Blizzard Beach Do Over - "The Bestest Day Ever!!!! HORRAY FOR HOLLYWOOD! NEW 06/12 Pg 19 and 20

**Question of the day – Were we able to complete our quest for the balloon ride, ?***

I’ll Fly Away ….. maybe

Tuesday May 5th was supposed to be our sleep in, play at the pool, explore the resort day. At least that was what we had planned until I got the Groupon for the balloon ride. By today, I really wanted to just bag the idea and relax at the resort with the kids. Jim and Ryan, however, really didn’t want me to waste the money I had spent, so Ryan called the balloon company, and they stated that we should come by at 8:00 am or when the rain stopped, to see if they were flying.

So, since we did wake up early, we ate some eggs and bagels and then we were off to DTD. It was raining when we were first looked, so we actually headed out about 8:30. We arrived at the boat dock to wait for our water taxi. There was a sign up that said they opened at 9. We stood waiting by the chain – not climbing under it, not sitting on the fence, not jumping in the water – just standing near the entrance – a boat nazi came marching by and said, “You know the boat will not be taking off for another 10 minutes!” in her most authoritative voice. “Yes, thank you.”
“Standing there is not going to make it happen any quicker.” Jim didn’t like her comments. He said something like, “Really, we’re too stupid to know that. Thanks, we got it!” She kind of circled us and gave Jim the stink eye, then kept walking up toward the resort. In exactly 10 min, she came marching down to the dock, got on the boat and fiddled around for a bit, before she opened the gate and pulled the chain back without looking at us. Okay, point made.

I took this one for Mary Ellen while we waited:

We had a quick ride over to DTD, or Disney Springs as it has been called now.

Lots of construction over here:

We headed back toward the balloon as quickly as possible. No, they were not up and running – they were earlier, but now it was too breezy up there. Come back at dusk. Alright. So we wandered around and did some shopping, got a refill on our Adult sports drink bottles (purchased earlier in the week – got a nice discount on the refills)

I headed over to Basin, then to the little shop on the corner across from EOS. I was on the lookout for Mulan, because Londynn thought I should bring Mulan home for Liv I finally made it over to Quest and found the gang. They were having a blast playing some games. I ran upstairs to take some pics of the snack bar. I may have sat at a table and did a little Facebook. I really don’t do well in arcades.

Then we found the Pirates of the Caribbean game. So much fun! We had to split our group up, so I took the boys in first, then they let the boys join the other three adults for a second adventure. If you haven’t done this one, it is a must do! You are sent into a little booth that is the replica of an old schooner deck, Complete with cannons and a stern. One of you gets to be the captain and steer, and the others get to shoot the cannons while you are “sailing” in a virtual reality sea with all kinds of attacks and high seas and obstacles. We were running back and forth and laughing. It went by quickly.

Here are some internet renderings:

We ended back out on the street, and Mason needed to choose his birthday gift from us at the Lego Store! He chose the big pirate ship! I think they packed the little bags of pieces in their luggage and left the box behind. We spent quite a bit of time making little lego people from the bins of parts. We got a smaller set for Evan also.

WOD was all dolled up for Cinderella

By now we were feeling pretty hungry, so we went back over to EOS because we had enjoyed it so much on Saturday. The ordering process went pretty smooth this time, and we enjoyed our lunch outside. We struck up a conversation with a family next to us, and the boys enjoyed splashing in the nearby splash area.

We decided to head back to the resort for a bit, and have some pool time. We hopped on the water taxi back -
Our elusive balloon quest

Love this one every time

We enjoyed the pool for awhile. I may have mixed up an adult beverage in my mug. Frozen lemonade, citrus vodka, and sprite. We headed over to the main pool because the kids wanted to try the slide over there. There were group activities going on, but the boys just wanted to play with mom and dad, and we just wanted to relax and read and sleep in our chairs. It seemed like we just got settled and it was time to pack up and head back to the resort to get ready to celebrate Mason’s choice for his Birthday Dinner…..

Where do we have an ADR this evening????

For some reason, I thought I had commented on the last chapter, but I guess not. Sorry about that. Anyway, I would have guessed no on this just because I've tried to ride that stupid balloon 3 or 4 times now and have never been able to get there when it's actually been in operation!

I see so many of these people in my office. They get their little kingdom and decide to rule with an iron fist.:sad2:

Shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

Not a bad place to pick out a birthday gift. I wish that Lego Store had some special Disney-specific stuff. That would be cool.

a boat nazi came marching by and said, “You know the boat will not be taking off for another 10 minutes!” in her most authoritative voice.

Yes ma'am! Absolutely ma'am! Permission to just relax ma'am? Or do we need to drop and give you twenty?

sheesh.

“Standing there is not going to make it happen any quicker.”

Walk up to her and follow her wherever she goes. Stand as close as possible to her in her personal space so she feels uncomfortable.
"Not standing there, as instructed."

