ShirikiUtundu...I am always amazed at the loudness of people in the hallways. No consideration for others, no matter the time of day or night!
Our first stay at the Wilderness Lodge CL was actually ruined by a whole floor of loud rude people. From early morning to late at night! It's unbelievable the lack of consideration. There has always been the rule in our family that if you make noise or run down the hallways you miss out on special things during the trip. It always worked. My kids are 17 and 14 and they still respect that rule. There is no excuse for being inconsiderate! We all have different schedules!!!!

Tom I do believe that you are our Grand foodie...and I for one appreciate your food recommendations, reviews and also the additional info about how many dining credits the different meals require...:goodvibes
Tappan Edo is a fave of ours too...for both the food and the dining experience. ..and we tend to lean towards San Angel Inn rather than La Hacienda ..we might have to give it another try based on your recommendation! Thanks for the info!!! It's def always about the food...snacks too...lol...
. Blue, I have a hard time getting past the tequila bar and actually eating at the San Angel Inn!!

Morning all!!!

We always come across very loud people in the mornings!!! Almost everyday on every trip at the Grand and WL over the years. My family is not interested in anything in early AM, even when they were little. Never saw a rope drop in person!!

Booked my ADR's for my July trip a while ago and yesterday received an AWESOME pin for 30% and free park hopper!!! But I am so stressed that were only staying 5 nights in order to go over to the dark side to see Harry Potter. My family absolutely loves HP and we are finally going, I am looking forward to it, but hate that its infringing on my GF stay...since we only go once a year to WDW. I did tell them all, this will be the ONLY time I ever do this...lol lol.

Blue - Great pictures!!! Never had a chance to stop at the Tequila bar, my DH is always rushing to Germany...lol!! My personally love Gray Goose Frozen drink in France and Red Stag in USA!!!

Tom - I have always wanted to check out La Hacienda, the reviews have always made me doubtful. Maybe next time I'll just chance it since your rave review. My family insists on Via Napoli, after that they leave it up to me.

Just read about this on Kenny the Pirate....:goodvibes and it sounds wonderful...and ...its complimentary....a Disney rarity...lol...Hope that you will come back and let us know what you think about it....:thumbsup2

~To add to the info about the Princess Promenade...

According to what I read on KTP... the children have an opportunity to stroll down the GF grand staircase with Cinderella...sounds like some simple fun...not to mention a great photo op for parents! I think it for ages 3 to 12 and meets at M.Mouse Mercantile at 3:30 in the afternoon....

Thanks BlueSkies!

At some point when they were VERY little, I told my kids that we were spies and so had to be very quiet in the hallways. It worked! They still get excited sometimes and run, so I try to remember to tell them before we leave the room not to run. And they are otherwise almost NEVER quiet!

DW, DD4, DD2, and I will be in WDW this May. On our MK day, I would like to use the middle of the day for some down time. I had the idea of heading over to the Grand Floridian to find a quiet area the girls could possibly take a nap (mostly DD2). Even just some AC and some snacks away from all the excitement of the MK would be good.

I know the good spots in our home resort at Wilderness Lodge, but I was hoping the Grand Floridian fans would know some good spots.

Thanks All!

The seating areas in the lobby are pretty cozy, but not exactly quiet. There are some slightly lesser used seating areas on the 2nd floor but again, with the lobby bustle probably not too quiet. I think the Contemporary has plenty more quiet nooks, but it probably wouldn't be very exciting.

Also, we saw the Princess Promenade last week. It was about 10 minutes long or so. Little kids seemed to like it, there were tons of them there.

I think it would be best to go back to your room at WL to nap your children. It's just as conveniently located to MK as GF.

Plus, there isn't really any place for children to take a nap in common areas of a hotel.

I think taking the boat from MK back to WL would be your best bet, that way maybe your little one would fall asleep on the boat and be able to nap in your room. I don't think napping in a resort lobby would be comfortable for the kids, the lobbies can get kind of loud with all the people coming and going. I think the kids would like the lobby to look around, go in the shops, etc. but as for sleeping I'm not really sure (don't have kids, I just know I'd be more comfortable napping in my room so I'm guessing kids would to).

