If you haven't been, you must go.

The Tree of Life is gorgeous with its new Awakenings. The new street entertainment is lively and fun. EE at night just seems more exhilarating.

And the best part? The park was nearly empty during the last hour. I had an hour and fifteen minutes in the park from 9:45 until 11 pm one night. In that period, I met Minnie and Mickey (four minute wait), rode EE twice (no wait) and rode KS (I was the only person in the queue. I will repeat. I was the ONLY person in the queue. When I got to the truck there were about six other people waiting for their nighttime safari. I was like, "This is my Disney dream!"). I also watched Tree of Life Awakenings twice and had several photopass photos made.

I took the kids back another night and we watched The Jungle Book show. It was worth watching, though not something I need to do again. The first show was about full, but we could tell from walking by that the second show was less than half full. My older daughter rode EE twice in a row with almost no wait. We all rode Kali three times in a row with no wait. We then went to Dinoland, which we practically had to ourselves. My older daughter rode PW three times in a row without even having to get off. My younger daughter and I rode TS twice without getting off and could have ridden it as many times as we wanted. We went to the Boneyard and there was one other family in the entire place.

While it was an awesome experience, I don't see how Disney can afford to keep up AK hours until 11 pm if more people do not go. It seemed to me that there were more CMs than guests in that last hour.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out. I was talking to some folks on the bus on the way to HS one night and they did not even know that AK was open until 11. I was talking about it and a woman kept saying, "You mean Magic Kingdom is open until 11." I think she thought I was confused. She did not seem to believe that AK was open until 11.

We had a great time, but I hope more people will attend at night so Disney will keep up the late hours. AK turned out to be our favorite park this trip because of the late hours and the low crowds.

I am so excited to see AK after dark this trip. I never give that park the justice it deserves because it is always so beastly hot there! I'm so sad to see they are taking Dinosaur down during our August trip though! I am MOST excited that my kids will finally get to play in the Boneyard, ha ha ha! ITs always to hot to stand it previously.

Thanks for the report. Our trip is in October so I hope there are some late hours. I'm really bummed that Dinosaur won't quite be open yet when we are planning to go, but maybe it will be a soft opening in the evening? I was disappointed in the Safari ride the last time, so I hope we have a better experience.

I'm going in November for a very short trip (2 nights) so I am afraid that even if they have some limited late nights, I will miss them. Oh well, there is always next time!

Completely agree! AK is fantastic at night. Such a totally different feel with the lights on and the street performers are great. EE is a must do. On our June trip it was walk on after 9:00 PM

We had a great time in AK at night too. We did it two or three times in our recent trip. Like you said, Jungle Book was good, but not a must see. It was just OK. But there were so many positives to seeing AK at night.

1. I think that for whatever reason, AK is the hottest of all the parks during the daytime. It's just brutal. Seeing it at night made it SO much more tolerable.
2. The street parties are entertaining. We didn't see all of it, but did see a lot of it. It's interesting how many people just go right by it and don't even stop to watch. It puts a fun vibe in the park
3. Yes, the park is eerily empty after 7:30pm. Like you, we tried the safari one time around 10:00pm or so. We walked through the entire queue without seeing another sole. When we got to loading, the CMs were waiting for us to help fill up a truck. There were 3 other empty trucks behind ours just waiting for people. The downside is it's really hard to see anything in the dark. The ride is much better at dusk. The park is emptying out quickly, and the line is short then...as in less than 10 minutes. You see much more during that time.

So nice to hear! And love hearing it's uncrowded in the evenings. Looking forward to spending the night there next month and the more nights there again in Nov. Especially looking forward to the Tree of Life Awakenings, street entertainment (which we will definitely stop to watch) and the JB show, even with the mediocre reviews :goodvibes

We did PM EMH at AK in 2009. It was AMAZING. Before that I really didn't care for the park but that night made me think differently. EE at night was something else.

AK is so HOT that we always leave at noon and we don't go back. My kids really enjoy AK but not the heat. Next time we go I plan on dedicating a morning and evening to the park.

I always loved AK at night and would go when I saw it was open past dark. I went 3 times in the first few weeks they were doing this and it was so crowded it took away some of the magic I felt before. While it is nice to hear it died down, it seems they may not be able to keep it up if crowds don't increase.

But they spent a lot of money on the changes that need to be seen after dark. Would they just scrap that? Especially with Avatar opening in a year of so. That area is made to be seen at night.

I felt they should have opened AK until 9 to let people catch on to the later hours. Even those few days they were open late, people left in droves by 5. Just habit I suppose. But then they could have kept Epcot open till 11 since people are already used to being there late.

Good points. Last week it didn't really get dark until 9 or after so I suppose they had to keep the park open after that to let people enjoy the nighttime attractions. That will not be the case for the majority of the year. I bet they will scale back hours significantly for the fall and winter. Could be that many more people will come once Rivers of Light is up and running.
