The Haunted Mansion is Disney Perfection - Talk Amongst Yourselves

Agree! :thumbsup2 HM and POTC are two of my absolute favorites.

I love buying HM merchandise to decorate for Halloween. The new HM shop wasn't open yet during my last trip, so I'm excited to check it out.

I'm super bummed that POTC will be closed this summer. :sad1:

Totally agree! My DD10 and I ride it multiple times each time we visit MK! In fact, you might just see us ride it 3 times in a row! I notice different things every time we ride!

Agree. But Tower of Terror equals the HM in my opinion for theming and backstory.
MAJOR Disagree. Sci Fi 5th Dimension lightning zapped into another quasi dimension of possibilities, a sort of out of phase (for many of us trekkies) does NOT equal a seance, a hanging, or summoning of wicked spirits. While ToT embraces its eerie side (as Twightlight Zone and Outer Limits often did), it never professes to be gazing over a crystal ball or having a party of undead spirits and they never sit in your car with you etc. Its a pretty highly offensive comparison.

I agree - it is Disney magic at it's best! It's such a classic....and not ONE mention of "Grim Grinning Ghost" in this thread yet - a great song that accompanies the ride!

There's nothing to discuss. The title says it all.

I do close my eyes in the stretching room with the body though. Not my thing at all. But the details in that ride are perfect. Even though I hate the body, he appears throughout the ride in different portraits which I love. There is a special hidden Mickey that I have never heard anyone ever mention before (no, not the dining room one). There are hidden Jack's and Sally's throughout. Every time I enter that ride there is something new to look at or try to find. The two different halves of the ride blend together really well and cater to different types of people. And Grim Grinning Ghosts is my favorite attraction song ever (I may have freaked out a bit when I heard it in Inside Out)

I am partial to The Haunted Mansion/Pirates of The Carribean...they are like sister attractions or perhaps 2 flip sides of the same coin...same mixture of humor/darkness and attention to detail.Blew me away on my first trip in 1976 at 8 years old and still is a must do today

Ok. can someone please explain what it is that I missed. I personally was not impressed with it, and was left wondering what the hype was all about. However, I did ride with my 9 year old, who was a little freaked out so I was focusing more on her then on the ride. I plan on riding again when we go in December, so if someone could let me know what I am missing I would appreciate it so that join the love bandwagon.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I don't really like it. It's a ride we do if we're in that area and have time to kill but we don't specifically put it in our plans. I've done trips without riding it and didn't miss it at all....

The whole backstory and just the aura of the place. If you were too busy with a child that was freaking out you would have def missed it. Here's some light reading lol http://www.doombuggies.com/secrets1.php
