SDFP... Here now. Works! *Read Post #48 and Post #671*

I just wanted to add, we did SDFP for MK on last Sunday. We had a BOG 8am ADR, kiosks at Phil were covered on our way to eat, but at 8:30 he was uncovering them. I went over and he said "These aren't actually open, and I don't know if your info will be saved, but you can try." Well, it worked. :) And I quickly just picked 3 rides for the 5 of us, I was able to change on the website. It ended up being a crowd level 10, I believe, so having those extra FPs was fantastic!
I saw BTMRR, Splash, Space, and then the smaller rides, available at 8:30. Later, when I tried to change one, nothing was available, so glad I went over at 8:30! (Then we walked over to SDMT and got in 2 rides b4 RD. pixiedust:)

Thanks to Hiro and Scrapyap, another successful trip! :thumbsup2
Kind of sad, that was our last scheduled WDW trip for awhile, 4 in 2 years. I may have withdrawals...:scared:

We have 4 old magic bands from our last trip. So all i have to do is bring them with us and scan them at a fp kiosk and i can add 3 fp to them?

I have 4 bands on DH account that I'm bringing. Everything for this trip is on my account. Do I need to scan all 4 of DH bands at the kisok, or can I just scan 1 and all 4 will show up?

It only works if the MBs are linked to someone not in the parks/on the trip. If they are old bands linked to you, then they just pull your info (already scheduled FP) just like your new one will.

I already bought three extra bands and was intending to set up a phantom MDE for them but now I am wondering if I could just set up phantom members in the MDE I already have? What do people find is the easiest way to do it? I'm thinking probably a different account would be best in order to keep everything separate. Also, two of my kids are under 3 so their bands have no tickets. Those could presumably be used for SDFP as well I believe, correct?

This is our first trip with FP+ (we have gone to DLR the past two years). We are staying onsite and should be getting our included MBs soon.

Sorry to be dense, but I was planning on just buying some more MBs at the parks and using those for SDFP. Do you have to create an MDE account? Instead of creating a second MDE, I was planning on just buying the MB and using the kiosk to pick our three SDFPs. I realize that we wouldn't be able to modify any of those SDFP+ if we don't create another MDE account or add phantoms to our current MDE account...but if I don't plan on modifying any, do they still need to be connected to an MDE account? Trying to figure out the easiest way to do it....If I do have to create another MDE account, would it be easier to do it before our trip? We will not have any tickets or reservations linked to our purchased MBs.

I have some magic bands from a previous room only stay that do not appear on my MDE. Can I use these for SDFP? They were from a orbitz reservation a year ago. Do I have to create another MDE account for them if I don't want to modify the FPs?

My friend wants to buy some magicbands in the park, if she does not link them to MDE she can just get her extra SDFP at the kiosks, right?

One usage I didn't include on the original thread http://www.disboards.com/threads/maximize-fp-get-a-second-set-see-post-227-before-posting.3245463/ - if you buy vouchers for an annual pass that you plan to activate next year or whenever in the future (up to the year 2030 in some cases), you can link the vouchers to a separate MDE and pre-book a second set of FP+ up to 30 days out. If you book a resort reservation on that second MDE, book 60 days out. Better attraction choices, of course - and very convenient to avoid the kiosks entirely, though the one at City Hall does remain pretty empty.

Once you check into the resort that you booked under the separate MDE, you can ask at the front desk for a set of cards to use in lieu of the bands. Then you can avoid taking a second set of MBs to the park. Just take the cards. (And mark them all clearly with a sharpie. I brought stickers along to add to mine to keep clear which was which.) No problem using these FP+ even though the vouchers have not been exchanged for tickets/activated.

P.S. The unactivated voucher will only work for FP+. It won't work for the free parking or the free Photopass downloads that will be entitlements after activation.

Hey SrapYap! Thanks again for all the info. Last day of my trip is tomorrow at HS. Having those extra passes were awesome! The process still works just fine. I did them all day and was able to et ages real good ones like SDMT, SM, TOT, ROR and many other M&G

Followed the previous thread since the beginning planning my June 2014 trip, good to see this is going strong.

I'm heading back in dec 2016 and will use my 2014 MDE for extra fast passes. I was going to purchase tickets to use in 2017, linked to this 2014 account as a Pre-planned FP+ generator. I am considering hitting a MVMCP one night and using it on the other days as a SDFP generator. My 2016 MDE will also have linked tickets and my current onsite stay.

Not sure if I really care about an additional SDFP generator, but if I wanted to use my party tickets as such, which MDE should I make phantoms on, or does it matter?

What else do you want to know about them? I made SDFP's yesterday at MK and will be making them tomorrow at HS. I don't use MB's but instead just old tickets from other people who have visited down here (using the hard plastic cards). I also have been able to change them using the mobile site but not on the app (but that's been the case for quite awhile).

Good to know, I was planning on using someone's plastic tickets from a few years ago. Do you have to set up a new account in MDE?

You can't apply old/expired tickets to a new account. If they were currently under your account (most of mine are tickets I bought for relatives, sons' girlfriends, etc.) you can access and make changes to them (only in a web browser) or at least see them in the app. If they were never under your account, you could try linking to whoever's they were but may just have to make all changes at the kiosk and then take a pic of what you get. I have a waterpark ticket that works this way (yes, a one day waterpark ticket that was used but never assigned to anyone on MDE still lets me choose 3 FPP's at a kiosk day of!).

Can you get a set of cards for the park tickets that come with a package reservation? I want a set of cards for each ticket because I would rather give a card to someone so that they can use my fastpass, rather than give them my MagicBand. Can you do this at resort check in or do you have to go to guest services?

Yes, we just had friends do this last week. They just asked at resort check-in.

Just remember that if you have Memory Maker, the ride photos won't be automatically picked up by the cards - you need bands for that. But you can always tap the card to get the photo at the ride exit.

I just want to make sure that I understand this SDFP MagicBands/Phantom MDE account correctly...

So
1. I create a separate MDE account with a different email address. (Account would have our names but slightly different spelling??)
2. I get four magic bands from disney store.
3. Enter the park with magic bands that have tickets linked. Leave SDFP magic bands in the bag.
4. Go to a FP+ kiosk in the park, scan all four SDFP magic bands and pick my extra 3 FP+ from the kiosk.....

Did I get it right??

You do have to link the new bands to your separate MDE. When you buy them, say you want "link it later" mode and link them when you get home.

I knew I missed a step.... thank you ScrapYap! My trip is not until August.. Gonna way until July to see if this SDFP thing still works.