I suppose.
Piss them off after they've done what you need them to do.

I can see this being a problem.
"We headed over to DS."
You went over to your son?

We headed back toward the balloon as quickly as possible. No, they were not up and running – they were earlier, but now it was too breezy up there.

::yes:: I knew some folks who tried for months to go on a hot air balloon (un-tethered).

Prime Time?

Yeah for a big birthday gift at the Lego store. Hope you can get on the balloon, as it is really good fun and the view is amazing.

Oh, and a little bit of relaxation by the pool is always good! ;)

What was WITH that lady? Seriously, does she think people just MIGHT arrive early by overestimating their travel time from their room? Don't get it....

I'm super excited to check out the new stuff at Disney Springs; looks like you had a super fun time there especially at Quest.

EOS, nom-nom. I could eat there everyday, for sure!

Hmmm..... O'hana? I don't know.... could be you've already eaten there. In which case I'd feel really stupid, but then again, I can't keep much more stored in my gray matter these days.

Wow..rude boat lady! Sorry the balloon wasn't working out but sounds like a fun time anyway!

It seems to get a lot of attention and get a lot of hopes up without delivering much, I think.

I see so many of these people in my office. They get their little kingdom and decide to rule with an iron fist.:sad2:

So true - you give some people a little bit of authority and they think they are the CEO or something

Shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

How do you fly without a breeze? :confused3

That's a good idea! It must cost too much for licensing or something.

Noted. Thanks for reading!

I can't believe they didn't consult the DIS acronym list before choosing a name! :magnify:

:(

That looks like fun!

Very fun! Just too short, like all good things.

How was it? Sounds pretty good.
It was good, but better when I can find the little bottles of Citron. They didn't have them at the liquor store when I was packing, so I got a "whatever" copycat. It was a little bitter. Stick to the Citron.

Prime Time?

Lego is his thing! It was convenient for us, not to have to pack a gift, just let him shop and his parents could pack it! :rotfl2:

Frustrated drill sergeant

Time goes by so fast over there - spent way more time than we planned, and still didn't see everything.

EOS, nom-nom. I could eat there everyday, for sure!

Big :thumbsup2 from us!

Okay, I'm going to give you a hint because you are studying so hard - we ate at Ohana's on the 2nd night....:rolleyes1

Wow..rude boat lady! Sorry the balloon wasn't working out but sounds like a fun time anyway!

Hi Jill! I don't think she is a morning person!:( We did have a great day. It went by too fast.

***Thanks for the comments everyone, lets me know some of you are still here!***:yay:

This is for Pat - Not my pic - my camera wasn't working for night shots, but I think this is the shot she is requesting :rotfl:

With our adventure over, we decided to head on over to the resort – we had a birthday cake to eat!!!!

Don't think it is my money but sorry for the crappy set up for FP+. Seems ridiculous right?

The cake and decorations for Mason look great- a bit funny about yelling about the cake.

I had a feeling the balloon was going to be a no-go. Sorry you had the trip over and the wait with the rude boat lady.

Glad you could spend some time at the pool and for dinner.... T-Rex?

Hi Pat! Yes, I think FP+ stinks. I guess it would be nice to sleep in and schedule for later, but we have so few trips with limited time, so we get to the parks early and get as much in one day as we can, so I almost can't see that happening, but maybe some day I will try it.

I guess I have to have "one of those moments" on every trip. :rotfl2:

The balloon did get to be the holy grail of the vacation. I guess we didn't let that lady ruin our day, so it was all good.

I have noted your dinner guess.

Okay, I'm going to give you a hint because you are studying so hard - we ate at Ohana's on the 2nd night....:rolleyes1

You're so kind. You know, it's hard fitting any more information AT ALL inside this brain of mine. :P Sorry I haven't been here as you know I like to be Tammie. It's just so hard. I never, ever thought it'd be so, so hard.

That's okay Liesa. I can't even imagine. I think they make it so hard and fast paced because that is the way you have to function in the medical world. Fitting in our dinner plans is the last thing you need to keep in your head. Hope your exam goes well.

Well, here I am asking for forgiveness from my readers again. :daisy: I can't believe it has been so long since an update:faint: These grandkids are keeping me busy lately. We are on our way out to Idaho for Thanksgiving tomorrow! (I know Thanksgiving is not tomorrow, but we are leaving tomorrow). We'll be at my parents' and Ryan and fam are coming up from Oregon!!! I'm a little :jumping1: So I want to wish you Happy Thanksgiving!!! We won't have internet there, so I will have to catch up when we return! I promise to be back with an update! So......

Being busy with the grandkids is a good excuse. :) Have a wonder Thanksgiving and safe travels!

