Epcots no bag line was 100% metal detector this evening.
No I did not notice, nor was I looking, I was just passing by on my way to break. They were doing it again tonight.Did you happen to notice if they had a dedicated "small bags" line? I carry a wallet on a string that I often keep in my pocket for the start of my day but sometimes end up wearing it as a crossbody bag. I'm just trying to figure out if it's going to be quicker/easier to wear it as a bag and go through a "small bag" line or to just keep it in my pocket and go through the no bag line and need to go through the metal detector. Did those going through the metal detector need to empty *everything* out of their pockets or just the things that have metal...would I have to pull out the rain poncho, lip gloss, etc. or just my phone and wallet with metal clasps?

We have been no bags all week-- and have been sent through the metal detectors every time, along with everyone else no bag. The detectors are set so sensitive that the snaps on my cargo shorts set them off. Most of the staff have been very respectful, but the whole process is getting old. When everyone sets off the detector for a baggie tie, it's going to get really slow. my wife has a cloth phone case / wallet. They are calling it a bag now. I can fit it in my cargo shorts (it's the size of my wallet) and take it through the scanner, but the clasp for the strap sets off the metal detector also.
Yuck. Wonder if they set the sensors up on them or something? DH wears only cargo shorts and snaps or zippers have never caused it to go off in our trips. And I have a metal loop on my pouch that holds my ID and AP and that hasn't set it off. We are back in 2 weeks so we'll see if that changes things. We have been no bags all week-- and have been sent through the metal detectors every time, along with everyone else no bag. The bag your wife has sounds like the one DD has and we did find that in some cases they called it a bag and others they didn't. Maybe they clarified the rules to all guards now?
It was only one that said it was a bag. It just made it more difficult to decide what to do-- We really want to do what we are supposed to do, but they don't seem to know what that is...Really don;t want to go through bag check just because DW needs some hygene products...... a little violating.
I have a Disney Vera zipper pouch with a loop in my pocket that holds my ID and AP and I sure don't use the bag line for it. You can always view your wristlet as your wallet. Plenty of people carry a wallet in the park all the time and they sure don't use the bag line for it. Your bag holding an ID and AP is the same thing. Take your phone out of it for going in if that makes you feel better, that way it is only holding what a wallet holds.I have a wristlet I carry on trips to WDW and always have to use the bag check lane. It's only big enough to hold my AP, an ID, and my cell phone but it's a bag. A small bag line is hugely efficient! I always get stuck behind the family moving into the park with 10 bags. I'd
Love to put it in a pocket and go through the no bag line, but I want to do the right thing. I get too nervous otherwise.

I would agree but when you have people trying to bring guns into MK in the last year it helps sway me the other way.
True, but there's no denying WDW would be a trophy place for the terrorist nutjobs. You are around people with guns all of the time when you're out in public. What makes Disney any different?
I am OK with that. Some folks need to wake up we are at war. I have been to war and all I can say is they are winning. They can check me any time.I am all for it.I have a feeling that after the senseless shootings in Orlando this weekend they will go 100% for bag and no bag
