Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

We did the exact same thing. Love YC. Stayed there last 3 trips but were curious about the refurbed rooms at BC and figured this would be our only chance as we're sure we will be back at YC next summer AFTER the reno. Things we love about the YC is that the bus stop pickup is first and bus stop is closer to YC lobby than BC's stop is to BC lobby; we usually sit on the kiddie pool side of Stormalong Bay (so YC is usually closer to SAB); the fact that all rooms are full balconies; and we love the overall feel of the YC lobby, though full disclosure is that we have only stayed at YC during non-convention times, so we aren't sharing with conventioners. We are getting VERY nervous about our rooms at the BC, but know we will be back at YC next year in a new room and can now always say we tried the BC. Fingers crossed. :)

I agree with all this, love YC, but we choose BC as our bounceback last year for next week because of the new rooms!! We have stayed at BC twice before and we like YC better because of the bus stop and full balconies!

Thank you!!! Does this apply to only BCV or is this referring to all DVC properties?

:goodvibes

BCV was the odd ball DVC where there were some dedicated 2 BRs that had 1 queen bed and a sleeper sofa and some had the 2 queen beds. At all other DVC the dedicated 2brs always had 2 queen beds in the second bedroom so this makes BCV consistent with the rest.

Hi Everyone-- we're in the final countdown to our arrival at the BC!:dancer: Quick question-- if we want to catch the welcome show at MK (9:00am park opening), what time do we need to be at the bus stop?

I would be at the bus stop by 8:00 AM. Worst case, assume a 10 - 15 minute wait for bus, 10 - 15 minute ride, and 5 minute walk to security checkpoint. Gives you enough time to comfortably get situated for the welcome show.

What time has the opening show been starting lately?

I believe when it is (edit): extra magic hours, the show is only done for that opening.

Generic :welcome: to everyone who has joined the thread recently.

I'll go through the past several pages later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Have a great day, everyone!

Is there a glitch on disneys website? I am looking to book two rooms at BC for early March and nothing is coming up available- even club rooms. That can't be right, can it?

I would try to wait a bit, and try later. OTAs, such as Priceline, are showing availability the first weekend of March 2017, while Disney's site shows no availability. It looks like they may be updating their system.

I know it's not "lately" but when we were there in January, we saw it on a regular opening day and an extra magic hours day. It went off about 10 - 15 minutes before the hour. I know you said early magic hours above, but wasn't sure if that was the pay for entry option you meant or the extra magic hours for resort guests?

Agreed. We always try to be at the bus stop by 8a for rope drop, regardless of resort (obviously we've never stayed at a monorail resort).

Since Swan and Dolphin are close, just wanted to give anyone that wants to visit their signature restaurants a heads up. Il Mulino, Shula's, Bluezoo and Kumino all have a 20% off your entire bill, except alcohol. Go to Orlandocoupons.com and click on dining. Expires 12/31/16. So glad I found it. We are wanting to go to Shula's and might go to Il Mulino's or Bluezoo also. Anyone try these places?

Thanks for letting us know about this. I'll add the info to the dining post.

So excited to be coming back to Yacht Club in 2 weeks! August 29 till September 2. We were supposed to stay again last year, but then switched to Wilderness Lodge. This will be a non park trip, gonna enjoy the resort and pool and see other things in Orlando after our Universal visit. We are surprising my sister-in-law who will be at Beach Club on their first family Disney trip, can't wait!

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the list.

What a great surprise for your SIL.

Enjoy your trip to the "Theme Park Which Must Not Be Named" and have a fabulous stay at the resort!

Hi all. Staying at BC for the first time in Jan over the marathon weekend. We were convinced to take a water view by our travel agent, but I've heard conflicting arguments for wether it's worth it over say a garden view. Anybody got any experience with this? Does a water view guarantee a decent view of lake, or could it be mainly of the pool. Apologies as I'm sure this has been asked before.

Cheers

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

I believe others have replied that a water view could overlook the pool. The garden views are lovely and some have a side view of the water. Given the choice between waterview and saving money, I'll take the cash!

