The Dream 4/15 - An everyday family's thoughts on Concierge and Cabanas!

Thanks phinz, it was crazy loud. I even went up to the top deck in the middle of the night to see if I could find the source of the noise and I couldn't. Thankfully that was the only night of the trip we heard it. It probably was a verandah divider!

There are new restrooms close to Cabana #11 now that are nice and super clean. much better than walking to the other restrooms over by Cookies 2!
Thanks! We are thinking of requesting 12 for our trip next March. We have only been in 3 or 4. Would you recommend 11 over 12?

It's *definitely* loud. We had winds of about 45 mph and 18-20' seas the first night. The two combined made that thing bang around like crazy.

I think Andy is on the magic now? Skinny, tall, really super friendly nice dude? We saw him walking between the cabanas I think

great review, thanks for sharing, I can't wait to do the Dream next year, my biggest fear is doing concierge and then not being able to do it again because of price... I am hoping I'll do it once and then just go back to normal for future cruises

Don't do it! You will NEVER want to go back. We thought the 3-day would prove that it really wasn't necessary for such a short cruise. Just the opposite--we enjoyed our 3-day on the Dream as much as we have any other cruise and the Concierge team was the biggest reason!

If you do it, you will love it! Just be prepared.

I disagree. We've done both, and we're fine with either one. The main reason we are doing it this November is because my father will be with us and we wanted him to get the full experience, including a cabana. He's earned it after he took care of my mother for 5 years when she had leukemia. He hasn't taken a real vacation since she passed and still works full time at 71 years old. If it was just us? We'd be doing an extended verandah and banking the difference for a visit to Universal and WDW.

We were in that room on the 3/7 cruise and my daughter left her Beats by Dre headphones on the balcony! Gorgeous room! Did you have to deal with loud banging noise your first night?

there were some loud bangs actually. I chalked it up to peoples open verandah doors slamming back and forth with the rough seas

Maybe I'm confused. You are a regular family who has taken 5 cruises and the OBB for savings isn't something you do? At some point soon you could have saved enough to pay for one of these cruises. The ROI for a 20 minute appointment is pretty darn great for returning cruisers.

maybe your taking it the wrong way. I am trying to say that we are not crazy planners that need to OBB every trip, we kind of go with the flow. I dont disagree that we could have saved money BUT this cruise and our October cruise on the Fantasy are concierge so I would get zero benefit.

How far was your cabana from the food and restrooms. We had #5 the last time and got #11 for our upcoming cruise. I liked 5 bc it was so close to the food and restrooms

someone said it below, there are brand new restrooms for cabana guests only and they are a few steps away. Much better than the main bathrooms. Cookies was a very short walk

I agree and I will finish writing about our experiences. Angeline told us in the first 5 minutes, there is no going back!

now that you mention it, my daughter and her new best friend (in the room next to us) figured out a way to get that open so they could go back and forth to see each other. must have been but it did seem awfully loud for that flimsy divider

if you like that view of the ship, I think 12 is your cabana. 11 is fairly close but set back a little more

I don't wake up easily (I've fallen asleep in the pits at LeMans endurance races and slept soundly for a couple of hours) and the divider woke me up several times. It's amazing how loud they can be. Keep in mind that the compartments are basically big steel drums and sound travels very well. This is the reason I will never stay on deck 10, forward of the elevators, starboard side under the gymnasium ever again. Noise carries really, really well.

Yes the new cabana restrooms are nice - we were in 5 but walked down to them instead of using the main bathrooms.

How long would you estimate that walk was? I'm curious to see them and trying to decide if it's an adult activity or if my 3 year old could come.

From 5 to the new bathrooms was maybe 2 minutes - I did it even with a jellyfish sting on the top of my foot. :)
