Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Gosh, I've attended so many (mostly WDW) events over the years and it's really really rare for Disney to open reservations for something of this proportion on a weekend. It's possible, but I think it's much more apt to happen on a weekday, even though the Blog announcement may be on Saturday. From my experience, I don't hold up much hope for IT handling it, but I like to remain hopeful.....LOL!!!

My AK days at this point are April 27 (evening) and all day / hopefully evening on the 28th, though I could make other arrangements for the 29th, too. Then, I'll be back in October, too.

I'll be checking Dining and FP at 11:00 PM my time tonight, too!
I agree. Either they will open tomorrow and the blog will announce that they are now open on Saturday, or Saturday the blog will announce a date in the future that they'll open. Just my 2 cents.

Did I read that we might be able to book dining packages on April 2nd??? (I know, everything is a rumor until it happens... i was just wondering if this was our latest rumor!!)
The DPB will be releasing info on April 2. That may or may not include dining packages. That is all we know. Several of us were told that information by Disney today

"Can’t wait for the information about the menu! I love the macaroni & cheese casseROLe at Skipper Canteen & am hoping to see something like that here. Disney DINING always has something new & exciting for us to try. Will there be a prix fixe or any other special PACKAGES?"

From the recent blog on Tiffins. :rotfl:
Good one!! :butterfly

So, I just did a Rivers of Light search on mydisneyexperince, and nothing comes up not even a we lost the page nothing.
Animal Kingdom came up for me in the MDE search for "Rivers of Light" rather than the actual page. I can click "new night experiences" and then on "Rivers of Light," but I still receive "We could not load available times for this experience. Select 'View Times' again to retry" when entering dates beyond 4/22

The title of my new book: Crazy CMs or Is it Me, and Where do I Get These People?
I work in an environment that has no internet and no wifi. I use my phone, but it loads slow, and with no wifi it runs the battery down. So, on my 35 minute commute home, I make my nightly call to Disney Dining to enquire about ROL packages. CM says, no, not available yet because Tiffins isn't open yet. I tell her Tiffins isn't scheduled to open until summer and is that the only restaurant with packages? Yes. So I say no fast passes and no TH packages with VIP seating? The answer is no and this is where it gets interesting. The CM: "You see, AK will continue to close early and the ROL will be a special ticketed after hours event, like MVMCP and MNSSHP. Watch the blogs, because tickets will be limited". I ask if this will be a ticket on top of the admission ticket to the park? "Yes. Is there anything else I can help you with?" With visions of my tickets being cancelled (thus my fps I so diligently set up at 12 am) so I can add a day, and all my perfect ADRs being cancelled in order to upgrade to the dining plan, Um, no?

I suspect you are correct...lots of folk monitor this thread for info....then they call us monsters because we're so scary...ha ha ha:scared1:

I was the one who made the monster comment. I never called anyone a monster. I was giving my source for the info and was only referring to the size of the thread.

I would consider a thread that is 400+ pages unusually large, but maybe others do not see it that way.

Honestly, it's all in good fun. We just like to have a good time on this thread.

No big deal. It's funny that this thread has grown so much. I personally have enjoyed all the discussions and laughter. We are a creative bunch. I consider this more of a chatroom than a thread at this point.

I also referred to us as the monster thread on another AK hours thread here on the DIS ... totally meant it in the sense of thread size! Hope no one from here took it any other way!

They probably wouldn't announce anything tomorrow considering what day it is. No one would know if it were true or not and don't think Disney would be so cruel.
That reminds me: twice today I've clicked on links that said new ROL info. Both times there was no new info. I think I'll just stick to this board tomorrow. I don't think anyone would jokingly post anything, but i was so disappointed after clicking on those links. :badpc:

Oh, I am so sorry...

Oh my word. My eyeballs were like what at seeing -20. Forgot that y'all do celsius up there and we're in fahreinheit; I was thoroughly concerned.
<snipped gif>

I felt like "... THESE CANADIANS ARE WARRIORS AND I COMPLAIN WHEN IT REACHES 30!" Turns out you suckas can't handle it either. :P

Your post made me giggle, but for the record, I'm from Northern Ontario (hundreds of kilometres/miles north of Toronto). -20C is a cold winter day for us, really cold is -35C pre-windchill and we tend to hit -50C (with windchill) at least a few times in January - those days are just miserable!

And for those that don't know, when it hits -32, is the same Celsius or Fahrenheit. That's when my winter coat comes out...

yeah, this sounds about right to me too. We've had a light winter over here this year (Canadian prairie--Alberta), but it isn't unusual for Jan/Feb to stick right around the -25 mark before the windchill, and -35 to -40 with the wind. one year we'll get our acts together and get down to Disney in the cold months! my birthday is in January, and I would love to spend it at Disney one year.