WishesQueen, whenever we have had room 4320 on the RPC 3rd floor, every morning - and I do mean every morning - we were wakened by the click-clack of checkers being moved about by little kids. It never failed that the next sound was a holler from an exasperated parent for junior to get his/her little butt to the a) room or b) breakfast. More reliable than a rooster any day. But, this is preferable to the behaviour of some other guests who have little to no regard for those around them. We have had people in the next room yell and scream horrendous abuse at their families each night and then show horrendous behaviour to the CMs at breakfast. Why they think they are suited to a Disney vacation I'll never know. But, even then, most guests we have seen at the GF are far better behaved than the guests who proved the final straw at the CR. Many moons ago, when the dinosaurs roamed (yep, you guessed it - from the 1970s to the 90s) we were Contemporary people. We had seen a steady decline in the resort and were seriously considering future stays. That last straw came in the shape of a large family group who had the next room to us on the 12th floor and and , I think, another two rooms. They ranged in age from baby to grandpa, but mostly they were teenaged. The first night was fine, no more than average sounds of a family coming home after midnight Park closing. The second, however, the sounds were more akin to pre-football tailgate party. The three rooms were enjoying their balconies to the fullest. They ended up in a competition to see which moron could throw a full beer can the furthest and whether they could hit anybody. This was carpark/MK side, so there were several cars drawing up even at that late hour. I can't recall Dad's response (a gentle and learned man) but, next trip we were at the GF and we have been here since. So, after that experience, checkers are mere rustlings of sound outside the door.

Sorry, I should have mentioned we aren't staying at our home resort this time. We are staying at AKL, and the long ride back is what I was trying to avoid. We may end up just heading over to WL via the boat. I was figuring one of them might knock out in the stroller, and was hoping to use the monorail so I wouldn't need to get them out of the stroller.

I think we'll just have to make a decision at that time depending on the girls.

I agree that yes the GF lobby is very busy.... but if your kids are like mine, Disney fun and sun makes them so tired they would nap on top of a Pickett fence if I let them. There are some areas with comfy couches throughout the lobby and maybe you wouldn't have to take them out of the strollers at all. Good luck.

When tired they do knock out much easier. We will have to see.

The princess promenade sounds interesting too. I think they would enjoy that after some rest.

Thanks

Totally agree...:thumbsup2...and at the GF lobby and common areas tend to be quite busy due to the popularity of 1900 PF and in the afternoon the pianist and orchestra keeps things from getting too quiet...

Tom Great pic! :goodvibes Maybe you will make it past La Cava one of these days ...lol!!! And enjoy the dinner at the San Angel Inn...

Wishes Lots of good beverage choices in Epcot! :drinking1..lol..that GG slushie in France is popular with us too!

follow Yikes..:earseek:....that's awful...I agree..those rooms closer to the common areas in RPC can get a little noisy...especially early in the morning. ..the deluxe queens on the atrium side have their entrance in a small hallway which makes them a bit quieter...but the view from the ones that overlook the courtyard area is soooo nice! :lovestruc Especially that you can see the high fireworks from the MK...

~BTW...page THREE rescue...GF groupies..where are you...lol...

Hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend. ..:earsgirl:

followthatmouse - OMG I think we had that room too!! At first I loved the extra room, but soon realized it was going to be very noisy!!! I don't remember the checkers, just everyone going and coming to eat!!

I have a quick question that I cannot seem to find a definitive answer to. I know the GF CL texting service used to make a 4th FP for you once you exhausted your three. I had a friend who stayed GF RPC at the end of December and was told this service no longer exists...all 4th FP need to be made at the park. Can anyone confirm if this is policy or just a misinformed CM?
Thanks!

Made my ADRs this past week. Couldn't make any on line :confused3 so had to phone dining for my first 10 days, and because our stay is 14 days, then had to wait a few days yo call again for my last 4 days.
I think MDE is having issues again.