::yes::

Hi
We are returning to the Yacht Club next summer. We have a garden view room booked. Last time I requested high floor on the lake side of trhe building and we were upgraded to an amazing lake view. Thinking I won't be that lucky next time. I was thinking of requesting overlooking the wedding gazebo, high floor. Is this a reasonable request?
We were at the very far end of the Yacht Club last time so I'm not really bothered about proximity to the lobby but I would like a nice view. Upgrading is not an option either as the cost for our 15 night stay is well and truly over our budget.
Thanks for any advice.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

Totally a reasonable request.

:cool2:

Soooooo......:rolleyes1

Call me the king of changing things at the last minute after thinking and rethinking......(That's what I get for having the summer off!)

Dee?

Would you switch our dates from Aug 17-22 at YC to Aug 17-22 at BC? :beach:

Will do!

It's time! It's time!!!

You must be over the moon excited.

Have a fantastic trip!

:woohoo:

Please add us back to the BOG list. Went ahead and booked for next year July 22-30. Such a long way off, but I'm happy to have a new reservation booked.

:welcome: back!

Sure will. Which resort? BC/YC/BCV?

:thumbsup2

Sooooo we are at MK today, and I do believe our smooth sailing and luck just ran out!

My youngest DD just dropped her iPhone in the water at "It's a Small World" ride :sad2:. She's in tears and I'm ready to pull my hair out!! Thankfully she has insurance although the deductible will cost HER a pretty penny....off to try & find a T-Mobile store...ugh!

So sorry to hear that.

Hope you were able to work everything out.

:(

natebenma....can you add me to the BOG list? I will be staying at BC, Dec 3 - 10, 2016, with my two sisters. No special trip, just going for some sunshine and to see the decorations at Christmas. Thanks.

Happy to add you to the list.

Sounds like a fun, festive trip!

:cheer2:

I think it was only BCV that distinguished between the dedicated 2-bedrooms with 2 queens and without. As far as I know, all other DVC dedicated 2-bedrooms already have 2 queens in the second bedroom. And now with the renos, BCV does as well.

:welcome: to posting on this thread and thank you so much for the clarification.

Hi Folks, booked the Beach Club again for 2017. Been twice before, once at Club Level but we have never actually booked anything other than a standard room. On both occasions we have been very lucky and had a room with a view over looking the lake toward the boardwalk and the second just above the main entrance again facing the boardwalk. This time, we have booked a Garden View and wonder if anyone has any tips on where the good or not so good rooms are. I'm not even sure what part of the building the Garden View Rooms are situated. Only 'vital' request would be a full balcony as we are staying for 14 nights.

Thanks in advance.

:welcome:

Is your 2017 booking (which month?) club level or regular room?

:cool1:

I think at club level, most if not all of the GV rooms overlook the back entrance (lakeside) courtyard. A really lovely view, one of my husband's favorites for people watching and I believe all BC CL GV rooms have full balconies.

If it is just a regular room, the garden views are as described above (could be full or smaller balcony though), the volleyball courtyard or a woods view near EPCOT.

We have a top secret map of the BC obtained in a covert operation showing the view categories and a few other attributes of the rooms. Check out Post 8, Beach Club Resort on Page 1 of this thread for the link. That will give you an idea of some of the possible rooms in your category.

:magnify:

20 more days til we are at the Beach Club!!!

We are foregoing the dining plan this trip and want to eat breakfast and some lunches back at the room to save money. So far I've got fruit, cheese, peanut butter and jelly, any other ideas on things that we would be able to put together in our room. Nothing to heat up since there aren't microwaves in the rooms right? We are in a standard room. Thanks so much!

As another poster indicated, cereal (you can purchase milk at the Marketplace and keep it in the fridge) and granola bars are great choices. Pop*Tarts if you can eat those without toasting them.

:scratchin

Hi there, We will be at BC CL this time next week celebrating mine and my husband's birthday and enjoying a last trip before our 10 year old son goes back to school.

We are arriving 8/19 and departing 8/23. We were at YC in June and became passholders while on our trip so coming back to enjoy more Stormalong Bay!

Please add us to the Be Our Guest list!

:welcome:

Will do!

Yeah, poor choice of terminology. I meant extra magic hours. I usually specify "early extra magic hours" to distinguish from the PM ones, but I left out a word. I edited my post.

:goodvibes

Correct- on an extra magic 8 am open, they do the show around 7:40 am.
On a "normal" morning, it's at 8:40 for a 9 am open.

I don't think they do a special show for the paid event...

Thank you!

:thumbsup2