Jill in CO

THANK YOU! for your understanding while I was gathering my family and then my witts! You knew I was traveling - we had a great time up in cold Idaho - even built a snowman with Evan and Mason!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday too! (even if you weren't in America :duck:)

So Where did we have our ADR? I don't think anyone guessed... We had shown videos of different dinner shows to Mason and let him choose a "birthday dinner."

We had a 7:30 ADR – so after we were dried off and dressed up, we took the bus to TTC, then hopped on the boat to Fort Wilderness for a HOOP DE DOO!!!

We were about 15 minutes early, but it seemed they were not doing the entrance photo, and they were not seating anyone yet. I was disappointed about no photo. (Not sure why I didn’t have faith in the money making opportunity talents of Disney.)

Ryan had purchased the Level 1 seating right at the 6 month mark. (With a little help from Mom, of course.) Turns out we had a table right up front next to the stage! Such a fun spot to watch the show!

As they were taking drink orders and explaining the menu, various waitresses and cast members came by and “tested” our table to see if we could be fun – mostly Ryan. More about that later.

They started serving our drinks, and then the stagecoach arrived, and in came the players, singing and mingling. A couple of the ladies came by and “flirted” with Ryan on their way up to the stage.

It turns out Ryan was “that guy” The lovelorn gal, (can’t remember her name) came by and asked Ryan for his name during an “interview” in the audience. From then on, she played up to him. His name was inserted in jokes, aka “Just ask RYAN!” or “like RYAN!” Or “and RYAN!” We all cracked up and of course the audience laughed too.

At one point, she came and sat on Ryan’s lap and put her hat over their faces, pretending to make out with him. She looked sideways at Dana and said, “Don’t worry, I didn’t really kiss him. Much.”

We enjoyed our fried chicken, ribs, corn on the cob, beans and corn bread, along with our inclusive wine and beer.

Then it was time for the Washboard concert, which the boys loved! For some reason, when it was time to announce birthdays, Mason didn’t want to admit it was his birthday. The boys did enjoy the napkin waving too!

After that, it was time for<iframe width="640" height="360" src="
" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Our server is the Tall guy on the right in the second row. When he walks across the stage to the left, he is coming down the stairs to serve us. I took a pic of him with the tray, which he stopped and posed for, but I somehow don't have it. Not much personality, but a nice guy with good service!

And then some fond good byes. Miss “Alice” was very sad to leave RYAN! Since the meal was prepaid and gratuity and drinks were included, we didn’t have any settling up to do. Our server took a table photo, and we were ready to roll.

Outside, we looked around in the booths for some pins, and guess what? The photo op was open! It was very confusing because they were taking photos for the next show as well as catching up from our showing. They tried to hustle us into the lineup for dinner again…..

Maybe we should have tried that! If only our stomachs could hold another dinner.

We lined up on the dock, we didn’t really try to rush, but we did realize it was dark, so this would be the last sailing.

We took the bus back to the resort and were soon all tucked in and all tuckered out.

Next: A World Tour and a very special DIS meet!

Question: We are at Epcot next with an "Eat around the World" day. What did we try first?

I did! I just celebrated it at a much more reasonable time of year.

:rolleyes1

even built a snowman with Evan and Mason!

Awww... They look like they're having fun!

Good choice,Mason!

This is the third TR in a row that I've read where the writer has gone to Hoop De Doo and sat up next to the stage.

As they were taking drink orders and explaining the menu, various waitresses and cast members came by and “tested” our table to see if we could be fun

Didn't know they did that.

A couple of the ladies came by and “flirted” with Ryan on their way up to the stage.

 Was he embarrassed or happy?

It turns out Ryan was “that guy” The lovelorn gal, (can’t remember her name) came by and asked Ryan for his name during an “interview” in the audience. From then on, she played up to him. His name was inserted in jokes, aka “Just ask RYAN!” or “like RYAN!” Or “and RYAN!” We all cracked up and of course the audience laughed too.

:lmao: That's great!

She looked sideways at Dana and said, “Don’t worry, I didn’t really kiss him. Much.”

:rotfl: That cracks me up!

We enjoyed our fried chicken, ribs, corn on the cob, beans and corn bread, along with our inclusive wine and beer.

I love how you mention the wine and beer and then post a photo of the kids.

Miss “Alice” was very sad to leave RYAN!

Poor Alice. I hope Ryan let her down gently.

The photo op was open! It was very confusing because they were taking photos for the next show as well as catching up from our showing.

Odd. But at least you can sleep nights now knowing Disney didn't let that money making opportunity go by.

They tried to hustle us into the lineup for dinner again…..

Go!

Maybe we should have tried that! If only our stomachs could hold another dinner.

Skip the food. Enjoy the show again and drink more wine and beer!
(Or were the kids pretty hammered already?)

Question: We are at Epcot next with an "Eat around the World" day. What did we try first?

Cronut.

Looks like you had a wonderful holiday!!!!

Hoop de Doo is still on my must do list. It always sounds like a fun time. I like that your table got some "personal" service.
