Akershus Change

No, the photo package is no longer included with the price of the meal. They will scan your magic band and post the Belle photo on photo pass for you to purchase at a separate cost.

If you have already purchased MemoryMaker, there won't be a separate cost for the Akershus photos - you can print them out at home for free. Just FYI for anyone who has MM.

Okay, let me figure this out so we know what to expect two weeks from now. There is fruit, pastry, and that cheese and meat platter served table side? Is it sufficient and if not, can you ask for more?

We are not overrated, but I want the option of getting what we paid for.

I really don't mind it served table side but want an assortment

Uhg I really hope they change it back or offer some kind of yogurt or something that you can order separately. My kid doesn't like eggs, meat, or potatoes, so that buffet was the saving grace of the meal.

DD and I ate breakfast at Akershus on Thursday and were really disappointed. They bring a cold plate of meat and cheese appetizer which didn't appeal to either of us. Additionally, some pastries were removed from the menu and I didn't know they took away the photo package. Akershus was our tradition each trip but I don't think we'll be going back with the changes.

The princesses interaction also was disappointing. I don't think the casting was what it once was.

Thanks for the update. I have a ressie but DH was complaining about going so I might cancel

We have an ADR for lunch in October. One of my kids is 10yo. How is the pricing done now? He would be satisfied with a kids meal and the menus on the Disney site list kids meals now. I don't want to keep the ADR if I have to pay an adult price for a kid's meal.

Here's what we had Thurs: first meat/cheese/fish cold platter, basket of processed pastries (not fresh) including croissants and mini bagels with jam, dish of fruit salad and the hot platter consisting of bacon, sausage, potatoes and eggs. You can ask for more if you'd like.

Did they have lingonberry pastries in the basket, tb1972? It gets less Norwegian every year.

We just ate there on Thursday as well. They give you a plate with cold lunchmeat style turkey, salami, and pork. There are also several types of cheese along with smoked salmon and mackerel (I believe). They also gave you a bowl of assorted fruit, a bowl of strawberry yogurt and a basket of pastries including donut holes, cinnamon buns, bagels with jelly, and croissants. They also bring a plate of hot items like potatoes, bacon, sausage, and eggs. They told us we could ask for anything extra that we wanted. We requested more salmon and yogurt and they brought it right out. A table near us each requested their own bowls of fruit and they brought one out for all 10 people at the table. We liked the buffet, but didn't feel that the food was lacking, just not as much selection as before. The manager we talked to said one of the reasons for the change was so people were seated when the princesses came to the tables as to not miss anyone. Don't know how much a problem this was in the past.

Our princess interaction was actually very good. It was time for the processional and Ariel saw my 2.5 yo DS and came over, took him by the hand and led him around.

All if the printed pictures are gone from beingg included with the meals without memory maker.

When you arrived did they tell you about how / what was served, or was it brought immediately to your table? I agree with jenjersnap about waste - if they bring us the cold meat and fish we will likely leave it all. I'd like the chance to decline a couple of things. Thanks for the information anjalee6.

Now they're just making stuff up.

There are many character meals that are buffets and, for the love of Pete, Akershus can't figure out how to do it? Send the manager over to Crystal Palace or Cape May Cafe or Chef Mickeys. Sounds like a load of hooey to me and they're just trying to cut costs.

So... If I'm reading correctly, they *do* still bring fruit and yogurt as well? Minus the meat options, my vegetarian family could still get potatoes, eggs, fruit, yogurt, cheese, and pastries, then... Correct? That is a lot better than what I was imagining here.

It would still be a terrible value if we were paying out of pocket, but with free dining, that might be okay. Hmmmm.

Please correct me if I am mistaken about anything listed above! And thank you SO MUCH for your report. This is extremely helpful!!!

No buffet with lunch then? We are booked here because DH actually enjoyed that part, not sure we will want to keep the ADR if it has changed.

We don't eat most of the buffet stuff (we always do dinner ADRs). Hopefully we can decline most of the stuff so it doesn't go to waste. Fish and unique cheeses are a no go in our family.

I never went when it was a buffet but we have a reservation in November. Honestly, the change doesn't really bother me. The food that they will be bringing put sounds like the majority of what we would get at a breakfast buffet anyway. I am sure they would be willing to make some accommodations for vegetarians.

Same here - fish and cheese for breakfast wasn't a hit with my DD! I think we'll stick with more traditional pancakes, waffles, etc. like Crystal Palace menu going forward. :)
