The Haunted Mansion is Disney Perfection - Talk Amongst Yourselves

OP, how about a poll for metrics? That's always a good way to see at a glance. Perhaps:
1) (your title)
2) Not really my thing, but if I'm there...
3) It's ok, but I like the newer attractions better
4) Avoid it, hate the theme, hate the attraction

Agree, HM is A favorite in our family, favorite!!
We ride it multiple times, enjoy everything about it.

Love it, never miss it! Hidden Jacks and Sally? Hadn't heard that so I'll have to do some research....I do think I know about the Hidden Mickey in the graveyard though.....

MAJOR Disagree. Sci Fi 5th Dimension lightning zapped into another quasi dimension of possibilities, a sort of out of phase (for many of us trekkies) does NOT equal a seance, a hanging, or summoning of wicked spirits. While ToT embraces its eerie side (as Twightlight Zone and Outer Limits often did), it never professes to be gazing over a crystal ball or having a party of undead spirits and they never sit in your car with you etc. Its a pretty highly offensive comparison.
Well, while riding HM is definitely nostalgic...Tower of a Terror is my absolute favorite ride anywhere ever soooooo, you will never convince me you're right.

ToT is MY FAVE ride too! So we are agreeing ON ToTs awesomeness while disagreeing that the subject matter of HM and ToT are the same. And I'm still right. SciFi is Awesome the way that super hero's are awesome. Which is not the same as ghosty stuff. Agree to disagree to agree that ToT is awesome!

That hidden Mickey is the one I was talking about!

The Jack's and Sally's are nearly impossible to see with the lights off, so I'm not sure they really count. There is a hidden Jack in the Master's portrait in the beginning though... The rest I only know about because I went on a walk through tour of it.

Completely agree. It is my favorite ride at WDW and Disney in general

I will admit some of my love for HM comes from having experienced the attraction when I was very young and being delightfully frightened. While I'm no longer frightened and know all of the tricks, the attention to detail is exquisite. The story is pleasantly grim, and most unexpected in a park with such a happy overtone.

If they were to slow it down a bit so you could actually see the different things I would agree. Right now they have it cranked too fast to actually get to enjoy the different effects.

I had never thought about it before but, yes, it could stand to be ever so slightly slower. There's so much to take in and it slips by so quickly.

:)

Just to be clear, I don't think the subject matter is the same. I just think that both have amazing theming and really immerse you in their stories. We can still be friends. :cutie:

Dd and I adore the Haunted Mansion but my brother says the whole ride should be gutted. He's a great person so I will forgive this lapse in judgment.

I agree that it's the best attraction at WDW, but I think the original PoC at Disneyland is my favorite. I hear the one in Paris is pretty spectacular as well.

I can definitely appreciate the nostalgia and everything that went into this ride it's not even close to my favorite. Tower of terror and expedition Everest have the thrill factor which is essential in the complete ride experience for me.

Even if it weren't for the immersive theming, incredible atmosphere, and timeless special effects, I would love it just for the fact that it represents a time when Disney was truly an all-ages park and didn't feel the need to sanitize all of its rides for children (RIP Alien Encounter).
