiting list at Disney.
Packages must be paid in full at 30 days and room only bookings are due on arrival.

Standard view rooms are views of the roof. At the YC there are also some dreaded "Dumpster Views". I would request "near main elevators". Access to SAB is basically through the main lobby.
